Nonreligious therapist and "spirit release worker" Brett Farrell
appeared on Coast to Coast on Monday, Feb. 25, 2019. He has been
working shamanically with the possessed in Australia for over ten years
to help them overcome mental illnesses, traumas, addictions, and many
other problems.
Behind the world we know through our five senses, there exists a spirit world peopled with non-physical entities. Maybe we can't see them, feel them, or hear them, but sometimes non-physical entities can negatively influence our mental equilibrium and eventually we might start to think that's just the sort of person we are.
Here's a short list of possible symptoms of spiritual attachment:
Do you feel as if something is holding you back, sapping your confidence?
Is your child's behavior suddenly so bad or bizarre that you feel you have lost your child, that your child is no longer there, that something else has taken over?
Is there a part of you that talks you out of doing the things you really want to do?
Is there a voice in your head telling you that you are a no good failure?
Have you not been the same since an accident, hospitalization, or emotional upset so that you are unable to get going and enjoy life like you used to?
Do you suddenly and uncharacteristically feel drawn to alcohol or drugs?
Do you get angry in a way you never used to?
Do you feel something comes to you at night in bed?
Do you have recurring dreams about a dark entity?
Has one of your children become uncontrollable or terrified of going to bed or going to school?
Dark spirit attachment can be responsible for all of the above symptoms and many more.
Sometimes we know what the problem is. For instance, if we move into a new house and our 5-year-old is suddenly terrified to sleep alone, says there is someone in her/his room, or starts behaving badly.
In that case it's almost certain there is an entity in the house. Children can often see spirits that adults cannot.
He identified "spirit attachments" as powerful forces dominating people's lives and has developed techniques for clearing and removing these harmful entities.
There are a number of entity types, including:
spirits of the deceased
dark-demonic beings
thought-forms conjured up by the negative focus of the living.
Farrell says he can even track these invisible spirit attachments back to their sources. The dark-demonic entities, he explains, are generally part of a hierarchy, and the oldest ones tend to be at the top and can be enormous.
In the case of one lesser dark attachment, he followed its trail back to a huge mountain-sized being. "I actually stood on his chest to talk to him," Farrell said of his encounter with it in the astral realm.
He details how he disposed of that entity by spreading his energy form -- a net of light -- around him then squeezed him down to a ball. He encased it in a steel container then dropped it into the deep "sea of forgetfulness."
Entities are around us all of the time. People need to be aware of them, he cautions. Children are particularly sensitive to their presence. More + AUDIO

faces a likely fracture as delegates at the crucial meeting move to
strengthen bans on same-sex marriage and ordination of LGBT clergy (AP).

Emotions were high throughout the third and final day of the UMC (United Methodist Convention)
meeting. Some supporters of greater LGBT (lesbian gay bi trans) inclusion were in tears, while
others vented their anger when, midway through the session, delegates
defeated a proposal that would have let regional and local church bodies
decide for themselves on gay-friendly policies.
"Devastation," was how former Methodist pastor
Rebecca Wilson of Detroit described her feelings. "As someone who left
because I'm gay, I'm waiting for the church I love to stop bringing more
hate."
After several more hours of debate, the conservatives' proposal,
called the Traditional Plan, was approved by a vote of 438-384.
Opponents unsuccessfully sought to weaken the plan with hostile
amendments or to prolong the debate past a mandatory adjournment time
set to accommodate a monster truck rally in the arena. One delegate even
requested an investigation into the possibility that "vote buying" was
taking place at the conference.
The Traditional Plan's success was due to an
alliance of conservatives from the U.S. and overseas. About 43 percent
of the delegates were from abroad, mostly from Africa, and
overwhelmingly supported the LGBT bans.
If
the bans were eased, "the church in Africa would cease to exist," said
the Rev. Jerry Kulah of Liberia. "We can't do anything but to support
the Traditional Plan — it is the biblical plan."More

ignorant one are different.
The Buddha lived with form (physical body, materiality), sound, fragrance,
taste, touch, and thought. He was an enlightened being, so
he was able to turn away from them rather than toward them.
He turned
away and LET GO little by little because he understood that the heart is
just the heart and thought is just thought. He
didn’t confuse them or mix them together.
The heart is just the heart. Thoughts and feelings are just thoughts and
feelings. Let things be as they are. Let form be just form, let sound
be just sound, let thought be just thought.
Why should we let ourselves become
attached to them? If we feel and think in this way (seeing them as just feelings and just thoughts) then there arises
detachment and separateness.
Our
thoughts and feelings will be on one side and our heart will be on the
other. Just like oil and water, they may be in the same bottle but they
are separate.

Report: Missing Migrant Children Being Funneled Through Christian Adoption Agency

The Trump administration says it
can’t reunite missing migrant children with their families; instead,
many of the children are being shipped to a Christian adoption agency
with ties to Education Secretary Betsy DeVos.
Earlier this week the Trump
administration told a federal court that it would require too much
effort to reunite migrant children with their parents. Associated Press reports:
The Trump administration
says it would require extraordinary effort to reunite what may be
thousands of migrant children who have been separated from their parents
and, even if it could, the children would likely be emotionally harmed.
According to the Associated Press
report, the Trump administration is also concerned that reunification
would “present grave child welfare concerns” because the children would
be removed from their “sponsor” homes:
Jonathan White, who leads
the Health and Human Services Department’s efforts to reunite migrant
children with their parents, said removing children from ‘sponsor’ homes
to rejoin their parents ‘would present grave child welfare concerns.’
He said the government should focus on reuniting children currently in
its custody, not those who have already been released to sponsor homes.
The entire situation is horrific.

As for the fate of the thousands of children the Trump administration does not want to reunite with their parents, Progressive Secular Humanist
previously reported that many of the migrant children ruthlessly
separated from their family by the Trump administration are being
shipped to Bethany Christian Services, a Christian adoption agency with
ties to the family of Education Secretary Betsy DeVos.

their parents, linking the migrant children to Bethany Christian

QUESTION: Can you explain more about the "surface" of the present moment [mindfulness]? How can we go deeper?
ANSWER: The "surface" of the present moment contains the external forms we perceive with the physical senses -- any of which can serve as a tool for stepping out of the thought stream. We get beneath the surface by becoming aware of the still, alert, and unchanging background in which our perceiving occurs.

A federal judge has ruled that it is unconstitutional to only force men to register for the draft when they turn 18. While the draft ended in 1973 following the Vietnam War, the MSSA (Military Selective Service Act) still requires all men between the ages of 18 and 25 to register for the draft. In 1981, the Supreme Court ruled that only requiring men to register was constitutional because at that time the military banned women from serving in combat roles. That changed in 2013, and Senior Judge Gray Miller of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas ruled that the government "can no longer justify the MSSA's gender-based discrimination." The lawsuit was filed by the National Coalition for Men, who praised the judges ruling. "Forcing only males to register is an aspect of socially institutionalized male disposability," the group said in a statement. "Men still face prison, fines, and denial of federal loans for not registering or for not updating the government of their whereabouts." Women, it said, "should face the same repercussions as men for any noncompliance."
Dr. Chung-ying Cheng discussed the seemingly paradoxical use of language in Zen dialogues and suggested a means for understanding this paradoxical quality.
The "principle of ontic non-commitment" and the method of "ontological reduction" he described as an approach to resolving the paradoxical qualities of Zen language appear to be quite similar to the phenomenological technique of epoche and the method of phenomenological reduction the German philosopher Edmund Husserldevelopedearly in this century to deal with certain paradoxes of subjectivity and objectivity.
A discussion of this issue of language and paradox might provide a fruitful point of comparative philosophical dialogue between Zen Buddhism and phenomenological philosophy.
Hence, using Dr. Cheng's article as a basis, there are various similarities.... After mentioning how these methods are used to treat seemingly paradoxical situations, the notions of enlightenment in Zen Buddhism and transcendental phenomenology deserve remark.
Dr. Cheng points out that the paradoxes of Zen dialogue are due to an attempt to understand an utterance in terms of its surface semantic structure and the common-sensical ontological structure that normally provides the referential framework it.
However, instead of the semantic structure of an utterance ("Listen to the dog") referring to some past or present ontological event (the experience or concept of a barking dog), the Zen koan ("Listen to the sound of one hand clapping") appears to refer to an ontological absurdity (neither the concept nor the experience of a clapping sound can be meaningfully associated as originating from a single hand).
10 Brain-Splitting Paradoxes
The semantic structure of the utterance does not seem to "point to" anything and is thus an apparently meaningless use of language.
This means that the language of the Zen paradoxes contradicts the background reference presuppositions of surface-level terms in ordinary usage and by doing so points to the singular absence of reference or that of reference framework for the language of the paradoxes.
But the insight that the Zen dialogue seeks to offer is not at the common sense level of ordinary linguistic usage.
And it is precisely the first step toward enlightenment to realize that the paradox is valid only as long as one remains at the common sense level of understanding.
The Zen koan uses language not to refer but as a tool or a dialectical process for revealing a very deep ontological structure by means of or in virtue of the incongruity of the surface semantic structure of the paradoxes in reference to a standard framework of reference.
To get at this deep ontological structure, the surface level of understanding must be sundered, and it is precisely the paradoxicality of the language of the koan that accomplishes this.
But this is only the negative side of the paradox, that is, its destruction of the common-sensical understanding of the world.
If the listener does not retreat from the apparent absurdity of the paradoxical statement but instead grapples with it, the positive side of the paradox may have the constructive effect of producing in the person an insight into this deeper level of understanding.
A paradox is something that is "contrary to common belief," that is, something that does not have a place in the ontology of everyday life.
The destruction of this "common ontology" as a basis for understanding leaves one open for understanding at a different level.
The insight into this deeper level of understanding is a result of a shift in attitude toward the language of the utterance, a shift that separates the semantic structure from its ordinary ontological framework of reference. This shift resolves the paradox.
It does not solve it or dissolve it by explaining away the incongruity involved but resolves it by clarifying the paradoxicality of the paradox. Until about a year ago, plans were moving forward to include a category in the 2020 Census referred to as MENA, for "Middle Eastern or North African." It would have allowed a more accurate count of Americans of Arabic, Persian (Iranian), and other Middle Eastern/North African [such as Israeli] descent. In previous censuses, many identified as "white." But last year the Trump administration nixed that idea, announcing that the MENA category will not be included. Now, with a year to go before the decennial count, community advocates are gearing up to do outreach in the hope that people self-identify as Middle Eastern and North African on census forms so there's a more accurate count of a population that, in terms of data at least, is pretty much invisible.
