This, of course, is not about the Devil, Satan, or being anti-anything. It is about religious freedom and about being able to enjoy freedom FROM religion. We are a secular democracy, not a Christian theocracy as some would have us believe. Evangelicals and other fundamentalists will not stand for anything short of Christian-Sharia Law (their interpretation of their Bible being shoved down everyone else's throat). Let's allow people to hold their own religion -- or not religion at all -- as they deem fit. The idea that one religion, any religion, gets a governmental advantage over others is a grotesque abuse of our American freedoms. When state and religion are not kept separate, expect corruption and the loss of both.

Even before the ancient Greeks recognized her as Artemis -- Goddess of the Moon, Archery, the Hunt, Katniss to Hollywood, and Diana to the Romans -- the devi (female deva) appeared to inspire others.

Homer in the Illiad (xxi 470 f.) calls her "Artemis of the wildland, Mistress of Animals." Here she is celebrated by Bjork and appearing today:

Kazakh boys in western Mongolia, however, start learning to use the huge birds to hunt for foxes and hares at the age of 13, when the eagles sit heavily on their undeveloped arms.

Svidensky, a photographer and travel writer, shot five boys learning the skill as well as the girl, Ashol-Pan. 

"To see her with the eagle was amazing," he recalls. "She was a lot more comfortable with it, a lot more powerful with it and a lot more at ease with it."

(CAIRO) Archaeologists exploring an old military road in the Sinai have unearthed four new temples amidst the 3,000-year-old remains of an ancient fortified city that could have been used to impress foreign delegations visiting Egypt, antiquities authorities announced today.

Among the discoveries was the largest mud brick temple found in the Sinai with an area of 70 by 80 meters (77 by 87 yards) and fortified with mud walls 3 meters (10 feet) thick, said Zahi Hawass, chief of Egypt's Supreme Council of Antiquities.

The find was made in Qantara, 2 1/2 miles (4 kilometers) east of the Suez Canal. These temples mark the latest discovery by archaeologists digging up the remains of the city on the military road known as "Way of Horus." Horus is a falcon-headed god, who represented the greatest cosmic powers for ancient Egyptians. Made>>
