The struggling station undermined the very funny "Go Harrison" with brilliant commentator-comedian Cary Harrison was also inexplicable. The only explanation (speculation) that makes sense is the station has no sense of humor, fears the fomenting of controversy as Jimmy Dore attacks the hypocrisy of the nominal left as much as it demolishes the inequities of the mainstream right, right, and far right. There goes our membership.
The only thing left on the station is the venerable, long-running show "Something's Happening" with Roy of Hollywood Tuckman, or what we call "Buddhist Radio" on LA's airwaves weeknights at midnight and Sundays at 8:00 AM, featuring self-described spiritual entertainer Alan Watts.
Thursday nights at midnight features more Watts and an amazing assortment of Buddhist and other spiritual luminaries.
There is also Democracy Now! with Amy Goodman, which is quite moderate but seems extreme in a right-leaning world, Rising Up with Sonali Kohlhatkar, which is so-so but great on some topics, and then there's the dwindling number of world music shows. How will the station survive? At least there will always be the original Berkeley version, the flagship KPFA.org to tune in to.
