Is the virus real, is it natural or manmade, is it something to fear or to use to see through the smokescreen? You decide, or obey authority without question. Allow others the same choice. Something's going on, but the only thing that's sure is that we're being lied to. And everyone who's afraid will be angry that anyone dared to question the media and pushed back. Push or cower because if you're not part of the solution, you're part to promote fear and worry.

Lingering stigma helps AIDS epidemic ravage US South

The American South has been quietly ravaged by HIV/AIDS, even as the rest of the US has made great advances in [symptomatic] treatment and prevention.

As Michael Maher reports, the conservative [Bible Belt] region's reluctance to speak publicly about the epidemic has hampered its ability to fight it. About this time every year, the Reverend Patricia Starr runs a Christmas drive for HIV-positive children in the small town of Clover in the state of South Carolina. A few years ago, she recalls, one boy asked her for a telescope so he could look up to heaven, where he expected to be soon.

Four months after receiving the Christmas gift he was dead, another HIV/AIDS victim for Clover's graveyards. ''The cemeteries keep getting larger,'' says Ms. Starr. ''They keep pushing the woods back and making more graves.'' More

Buddhism plays role in China's battle

Buddhist monks are raising awareness about HIV [and AIDS, which are not the same thing] prevention and supporting people living with the virus in the Xishuangbanna Dai autonomous prefecture in southwest China's Yunnan province.

Launched in 2003 with support from UNICEF and a local Buddhist association, the "Home of Buddha Glory" program (HBG) offers a regular gathering place at ["Hinayana"] Zongfo Monastery where hundreds of HIV/AIDS patients of any faith talk to each other and listen to the monks preach.

"The place really feels like a home," noted one HIV-positive non-Buddhist, who said she has learned from the monks how to live a positive life.

HIV can cause societal burdens, leave families poorer, and rob children of their parents' care, said Du Hanting, deputy abbot of the monastery. The monks' roles include helping those affected reduce stress, anxiety, and anguish. A lack of HIV/AIDS knowledge has led some patients' families to shun them or turn them out of the house.

"Monks serve as people's spiritual leaders and should guide them through hardship," Du said. "We often talk and have dinner with patients in front of their family members to show that the virus won't be transmitted through daily behavior." More

Eleven years ago Dr. Peter Duesberg was a lone voice in the world of AIDS research. At that time, the molecular biologist, world-renowned virologist, and UCLA professor began asking a question that seems like heresy to this day: Is it possible that we were wrong when we equated HIV with AIDS?

While any scientific discussion should allow such a challenge, others tried to silence Dr. Duesberg. AIDS research [the highly profitable industry] continues to be driven by the hypothesis that HIV is the cause, with virtually all our medical and scientific resources invested in this hypothesis.

But several outstanding scientific voices are joining Dr. Duesberg in denouncing this approach.

Witness the report published in mid-1993 by a group of Australian researchers led by Dr. Eleni Papadopoulos-Eleopulos. In this breakthrough report, the scientists raise serious questions about the accuracy of HIV antibody tests and, more important, the very relationship between HIV and AIDS.

They show that the HIV tests produce inconsistent results, both within one laboratory that tested a sample twice and between two labs that tested the same sample. What's more, it's nearly impossible to determine the rate of "false positives" [who are put on profitable drugs that then lead to many of the symptoms of AIDS by knocking out the immune system] because there is no "gold standard" to independently verify test results, as reported in the New York Native.

And that's not all. Among other things, the researchers also found that HIV cannot be isolated in all AIDS patients. Yet, HIV can be found in people who are HIV-antibody negative.

They found that people with non-AIDS diseases have antibodies that can register a positive result on the HIV-antibody test. [If one tests positive, particularly on the many free tests available to the elation and likely lobbying of pharmaceutical interests, it is likely a false positive; test again when health improves and find that suddenly there's no HIV/AIDS since most tests shockingly test for correlated symptoms not actual disease.]

They found that the p24 antigen is not, as is widely believed, an indicator of HIV infection or AIDS. Indeed, people with multiple sclerosis, T-cell lymphoma, generalized warts, and other diseases have the p24 antigen.

In short, it's time to face the disturbing notion that much of what we've been told about AIDS is incorrect.

Here are some of the factors that have led scientists to challenge the well-entrenched hypothesis that HIV equals AIDS: More

Amsterdam Buddhist temple burglars caught

AMSTERDAM (CBS6) -- Police arrested two men accused of stealing Buddhist statues, and believed to be connected with other area robberies, from a Buddhist temple Tuesday.

Gerald Skrocki sent photos of the damage, saying eight statues were stolen, two of which were jewel-encrusted and imported from China. He added, "The donation box was broken into and cash taken as well as the theft of an amplifier and speaker system, and copper piping."

Several stolen items have been recovered. But police are continuing to look for a third suspect, Harry Delvalle, who is believed to have fled to the Rochester, NY area. Video
