The
Yangtze River in China is receding during an ongoing drought and heatwave in the region. As it shrinks a set of ancient Buddhist statues has been revealed. One depicts a Buddhist monk, the others the Buddha, as is believed to be approximately six centuries old. Meanwhile, the Southwestern US is getting hit by cyclones from the Gulf leading to flash flooding in Death Valley and elsewhere. In Utah's Zion Park, a grad student has gone missing, swept away by floodwaters and debris. A man alongside her was rescued but has still not been found.
