(IGN) June 25, 2021 is the theatrical release date for Summer of Soul (...Or, When the Revolution Could Not Be Televised), a Questlove Jawn featuring Gladys Knight, Stevie Wonder, Sly and the Family Stone, and many others.
Director Ahmir "Questlove" Thompson presents a powerful documentary created around an epic historical event that celebrated Black music, history, culture, and fashion. The Harlem Cultural Festival took place in 1969, the same year as Woodstock. Both were filmed, but this is the first time this festival has ever been shown. It was the Summer of Love. It was the Summer of Soul. And it's in theaters today then on Hulu on July 2, 2021.
