It seems that nowadays, according to Jay Leno, kids have forgotten the reason for the season:

The whole culture, to keep from exploding with hypocrisy, minimizes the danger with jokes.
Halloween (Samhain) is a time for scary things, our own U.S. Day of the Grateful Dead.
Sunday, Oct. 29 will be Old Town Pasadena's Halloween celebration (oldpasadena.org)
Why, yes, actually, I can drive stick.
So we need to get creative with the squash, the kobacha, the calabasa or pumpkin.
