Aztlan: legendary Aztec homeland

Is the legendary homeland of the "Aztecs" a myth?

Leaving Aztlan (Atlantis?) for the mainland
This video explores the "Aztec" [a modern made-up name invented in the USA] mythology surrounding Aztlan, the claimed ancestral origin of the people who would build Tenochtitlan, the site of modern Mexico City.

Was Aztlan a real place or a fictional narrative meant to give meaning to a greater truth about outsiders looking for a place to belong in Mesoamerica? It delves into the symbolism behind their journey and how it shaped their search for a new home and history.

Thousands of people are marching in cities across California, standing up for migrant families and demanding dignity—which is reminiscent of something ancient. Way before national borders, ICE raids, and Trumpian walls, the ancestors of the Mexica—the original "Mexicans," the tribal people we now label “Aztecs”—were wandering the desert looking for a sign.

They were turned away by those who were already settled. This story of Aztlán has been passed down for generations. This episode digs into what it really means. Was Aztlán a real place? A metaphor? A strategy? Why ask?

For a lot of us—especially those of us who are Mexican American—this isn’t just about the past. It’s about identity, memory, and what it means to belong.

In this episode:

• The legend of Aztlán and why it still matters
• What the codices, scholars, and even conspiracy theorists have to say
• Why this ancient story still hits hard in a world where people are still being turned away at borders.

Let’s explore the Mexica migration, how “Aztecs” came to be, what the codices say, and how this all connects to today—because this isn’t just myth. It’s about who we are and how we got here.

If anyone is Mexican American, Latinx, Chicano, Hispanic, or has ever asked, “Where do I really come from?”—this one’s for you.

Nat'l American Indian Heritage Month

Don't let your yesterdays eat too much of today
November is National American Heritage Month in the US, aka Native American Heritage Month, which began in with Bush in 1990.

"The President [of the USA] has authorized and requested to call upon Federal, State and local Governments, groups and organizations and the people of the United States to observe such month with appropriate programs, ceremonies and activities."

The landmark bill tribal people represented a major step in establishing this celebration.

Kachina dolls of the Hopi tribe
That struggle began in 1976 when a Cherokee/Osage Indian named Jerry C. Elliott-High Eagle authored Native American Awareness Week legislation, the first historical week of recognition in the nation for Native peoples.

This led to Pres. Reagan in 1986 proclaiming November 23–30, 1986, as "American Indian Week" [1].

This commemorative month aims to provide a platform for Native people living in the United States of America to share their:
  • culture,
  • traditions,
  • music,
  • crafts,
  • dances,
  • and ways and concepts of life.
LA, what say you about the White Man's oppression?
It is meant to give Native people the opportunity to resuscitate their languages and spiritual practices, natural medicines and rituals to express to the community in cities, counties, and states so that officials become aware of their concerns. In this way solutions for building bridges of understanding and friendship in local areas can be fostered.

Indians of the Valley, Tataviam, have a center
Federal agencies are encouraged to provide educational programs for their employees regarding American Indian history, rights, culture, and contemporary issues to better assist people affiliated with surviving tribe in their jobs and for overall awareness. More

I have a vision

Roxanne Dunbar-Ortiz
Southern California, and Los Angeles in particular, has the highest concentration of Indigenous people in the country. Yet, we have no "reservation," no remainder of our land not stolen by treaty and war by the Federal government. There are, however, public lands.

What if those who wanted to revive the Old Ways, keep them alive as mixed with the modern, were to have a place to live as before? I imagine somewhere in the forest above the city, in the San Gabriel Mountains, the Angeles Forest and monument.

The invaders almost made us forget
What if Natives and allies could come together to fashion a better society within the society. Now we're all spoiled and do not want to relinquish the benefits of modernity. But we do not want to be deprived of our traditions, identities, and customs.

The knowledge, language, and culture taken from us can be restored. If everyone were given title and deed to a homestead on Catalina Island, it would soon be full, our own "Hawaiian kingdom" with a queen representing us. Soon all the Channel Islands would be full of canoes and catamarans, traversing the waters of Santa Monica Bay.

If elders guide us, we might all live in peace.
What if we could all receive secure housing within the county, no need to be placed on desolate land and isolated. What if Indians got recognition?

Los Angeles is Tongva (Kizh, Gabrieleno) land, and that could be to everyone's benefit. Even Bruce's Beach eventually got recognition. We'll have to assemble in community to find a consensus.

Easter Island pop never collapsed: study

The collapse of the population of Easter Island never happened, say scientists
How much proof of ET intervention is needed?
(WQ) Star People (space visitors) came down to help produce the culture we see on so-called "Easter Island" or Rapa Nui as it is actually named.

When Europeans arrived, they assumed the population had to bigger before and must have dwindled down to its size of a few thousand. A new study published in a peer-reviewed journal shows that that is a Western myth, a foolish assumption that never happened.

The Rapa Nui may have ruined their environment and chopped down all their trees. But that did not cause a collapse of its population. It's intensive gardening and farming techniques, which produce low yields in the best of seasons, were as they had always been.

So who built the Moai, the giant statues buried up to the chests? They obviously had help and no time or inclination to make such monoliths without prompting and help from somewhere out there off the isolated island.
Ecocide hypothesis

In his book Collapse: How Societies Choose to Fail or Succeed, Jared Diamond suggested that cannibalism took place on Easter Island after the construction of the moai (stone head statues that are actually whole bodies) contributed to environmental degradation when extreme deforestation (ecocide) destabilized an already precarious ecosystem [33].

The archeological record shows that at the time of the initial settlement the island was home to many species of trees, including at least three species which grew up to 49 feet (15 meters) or more: Paschalococos (possibly the largest palm trees in the world at the time), Alphitonia zizyphoides, and Elaeocarpus rarotongensis.

At least six species of land birds were known to live on the island. A major factor that contributed to the extinction of multiple plant species was the introduction of the Polynesian rat.

Studies by paleobotanists have shown rats can dramatically affect the reproduction of vegetation in an ecosystem. In the case of Rapa Nui, recovered plant seed shells showed markings of being gnawed on by rats [3]. This version of the history speculates a high former population to the island that had already declined before Europeans arrived.

Barbara A. West wrote, "Sometime before the arrival of Europeans on Easter Island, the Rapanui experienced a tremendous upheaval in their social system brought about by a change in their island's ecology... By the time of European arrival in 1722, the island's population had dropped to 2,000–3,000 from a high of approximately 15,000 just a century earlier" [34].

By that time, 21 species of trees and all species of land birds became extinct through some combination of over-harvesting, over-hunting, rat predation, and climate change. The island was largely deforested, and it did not have any trees taller than 9.8 ft. (3 m).

Loss of large trees meant that residents were no longer able to build seaworthy vessels, significantly diminishing their fishing abilities. According to this version of the history, the trees were used as rollers to move the moai statues to their place of erection from the quarry at Rano Raraku [35].

Deforestation also caused erosion which caused a sharp decline in agricultural production [3]. This was exacerbated by the loss of land birds and the collapse in seabird populations as a source of food.

By the 18th century, islanders were largely sustained by farming, with domestic chickens as the primary source of protein [36].

Birdmen replace warriors
.
As the island became overpopulated and resources diminished, warriors known as matatoa gained more power and the Ancestor Cult ended, making way for the Bird Man Cult.

Beverly Haun wrote, "The concept of mana (power) invested in hereditary leaders was recast into the person of the birdman, apparently beginning circa 1540, and coinciding with the final vestiges of the moai period" [37].

This cult maintained that, although the ancestors still provided for their descendants, the medium through which the living could contact the dead was no longer statues, but human beings chosen through a competition.

The god responsible for creating humans, Makemake, played an important role in this process. Katherine Routledge, who systematically collected the island's traditions in her 1919 expedition [38], showed that the competitions for Bird Man (Rapa Nui tangata manu) started around 1760, after the arrival of the first Europeans, and ended in 1878, with the construction of the first church by Roman Catholic missionaries who formally arrived in 1864.

Petroglyphs representing Bird Men on Easter Island are the same as some in Hawaii, indicating that this concept was probably brought by the original settlers; only the competition itself was unique to Easter Island.

According to Diamond and Heyerdahl's version of the island's history, the huri mo'ai – "statue-toppling" – continued into the 1830s as a part of fierce internal wars.

By 1838, the only standing moai were on the slopes of Rano Raraku, in Hoa Hakananai'a in Orongo, and Ariki Paro in Ahu Te Pito Kura.

Criticism of the ecocide hypothesis
Diamond and West's version of the history is highly controversial. A study headed by Douglas Owsley published in 1994 asserted that there is little archeological evidence of pre-European societal collapse.

Bone pathology and osteometric data from islanders of that period clearly suggest few fatalities can be attributed directly to violence [39].

Research by Binghamton University anthropologists Robert DiNapoli and Carl Lipo in 2021 suggests that the island experienced steady population growth from its initial settlement until European contact in 1722.

The island never had more than a few thousand people prior to European contact, and their numbers were increasing rather than dwindling [40][41].

Several works that address or counter Diamond's claims in Collapse have been published.

In Ecological Catastrophe and Collapse -The Myth of "Ecocide" on Rapa Nui (Easter Island), Hunt and Lipo set out a claim-by-claim rebuttal to Diamond's claims.

This includes, among other things:
  • that deforestation began immediately, but the population grew while the forest declined as the land was converted to more productive farmland;
  • that the island's population grew continuously up to the arrival of Europeans, with the only clear decline starting in the period of 1750–1800;
  • that studies from other islands show clearly that Polynesian settlement without Polynesian rats is only associated with minimal forest loss while the arrival of rats without human settlement is devastating to forest populations;
  • only species favored by the rats for consumption were lost, not for example the native Sophora toromiro;
  • that the island's drier, less predictable climate made it inherently more vulnerable to deforestation than other Polynesian islands; and that the population declines on Rapa Nui can be well attributed to the very mechanism described by Diamond in another of his books, Guns, Germs and Steel -- the devastating impact of introduced diseases, raids, slavery, and exploitation on indigenous populations [42].
In another work, Hunt and Lipo discuss more evidence against the ecocide hypothesis. In addition to focusing on the settlement chronology, they note that the island has an abnormally low amount of evidence of warfare compared to other Polynesian islands, only relatively small-scale intergroup conflict.

There are no fortifications, and the attributed obsidian mata'a "weapons" show rather evidence of having been used in agriculture, and indeed, match up with agricultural tools long recognized among artifacts of other Polynesian peoples [43]. More

Star People of Hawaii: Mu's Mt. Sumeru?

The axis mundi Mt. Sumeru
In Buddhist cosmology, the central mountain around which everything else on the plane of the Earth revolves is Mount Sumeru (or "Good Meru"). It is thought mythological because it would be bigger than Mt. Everest or Mt. Kailash and it should be in the middle of the ocean. The lost continent of Mu (or Lemuria) would fit the bill, and the peak of this sunken continent still sticks up above sea level, and it is called Hawaii's Mauna Kea. It did not get shorter when the continent sank; the floor got lower, and most of it is underwater. So it is like a tall person standing in a hole next to a guy named Everest standing on a platform. The "tallest" mountain is still Mauna Kea.

A kind of "Atlantis" once existed in the middle of the Pacific known as ancient Lemuria (or Mu). And it had the world's tallest mountain, an axis mundiMauna Kea, as measured from the base to the snowy peak. Mauna Loa volcano and four others are still erupting and growing the big island. Dragons: Demons, US Presidents, Nagas

Dumb Biden, Dumber Trump, I don't care which, I want one of them in the White House!
Dragons (nagas) are found in ancient written texts in Europe, India, and elsewhere.

All US presidents are related to ONE man: King John of England
Map of cave systems in the US alongside map of concentrations of missing persons.
.
Missing 411 (David Paulides)
Call them royal Nagas, Silurians, humanoid reptilians, or dragons -- these hybridizing reptoid creatures (who can shapeshift) genetically manipulate humans and have for many centuries.

*It happens in Sedona, Arizona (and there's Bridget Neilson's support group, hybridchildencommunity.com, for mothers of human-alien hybrid babies), just as it happened in ancient India when there was a time that everyone knew it and the rulers did not deny it.

Even the tunnels of Los Angeles going from the coast into the Highland Park area revealed it in an explosive Los Angeles Times article. There were structures and artifacts found under DTLA, as the article showed along with a map of the glass sided tunnels made by technology we do not openly possess.

(But given all the highspeed train tunnels under the nation, we almost certainly now have the boring technology which allegedly welds the walls of the tunnels it bores into a very strong glasslike material like nuclear blasts melt sand). These creatures apparently still live in cave systems, subterranean cities, military bases, and tunnels.

Do everything They tell you, Joe. - I will, Barry.
We all have only six degrees of separation from Kevin Bacon, it is said. That's odd enough. But how could it be that ALL presidents that have or will be selected are blood related to a single man? Who? British royal King John of the House of Plantagenet.

Nagas do not rule in the open but by influencing a human host (walk in, possession, mind control, as is visible in that change that happens to a newly selected president after a long and arduous political campaign. The fix is in. It's a show, a horse race, and the more we vote to buy into it, the more we cover the tracks of those who pull the strings of our nominal "democracy," which is to say democracy in name only. We could hardly even be said to be a republic, except on paper.

This suggests that David Icke was onto something when years ago, and ever since, he has been saying that the British royals are "lizard people," humanoid reptilians engaged in ruling, incest, cannibalism, and doing the bidding of "royal reptilian" (Sanskrit raja-naga) bloodlines.

Mexico before it was Mexico

Xochitl, Dhr. Seven, Pfc. Sandoval, Crystal Quintero (eds.), Wisdom Quarterly Wiki edit
Mexica people ruled Aztec Empire with Culhua Toltec descendants (Florentine Codex)
.
Magnificent floating capital of the empire
Tenochtitlan, which became Mexico City, was built on an island on then Lake Texcoco in the Valley of Mexico.
The city was the capital of the expanding Aztec Empire in the 15th century until it was captured by Spanish invaders from Europe in 1521.

Aztec patron god Huitzilopochtli (codex)
At its peak it was the largest city in the pre-Columbian Americas. It subsequently became a cabecera of the Viceroyalty of New Spain.

Today, the ruins of Tenochtitlan are in the historic center of Mexico's capital. The World Heritage Site of Xochimilco contains what remains of the geography (water, boats, floating gardens) of the capital of the Mexica tribe.

Tenochtitlan was one of two Mexica city-states (āltēpetl) on the island, the other being Tlatelolco.

The Mexica established Mexico-Tenochtitlan, a settlement on an island on Lake Texcoco.

A dissident group from Mexico-Tenochtitlan separated and founded the settlement of Mexico-Tlatelolco with its own dynastic lineage.

The Aztecs
The name "Aztec" was coined by Alexander von Humboldt, who combined "Aztlan" ("place of the heron"), their mythic homeland, and tec(atl), "people of" (Frances F. Berdan "Mesoamerica: Mexica," Encyclopedia of Mexico: History, Society & Culture, Michael S. Werner (ed.), Routledge, 1998).
The term "Aztec" is often used very broadly to refer not only to the Mexica people, but also to the Nahuatl-speaking peoples or Nahuas of the Valley of Mexico and neighboring valleys. More

Why is it called "Mexico"?
The Mexica (plural Mēxihcahs, singular Mēxihcatl) are a Nahuatl-speaking indigenous people of the Valley of Mexico -- who were the rulers of the Aztec Empire, part of which became modern "Mexico."

This group was also known as the Culhua-Mexica in recognition of its kinship alliance with the neighboring Culhua, descendants of the revered Toltecs, who occupied the Toltec capital of Tula from the 10th through 12th centuries. More
