Chumash Native Life | Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History (sbnature.org)
This is a rare opportunity to learn directly from USC's Dr. Adams and associates. Field session focuses on local MEDICINAL plants with the authors of Healing with Medicinal Plants of the West.

Dr. Adams will share his two decades of training on the subject of Chumash Native American healing herbs. He will also demonstrate how certain pain-relieving products are made.

Plants (Cecilia Garcia, Dr Adams)
Get up close to see the specific herbs used in Chumash healing, and see how they are prepared for use. Emeritus Professor Jim Adams, USC School of Pharmacy, and Enrique VillaseƱor, a native plant educator and healer, lead this plant walk looking into the medicinal uses of California native plants.
  • Bring glass pint jars, 70% rubbing alcohol, and a mug for nopales. Also suggested is a folding chair for comfort.
Dr. Adams and co-authors Enrique Villasenor and Michelle Wong will present traditional recipes for making healing medicines and will be available afterward to sign their book.
