How to Train the Mind the Samurai Way

Miyamoto Musashi
Miyamoto Musashi (宮本 武蔵, circa 1583–1645) was a Japanese Samurai swordsman, strategist, artist (who drew Hotei Watching a Cockfight shown above), and writer who became renowned through stories of his unique double-bladed swordsmanship and undefeated record in 62 duels [3][a].

Musashi is considered a kensei ("sword saint") of Japan [4]. He was the founder of the Niten Ichi-ryū (Nito Ichi-ryū) style of swordsmanship, and in his final years authored The Book of Five Rings (五輪の書, Go Rin No Sho) and Dokkōdō (獨行道, The Path of Aloneness). More
(Presence & Blade) Samurai swordsman Miyamoto Musashi trained the mind to follow commands instead of emotions.

This method comes from Japanese philosophy about life and works by reshaping the power of the subconscious mind, where resistance, excuses, and hesitation are born. Learn:
  • How to stop negotiating with the mind
  • Why most people fail at self-control despite motivation
  • The real strength and weakness of discipline in mental training
  • Simple Japanese meditation techniques that build inner authority
  • How this approach reflects the eight Japanese habits that can change life
  • A practical way to understand how to maintain discipline in life consistently.
This is not about forcing the mind. It is about training it so that obedience becomes natural.

  • 00:00 – The hidden reason the mind refuses to obey
  • 00:45 – When we realize our mind is in charge (David’s awakening)
  • 04:10 – Musashi’s core revelation: We are not our mind
  • 07:40 – Forging obedience the Samurai way (training through resistance)
  • 12:10 – Why big commands fail and small commands win
  • 15:30 – Cutting off escape routes before the mind rebels
  • 19:10 – Training immediate action (no delay, no debate)
  • 22:30 – Ending the civil war inside our head
  • 26:00 – What a fully obedient mind looks like in real life
  • 28:40 – Retraining disobedience into absolute control
  • 31:18 – The path forward: Command or be ruled.
When Buddhists Attack (Mann)
Some scholars like D.T. Suzuki see the term wu-nien (無念, "without thought," "without recollection," with nien possibly rendered as smṛti, "mindfulness," "memory") as being synonymous to wu-xin [2, 12].

Furthermore, while wunien is common in the texts of the Southern School of Zen, the texts of the Northern School prefer the term "freedom from thought" or "freedom from conceptualization" (離念) [13].

💬 COMMENT: Where does your mind disobey you the most right now?

Just do it (without paralysis by analysis)
No-mind (Mushin calligraphy/cathexis-life)
NO-MIND: The term 無心 contains the Chinese character for negation, "not" or "without" (), along with the character for heart-mind (心).

Likewise, in Sanskrit, the term is a compound of the prefix a- (negation) and the word citta (mind, thought, consciousness, heart).

In China, the term came to mean a state in which there is no mental activity, or a mind free of all discrimination and conceptualization, making it similar to the Buddhist Sanskrit term nisprapañca [9] and the Sanskrit term nirvikalpa [10].

The Zen zero is the enso.
Another similar Sanskrit term is amanasikāra ("non-thinking," "mental non-engagement"), which is found in the works of the 11th century tantric Yogi Maitripa [11].

Some scholars also offer other Sanskrit terms as being the source of the Chinese term wunien, including: a-cintya, a-vikalpa, or a-saṃjñā [2]. More

Megadeth's Dave on real witchcraft

Dave Mustaine (formerly of Metallica then his revenge creation Megadeth) has bad mojo. No one in the metal community really likes him, certainly not his bandmates. Maybe there's a reason -- a bad childhood, trauma, scars, bad choices, and a spooky vibe. He did once make one good album though and at least one truly great song, strangely appropriate in the end:

Calm herbs, Planting Medicine (radio)

Classes (Now and Then Herb School)
Sam Roberts (Now and Then Herb School) explores herbal preparations to treat FEAR.

Hear it in Berkeley on KPFA or Los Angeles on KPFK. What does the Nature's plant farmacy have to help us on our journey to calm and ease?

Planting Medicine airs Tuesdays at 1:00 pm (Pacific Time). The show enhances the community’s knowledge of HERBAL MEDICINE by sharing voices of traditional, holistic healers and healing practices.
Hosted and produced by Emiliano Lemus and Renée Camila. Find archived episodes of The Herbal Highway hosted and produced by Emiliano Lemus and Renée Camila. Archived episodes: The Herbal Highway.

Why study herbalism?

Renée Camila, Mount Shasta, California
“I don't identify as an herbalist, healer, or have a particular interest in medicine.

“So initially I wasn't sure why I felt so drawn to participate in the first cohort of The Home Herbalist (previously the Now and Then Herbal Apprenticeship).

“Several years later, I continue to thank my lucky stars that I followed that impulse and connected with Sam, Renée, and the beautiful cohort I was privileged to be a part of.

Who has time to learn about sacred herbs?
“I think about conversations we had and lessons I learned from them just about every day. With deeply thoughtful, grounded, informative, compassionate, and soulful curriculum, teaching, and guidance, I don't hesitate to recommend this program even if, like me, you don't identify as an herbalist or healer.

“For me it was a loving investment in my own everyday relationship to plants, magic, and medicine on a personal level.

“Watching Sam and Renée follow their paths and cultivate meaningful work in community and relationship is a joy and an inspiration.”

Led Zeppelin and the Occult

Led Zeppelin and the Occult: An Analysis
(The Eleusinian Society) Today we look into the strange style and imagery behind the British hard rock band Led Zeppelin and their ties to occultism, Aleister Crowley, Egypt, and maybe the devil. MTD Media LLC., 2023.

Spiritualism and the Occult
Om system in Thai Forest Tradition
While Buddhism does not encourage preoccupation with such matters, it does not deny the existence of various classes of "discarnate" beings (spirits).

They dwell in various realms and on various planes of existence, some higher and happier than this world, others, such as so-called "hungry ghosts" (petas), more miserable.

They are relatively real — tha is, no less "real" than we ourselves in this [illusory] world. They all, without exception, are in samsara or "birth-and-death." Therefore, their stay in any of the many realms within the 31 Planes of Existence they may inhabit is temporary, though in some cases it may be unbelievably long-lasting by human standards, feeling like an eternity.

There is in line with the idea of rebirth on earth, since what realm one is reborn in depends on one's karma (deeds), the human condition being only one of the various possibilities (though a specifically important one, since enlightenment and liberation from any other realm is held to be virtually impossible).
  • [While this would seem to be true, devas in various realms seemed to have a greater success rate than humans in achieving knowledge-and-vision of what the Buddha was teaching humans. The Buddha was a "teacher of gods (devas) and men (humans)." The percentage of devas who took an interest is unknown, nor is it known how many devas there are (or how many "humans" there are existence since this world is not the only human world. Humans occupy a plane of existence not a singular planet. And there are countless such worlds. Every world-system or cakkavala has a human plane. (Human beings in Buddhism). Regardless of how many there are, more devas attained liberation through wisdom than humans. The Buddha devoted a portion of his daily schedule to teaching devas to ensure their success. Humans got the rest of his time. The full range and influence of the Buddha is imponderable.]
"Stairway to Heaven" is diabolically occult?

Therefore, a human rebirth is considered as desirable as it is rare — a precious opportunity that would be a folly to waste. It is also stated in the texts that humans have a "mind-made [subtle] body, complete in all its parts," which would seem to correspond to the "astral" or "etheric" body referred to by occultists.

Responsible occultists — of whom there are many — are, of course, aware of the dangers of incautious involvement with these matters, which they often stress. The inhabitants of the various realms are not enlightened beings. While some are undoubtedly much wiser and more advanced than the average human, others are not and can exert a malevolent power.

It is outside the province of Buddhist monastics to practice any of the occult arts. It is in fact forbidden that they do so, although it is not infrequently found being done in the East.

Western Buddhists should not concern themselves with such matters. If they nevertheless do so (as many will, whatever is said to the contrary), they should at least be extremely careful to consult only responsible and conscientious practitioners of a high moral standard.

Such people are not hard to find and are often very fine characters. But it should always be borne in mind that even genuine messages from the dead and departed can be misleading, since they are still, in varying degrees, ignorant. For this reason, the well-known triviality of many "spirit" messages proves nothing about their genuineness.

Beings in higher worlds are known in Buddhism as devas, and it seems certain that many of them are truly concerned to help humankind as far as is possible with their power. It might even be suggested that there is no essential difference between the higher devas and the bodhisattvas of Mahayana Buddhism.

Some people are naturally psychic, and some even develop psychic powers as a result, or byproduct, of (jhanic, samadhi) meditation. Such powers are real, but it is unwise to seek after or cling to them if attained. If they are gained with insufficient insight or moral purification, they can be disastrous.

It is another of the many illusions of the modern liberal humanist that such things as "witchcraft" do not exist. Righteous indignation at the cruel treatment of real or alleged witches in the past should not lead us to imagine that the whole thing was completely mythical. So we should be very wary of seeking contact with the psychic planes, not because they do not exist, but because they do. (If they did not exist, comparatively little harm would be done by seeking them out). The Onion buys Alex Jones' InfoWars

I made myself ugly by anger and not taking my own supplements and eating processed foods.

Put down those guns, killer cops and others
Satirical news site The Onion (theonion.com) has won the bidding to acquire the assets of Alex Jones' Infowars, with the support of Sandy Hook [false flag] families. The site unironically acquired Infowars after their auction bid was selected by the court-appointed bankruptcy trustee overseeing the Free Speech Systems bankruptcy proceedings.

Everytown for Gun Safety, the largest gun violence prevention organization in the USA, will be the exclusive launch advertiser for the site in the new venture.
I used to be quite dapper and youthful.
The Onion's goal in acquiring the site was "to end Infowars' relentless barrage of disinformation [and/or misinformation] for the sake of selling supplements and replace it with The Onion's relentless barrage of humor for good," the company said in a press release.

Financial details of the bid were not disclosed. The publication plans to launch the new platform in January 2025.

"The Onion has a long history of helping the American public navigate some of the most difficult moments in American life, from our historic issue after 9/11 to our groundbreaking reportage after every American mass shooting. In that tradition, we hope the Sandy Hook families will be able to marvel at the cosmic joke we will soon make of InfoWars.com," said The Onion's CEO Ben Collins.

Faith Quarterly: Disbelief in Jesus Christ

From Holy to Heretic | Why I left Christianity
C'mon, Kristi, thou shalt submit.
(Kristi Burke) I was born and raised in the Southern Baptist Church and spent my childhood and teen years devoting myself to what I believed to be the good mission of Jesus Christ.

After years of devotion and Bible study, I realized that I no longer had any good reason to believe. I lost nearly everything I once knew and loved to carve out my most authentic path... But it was worth it.

Freewill? I control your life, not you!
I hope that by sharing my story I can bring some comfort, clarity, or validation to others out there who are struggling with their beliefs, too.

Please keep in mind that everything I say here is my subjective experience and opinion. It is intended to deconstruct fundamentalist, Evangelical, conservative Christian ideologies from an ex-Christian perspective. I know what I'm talking about, and there are Christians who will understand.

Dr. Gabor Mate: reset stress to HEAL

How to reset body from chronic stress: Dr. Gabor Mate uncovers the reasons why we get chronic illnesses
(Inside Serene) April 7, 2023. Dr. Gabor Maté is a renowned physician, author, and speaker who has extensively researched the connection between stress [fear] and chronic illnesses.

In his work, he argues that unresolved emotional stress and childhood trauma can have a profound impact on our physical health, leading to the development of chronic diseases such as cancer, [addictions,] autoimmune disorders, and mental health conditions.

According to Dr. Maté, stress and trauma can create a state of chronic inflammation in the body, which can weaken the immune system and make us more vulnerable to illness.

This can be especially true for individuals who have experienced early childhood trauma or ongoing stressors such as poverty, discrimination, or violence.

To address these issues, Dr. Maté emphasizes the importance of addressing the underlying emotional and psychological factors that contribute to chronic illness.

This may involve working with a therapist, practicing mindfulness and self-care, and making lifestyle changes that support overall health and well-being.

"We must be willing to encounter darkness and despair when they come up and face them, over and over again if need be, without running away or numbing ourselves in the thousands of ways we conjure up to avoid the unavoidable."
- Buddhist author Jon Kabat-Zinn

In summary, Dr. Gabor Maté's work highlights the complex relationship between stress, trauma, and chronic illness -- and emphasizes the need for a holistic approach to health that takes into account both the physical and emotional aspects of our well-being.

The power of words to control our emotions can be therapeutic to our mental health. ✅ “I'm here for you.” ✅ “You are not alone.” ✅ “You are worthy and deserving.” ✅ “You don't have to apologize.” ✅ “There is treatment available to you…” ✅ “You are strong!” ✅ Be empowered. ✅ Be intentional. ✅ Be in control.

If one suffers from bipolar disorder like Inside Sereen, there are times one might experience cyclical remission through music and motivational/inspirational speeches to be able to survive every stage of cyclical depression. "Inside Serene" is an alter ego, a trusted friend, a gatekeeper of our Pandora's Box of mindfulness that helps us overcome mental struggles.

Buddhism: How to Let Go (Alan Watts)

Alan Watts: How to Completely Let Go
(Sublime Minds) In this profound and thought-provoking talk, renowned British philosopher Alan Watts delves into the principles of Zen philosophy and the art of letting go.

Zen circle: The nothing in the all (ensō)
Drawing on Eastern wisdom, Watts discusses the role of desire (craving), attachment (clinging), and spiritual energy (prana and chi) in Hindu and Chinese traditions, highlighting and contrasting perspectives, East and West.

Exploring the yogic concept of kundalini (dormant energy wound around base of spine like a serpent) and the significance of redirecting psychic energy, Watts reveals how the practice of yoga aims to elevate consciousness and transcend the dissipating nature of sexuality.

With a blend of Indian Buddhism (Brahmanism's Mahayana school) and Chinese Taoism, Zen emerges as a powerful expression of living awakened while actively engaging in the world.

Watts elucidates the essence of Zen and its unique approach to existence, characterized by being a "king on the outside and the sage on the inside."

He delves into the interplay between practical affairs and inward introspection, offering insights into the Chinese Zen (Chan) tradition and its integration with art, poetry, and academic scholarship.

Throughout this captivating talk, Watts sheds light on the nature of Zen training, emphasizing the dialogue between master and student (guru and chela), and the journey of self-discovery it entails.

He explores the paradoxical nature of Zen, where teachers often reject students and provoke them to persist in [their folly as] their quest for authentic being.

By immersing oneself in meditation, contemplating koans, and embracing a rigorous discipline, students are encouraged to transcend the illusion of self to experience profound liberating-insights.

As Watts narrates captivating anecdotes and shares deep insights, viewers are invited to contemplate the nature of reality, the significance of self-exploration, and the transformative power of embracing this present moment.

Discover the timeless wisdom of Zen philosophy and embark on a journey of self-discovery with a Western guide. Join this enlightening discussion on "letting go" to explore the profound teachings of Zen philosophy with Alan Watts, a masterful orator and philosopher who continues to inspire and challenge our perspectives on life, existence, and the nature of being.

Subscribe for more content focused on enlightening the world. Any video can make a difference, and it is hoped that audiences will find value in the content curated and created here. In this video, Alan Watts discusses morality (sila) and letting go (non-clinging).
ABOUT: Alan Watts was a "spiritual entertainer," British philosopher, and genius. His words have touched many lives, listening repeatedly, hearing it at the right time. Watts was one of the very first philosophers to interpret Eastern philosophy for Western audiences. He was born outside of London in 1915 and in his youth discovered a nearby Buddhist lodge. In 1938 he moved to the United States of America where he first became an Episcopal priest and relocated to Millbrook, New York, where he wrote his most pivotal book The Wisdom of Insecurity: A Message for an Age of Anxiety.

He later moved to the west coast to San Francisco in 1951, where he began to teach Buddhist studies. In 1956 he started his well-known radio show “Way Beyond the West.” By the Sixties, his radio talks were aired nationally. The countercultural movement adopted him as a spiritual genius. He continued to write and travel until the end of his life. #alanwatts #lecture #motivation #motivational #philosophy #spirituality

Pandemic on purpose: Is C-19 real? (audio)

Dr. Simone Gold (AmericasFrontlineDoctorSummit.com), George Noory (coasttocoastam.com, "Coronavirus Controversies," Aug. 10, 2020); Seth Auberon, Pfc. Sandoval (eds.), Wisdom Quarterly

Dr. Simone Gold (aflds.com) is a board-certified emergency room physician who earned her earned a juris doctorate from Stanford University Law School.

As part of America's Frontline Doctors, Dr. Gold condemned Twitter for censoring her account for sharing her expert medical opinion. She believes her free speech rights are being infringed on.

She spoke out about coronavirus and the use of hydroxychloroquine as an effective treatment and preventive prophylactic. Deaths from COVID-19 are mainly seen by older patients with co-morbidities (other medical conditions).

Dr. Gold and the other frontline doctors say the lockdown and closures make no sense based on the medical data related to large population.

I want to see the science and studies (aflds.com)
"What does make rational sense," she says, "is being careful about nursing home and assisted living patients...and giving people access to a drug that works, which is hydroxychloroquine when paired with zinc."

Despite wide-scale reporting that hydroxychloroquine has not proven to be helpful for COVID-19 patients, Dr. Gold contends that the evidence is certain that this treatment (the Zelenko Protocol) works.

When hydroxychloroquine was found not to be effective in medical studies, it was because they [purposely] failed to pair it with zinc, or they gave it to people too late in the disease's progression, she explains.

Who is banning the free speech of doctors?
Dr. Gold is critical of social distancing and mask-wearing, claiming there was a "nefarious intent" behind making Americans live lives of fear.

In addition to zinc with hydroxychloroquine, which she prescribes for prevention, saying it can be taken once a week as a prophylactic, Dr. Gold recommends the anti-inflammatory health food supplements quercetin and melatonin, particularly for older patients. AUDIO or WATCH VIDEO
