Summertime 'n the livin' is easy (Darci Lynne)
This kid's stealing my thunder, Simon! Stop her!
Today, June 1st, is the first day of summer (if "Summertime" is understood to refer to the most temperate season in the Northern temperate zone) -- the meteorological season, which runs from June 1 through August 31. In the Solar or Celtic season, summer is already a month old. Our "Summertime Sadness" (Lana Del Rey) has already set in, but here's young Darci Lynne, 12, with her rendition of the heartbreaking old-timey tune composed by George Gershwin in 1934, with a ventriloquist twist and shyness that won her the Golden Buzzer from Mel B in 2017 on #AGT (Kids Got Talent) #AmericasGotTalent
African Americans deserve the credit for the best American music!
Here Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong show Darci how it's done.
American musical genius Billie Holiday inspired the world in 1936.
But she covered the song from the 1935 opera Porgy and Bess.
