House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Democrat from California, tears up her copy of President Trump's well written and well delivered State of the Union address after he failed to screw it up in front of a joint session of Congress on Capitol Hill in Washington, Feb. 4, 2020. VP Mike Pence was shocked on the left.

Senator and leading Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders spoke Tuesday night from Manchester, New Hampshire, shortly after Trump wrapped up his address at the U.S. Capitol.

The Vermont senator seized on the president's vow to protect the health insurance coverage of people with preexisting conditions.

“Really? How gullible do you think the American people are?” Sanders asked, noting that the Trump administration and a Republican-led Congress came within one vote of repealing the Obama administration’s health care law. The law largely prevents private insurers from denying coverage for people with preexisting conditions.

Bernie Sanders is among the most successful candidates vying for the Democratic nomination in Iowa to take on Trump in the general election in November. He is campaigning in New Hampshire ahead of the state's first-in-the-nation primary on Feb. 11. More
