Mother Theresa: Living without Faith

Mother Theresa, the world-renowned saint who operated in India, proved by her life that it is possible to do great good even while doubting that "God" or heaven or Catholic salvation exist. It is a testament to her humanity and goodness that she provided so much care to the poor. Wisdom Quarterly visited Calcutta (Missionaries of Charity, Kolkata) to volunteer alongside Hindus, atheists, and Christians from around the world and had the opportunity to see her work firsthand.

Mother Theresa was a staggering inspiration to the world moreover. Paradoxically, her actions/karma kept many disaffected Catholics faithful and allied with a dismally corrupt Church. Meanwhile, scientists find spirituality and are left awed-by-god. Rampant allegations are hurled at Roman Catholicism: institutionalized child molestation, worldly greed, abuse, ties to the Shadow Government and World Bank, and hypocrisy. These were well known to Mother Theresa. Yet she carried on, directly motivated by universal compassion (or in Buddhist terms, karuna, mudita, and metta).
