AHN, AP settle lawsuit

NEW YORK, New York (AHN) - The Associated Press and AHN Media have settled a lawsuit in which the AP accused AHN of publishing AP's news stories as its own. In a joint statement issued Monday, AHN denied the allegations but agreed to pay AP an undisclosed amount of money. The lawsuit was filed in January 2008 in U.S. District Court in New York. Corporate offices for AHN are in Wellington, Florida, whereas the offices of AP are in New York. The case was dismissed on June 15. AHN CEO Jeff Brown said the settlement was not formalized until Monday. He said terms of the agreement prevented him from commenting further. Jonathan Ross, AHN counsel, also declined comment, saying "the press release speaks for itself." "AP is pleased to have successfully resolved the litigation through a principled settlement," Laura Malone, AP associate general counsel, said in the statement. Source
