Neowake (pineal activation ); Dhr. Seven, Ellie Askew (eds.), Amata Sutta: The "Deathless Discourse" (SN 47.41) based on Ven. Thanissaro (trans.) via Access to Insight org, Wisdom Quarterly
Realize the deathless state. |
There he said: "Meditators, remain with your minds/hearts well established in the Four [Settings Up or Foundations] of Mindfulness.
"Let not the deathless (amata = nirvana) be lost to you.
"What are the four? In one a meditator
- remains focused on this body in and of itself — ardent, alert, and mindful — subduing desire and dejection regarding the world.
- One remains focused on sensations...
- One remains focused on mind...
- One remains focused on mental objects (dhammas = phenomena) in and of themselves — ardent, alert, and mindful — subduing greed and grief with regard to the world.
