Mindfulness-based Integrative Psychotherapy to Treat Generalized Anxiety Disorder
with Lobsang Rapgay, PhD

This 4-week practical introductory course systematically combines evidence-based strategies to treat the most complex disorder among anxiety disorders. Research suggests that while CBT is beneficial, it is not adequate for the successful treatment of GAD and that early problems in attachment play a significant role in the formation of GAD.

The unique feature of the course is the integration of tested and proven components of Western and Eastern mindfulness, CBT, emotional regulation, and imagery. The course will briefly discuss the reasons for excluding common strategies that are either redundant or not as effective as once assumed.

Note: The workshop is geared toward mental health professionals.

Dates: Wednesdays, April 27-May 18
Time: 4:00-5:15 pm, PT

Day of Mindfulness:
Mindfulness and the Power of Choice
With Mitra Manesh

In these unsettled and unsettling times, it may be hard to believe that we always have a choice. But we do. And when we remember that, we can face the same challenges-- big or small-- with a greater sense of space, calm, freedom and possibility.

Join Mitra Manesh, MARC’s senior Mindful Living educator, to find out how mindfulness can help us identify and access opportunities of choice at work, in relationship, and throughout our lives.

There will be practices, lectures, and coaching as well as journaling, dyads, and plenty of opportunity for Q & A.

This retreat is open to all who are interested in using mindfulness to experience more freedom, and live a choice-centered life.

MAPs III: Practicing Across the Spectrum of Awareness
With Diana Winston

This class is for students who have taken MAPs I and MAPs II classes and wish to go deeper. Most people practice mindfulness in a focused way—attending to their breathing and returning to their breath when their attention has wandered. But there are many ways to practice mindfulness.

In this 6-week class, we will learn about and practice with the Spectrum of Awareness, from focused awareness to investigative and open awareness, to natural awareness. Natural awareness is an effortless, radiant, and spacious state of being that includes awareness of awareness.

Date: Thursdays, May 12- June 16
Time: 10:00 am-12 noon,  PT
Cost: $0-$200

Introduction to Mindfulness for Adult ADHD Part 2
Transforming Negative Self-Views into Self-Compassion & Healing for Adult ADHD
With Manijeh Motaghy

Scientific studies show that Children with ADHD nervous system grow up being criticized at least 20,000 times more than other children their age. After a while this becomes an internal experience and reality well into adulthood. One is ready to criticize oneself at every turn and ADHDers have a lot of turns. Many of the challenges including forgetfulness, clutter, disorganization, missing deadlines, unable to listen and other difficulties are a constant reminder that the person is less than perfect and stuck in this way of life.
This negative self-view and judgmental attitude only worsens those challenges and hinders the brilliance of this brain type.

This course provides education about the specifics of ADHD Rejection Sensitivity Dysphoria which is intense painful experiences when feeling judged and blamed and reacting unskillfully. There will be ADHD appropriate Mindfulness practices to help the healing process, reframing, and shifting to healthier responses. It will invigorate a self-positive outlook and self-confidence.

We also encourage anyone who has a relationship with an individual of ADHD nervous system to participate in this course.

Half-Day of Mindfulness:
Connecting with Courage
with Diana Winston in collaboration with Sangha Live

While at times each of us may feel courageous, many of us often find courage to be elusive; courage comes and goes, and may be present in one part of our life, but not another.

More than ever, we need courage to survive these challenging times — from navigating struggles in our personal lives, to making important choices, to surviving ongoing global uncertainty.

What gets in the way of your courage? How can mindfulness help you to embrace your fears?

On this day of practice we‘ll explore courage as a strength of heart and mind. Together we’ll practice mindfulness meditation through sitting, walking, and movement, contemplative inquiry, and courage-focused meditation.

Dates: Saturday, May 21
Time: 7am-10am, PT
Cost: $0-$75
