The first fully automated McDonald’s has opened its doors in Texas, and more such restaurants are sure soon to follow. Some have suggested that the shift to automation is a result of greedy workers demanding higher wages. But the reality is that regardless of industry, as soon as the technology becomes available and cost-effective, companies will gladly replace human employees with soulless machines and AI robots, and that’s precisely what’s now happening at McDonald’s. Jim and Kurt discuss the inevitability of automation under capitalism and toxic efforts to blame workers for expecting to earn a living wage.

The financial wizards at the equity firm BlackRock, the world’s largest asset manager, are warning that a major recession is headed our way, and this time all the powers of the central banking apparatus will not be sufficient to hold it off.
