TV: Alan Watts explains Mahayana Buddhism

(Raving Electron) Alan Watts (alanwatts.org) gave interesting lectures on Buddhism in the West that made the West keenly interested in what the Buddha taught (and what later| Mahayana Buddhists taught which were at odds with what the historical Buddha Shakyamuni taught, only they think they know better than he and thus they became Hindus and followers of Brahmin philosophers). Quite early on Watts got himself on TV in San Francisco and on the radio (kpfa.org in Berkeley). He wrote many books and gave fascinating live lectures as a gifted speaker. Though British and originally an Episcopalian, he became a Buddhist very early on in his teens and a valued member of a Buddhist society in London before moving to California to really make a splash.
