Kumbha Mela ruined by pandemic fears (video)
Ground Report from Kumbh Mela as crowds gather for Shahi Snan amid COVID pandemic scare
(India Today, April 12, 2021) Live ground report from the holy Himalayan city of Haridwar, where huge crowds have gathered for the Maha Kumbha Mela to take a dip in the holy Ganges river (for absolution of sin, bad karma, through ritual baptism, which the Buddha once commented must make fish extraordinarily holy as they swim and bathe in those holy waters all day), despite a raging pandemic of testing and being told one is contagious and spreading disease asymptomatically so that everyone should obey government officials, go home or to the hospital, and cower.
Watch COVID norms being flouted at the event.
