Megadeth's Dave on real witchcraft

Dave Mustaine (formerly of Metallica then his revenge creation Megadeth) has bad mojo. No one in the metal community really likes him, certainly not his bandmates. Maybe there's a reason -- a bad childhood, trauma, scars, bad choices, and a spooky vibe. He did once make one good album though and at least one truly great song, strangely appropriate in the end:

Moss People: real forest-dwelling fairies

Hi, I'm Kate Moss. I just love green; there's no relation.
Kate MOSS, yes, she sounds familiar and related to us, all waifish, skin all lichen-like (crepey).
.
Don't look at me. I'm not a Moss!
Trees are greening, flowers are blooming, birds are nesting – why? Spring is in the air! Despite the happy days this brings, be wary of what else may be lurking in deep, dark forests. From German folklore, let's explore the world of the moss people.

In German folklore, moss folk resemble dwarves (called kumbhandas in Buddhist cosmology and gnomes in much of Europe), nearly the size of human children. But they are covered in green moss, with skin that looks gray, and a lot of hair like lichen.

The mossy frog of Vietnam shows off its moss camo

I may be small and love green...
Their arms and legs appear as “knotted maple bark.” Centuries ago, humans considered them part of the fairy realm dedicated to trees and the forest in general.
.
For unknown reasons, the moss people population consisted mostly of females. These “fairies” were known to borrow things from humans and, at other times, ask for help from them.

Maiden (Kettle Quill/Deviant Art)
Occasionally, they would ask humans for breast milk to feed their own moss babies. They repaid their benefactors with good advice or bread.

However, one had to be wary of their quick tempers. If one gave them caraway bread, for instance, they would become very angry and cry, “Caraway bread, our death!”

Some tales describe them as behaving like changelings in that they would sometimes steal very small human children. Female moss people, called Mossfraulein (“moss women”)... More: Moss People creeping out of forests

German witches celebrate pagan Yule

Can Jewish witches celebrate Israel's genocide for German Yule, or is that weird?

How to celebrate Yule | Rituals and Pagan history of the winter solstice
Seven magical destinations for anybody
fascinated by witches (Lonely Planet)
(The witches' cookery) Dec. 10, 2021: On the night from Dec. 21st to the 22nd, we are celebrating the winter solstice or "Yule," as many witches and pagans call it. Merry Yuletide!

In today's witch vlog, I am taking viewers through my winter solstice celebration to give inspiration on how to celebrate Yule, create some yule-themed kitchen witchery with yummy orange and cardamom cookies, show my simple winter solstice ritual, and conjure up a witchy winter brew in my cauldron.

Saint Lucia of Light, Saint Lucy in Sweden, unlike the nasty German version
Let's go back to pagan times and traditions
Of course, this Yule vlog is peppered with pagan history, green witch lore, and lots of information on Yule and the roots of modern Anglo-Saxon Christmas traditions. Hope everyone enjoys this bit of winter witchcraft!

What do you think of the Bavarian celebration of St. Lucia (Goddess of Light in Sweden, Catholicism, and German witchcraft)? It is a bit grim... xD How are we celebrating Yule?

Burning witches ('wise ones') in Salem

What really happened during the Salem Witch Trials | Brian A. Pavlac

I'm a sexy beer brewing witch
(TED-Ed) Dig into how the infamous Salem Witch Trials began and why they remain a cautionary tale of the dangers of groupthink and scapegoating.

You’ve been accused of a crime you did not commit. It’s impossible to prove your innocence. If you insist that you’re innocent anyway, you’ll likely be found guilty and executed. But if you confess, apologize, and implicate (accuse) others, you’ll be set free and they will be arrested. Hmm, what to do?

This was the choice facing those accused by killer Christians of "witchcraft" in Salem, Massachusetts in the 17th century. How did it happen? Brian A. Pavlac investigates.

The "Craft"?
Wisdom Quarterly COMMENTARY
Why, yes, I can drive stick
Hollywood giveth, and Hollywood taketh away. Movie makers and TV show runners create our image of "witches," warts and all. Thanks, Disney! *Sarcasm* But there's a serious his-story of oppression being promoted behind the scenes. No cat ladies allowed, no herbalists, healers, doulas, or "warlocks."

Fine and proper Christians go on rampages they say are ordered by the genocidal tribal god they worship and praise. Why do the war-god's bidding? It's very sad. Living in Judeo-Christian culture, it's difficult to recover what it meant to be "pagan."

What accoutrements do I need to get started?
Those Old Ways, which served us for many pre-Christian centuries, deserve to be preserved. The Wisdom of the East contributed to that wisdom.

It seems "Christians" (Cretins, Yahoos), imperial Romans promoting Ceasar's Messiah, just could not stand any competition of ideas, even if the main character in their narrative traveled to the mystic East to gain his realization and bring his healing gifts to the surface. All this to ask, sexy sponge cake The Craft, helpful or harmful?

Ken Page, Nightmare Before Xmas, dies

People don't really die, do they? Do we?
(Todd Malkin) Ken Page (1954-2024) sings "Oogie Boogie," a song from A Nightmare Before Christmas live @ The Hollywood Bowl on Halloween 2015).

Page has died at 70, according to a close friend. He now faces rebirth, potentially among the unfortunate beings of the dismal hungry ghost realm for his habitual karma on earth. What did he do? He was an actor and singer, counterfeiting the truth on stage, which American Theravada Buddhist monk Ven. Thanissaro suggests is the kind of karma (deeds) that dooms one to miserable consequences.
All is not lost. Such rebirths, however long lived, are impermanent and then one carries on according to one's just desserts. Of course, it is possible that he willed, carried out, and stored up merit and skillful deeds to counteract some or all of the deeds we saw. The working out of karma is imponderable, but general things may be said about it. May Ken Page be well and happy and celebrate skillful deeds done on his behalf by those who remain living on a plane where wholesome actions are possible (such as the human plane).

Why Trump LOST debate: witchcraft (lol)

I'm not a witch. My nose? That doesn't make me a witch! I'm a forewoman (MSNBC).

Maybe this witch did it. Or was it Taylor Swift?!
A weakling and a coward, that what Trump seems like post-debate. He's a weird beta male, and who's the Alpha?

Body language says it is now Queen Kamala, according to an expert brought in to discuss Trump's disastrous debate performance.

It was his 9/11. The expert made it clear that his body language said it all, as did hers.

(The Daily Show) Dogs, cats, loses and lies about it, Swift envy, spin
(Sky News Australia) Fact checking VP Kamala Harris for various "lies"

Makes sense! Trump lost because God was weak and a witch was strong
I knew I could win with the Craft.
A conservative, evangelical, pro-Trump preacher put his own dark magic spin on the right-wing accusation that ABC News — as the host network — rigged Tuesday’s presidential debate in favor of Democratic candidate Kamala Harris, and against GOP nominee Donald Trump. “When I say ‘witchcraft’ I am talking about what happened tonight,” Christian Pastor Lance Wallnau wrote Wednesday on X (Twitter). “Occult empowered deception, manipulation and domination. That’s what ABC pulled off as moderators, and Kamala’s script handlers set up the kill box,” the pastor continued.

But God rules everything.
“It’s not over yet,” Pastor Wallnau claimed, appearing to refer to Trump’s campaign. “But something supernatural needs to disrupt this counterfeit momentum because the same public that voted in [former President Barack] Obama is voting again, and her deception is advancing,” he added. Christian pastor claims witchcraft to blame for Donald Trump's bad debate [and all the MAGA prayers failed him]

Tibet's 'Saint' Milarepa, demons, murder

[Crazy] Milarepa: The mass murderer who became enlightened in Tibetan Buddhism
(Asangoham) July 27, 2024: Milarepa, the Lord of Yogis, is today recognized as one of Tibet’s great masters and an accomplished meditation teacher and practitioner, admired for his tenacity, courage, and discipline. [This is odd given his crimes, which no one disputes, like those of reformed Angulimala.]

He is celebrated as “the most renowned figure in Tibetan culture, the quintessential Tibetan folk hero.”

However, his life began with considerable hardship. Like this metaphor, his path was a journey of facing and integrating his own demons, transitioning from confusion to awakening.

Initially caught in samsara, the cycle of mundane existence, like we are, he committed to the practice of the Dharma, the way of wisdom.

His story is not that of a saint; on the contrary, it is a deeply human story. It shows us that even a great master has to deal with immense challenges such as loss and revenge.

"Every saint has a past,
every sinner a future."

It narrates the transition from a murderer to one of Tibet’s most famous yogis. Today's video is about the extraordinary life and teachings of Jetsun Milarepa, Tibet's most revered yogi and poet.

This inspiring story explores the remarkable life of Milarepa, from his tumultuous childhood to his attainment of enlightenment through intense meditation and devotion.

Learn about Milarepa's profound teachings on the nature of reality, the importance of compassion, and the path to achieving spiritual liberation. Delve into his remarkable songs of realization, which have inspired generations of Tibetan Buddhist practitioners.

This video is a must-watch for anyone interested in Tibetan Buddhism, yoga, and Himalayan spirituality. Whether one is a seasoned practitioner or just starting a spiritual journey, Milarepa's life and teachings offer valuable insight and inspiration for living a more meaningful and fulfilling life.

Milarepa bad, says Chinese Mahayana nun
An Aghori Yogi or Bon priest?
As a young American Buddhist, not knowing that there was more than one Buddhism, I would a converted church building near the Sino-American Center on 6th Street near Chinatown in Downtown LA. It was a Chinese Mahayana church/temple run by nuns, but I didn't know. There were Japanese Soto Zen temples nearby. (This way the state of Buddhism back the Eighties). It was as creepy as a Catholic mass, but nicer things were being said. Eventually, I attended similar services in Maywood (a tiny city in LA County) which bought land and built the massive Hacienda Heights temple (
arcgis.com). Through years of struggle, one temple morphed into the other as Maywood realized its dream of building Hsi Lai Temple ("Going West" Monastery and Nunnery). Back in those early days, there was a great master (Ven. Hsing Yun) of which they spoke. He was in Taiwan, touring the world, or at Master Hsuan Hua's City of Ten Thousand Buddhas, which kindly donated some of its rural land for the setting up of a Thai Theravada Buddhist Abbey (wat or vihara) called Abhayagiri Buddhist Monastery in Redwood Valley, where Americans train to be monks in the Thai Forest Tradition of Ajahn Chah and other Buddhist meditation masters. In one such Buddhist service, I remember a Chinese nun presenting what might have been her thesis or research as a nun. It was a pamphlet all about Milarepa's crimes, showing that he could not have been a Buddhist monk or anyone to look up to given his biography. (This means his misdeeds after ordination disqualified him and meant he was not attained to sainthood/enlightenment, regardless of his popularity among average Tibetans). But that's mainstream Mahayana thinking (which was in line with Theravada monasticism), and Milarepa belongs to Bon-heavy Esoteric Himalayan Buddhism from Tibet, which is a school known as Vajrayana. It aligns itself with the massive Mahayana Buddhist school, but it is distinct in many ways. The indigenous Bon tradition is all about black magic, shamanism, necromancy, and vengeance.

Taylor Swift's Satanic rituals on tour
Taylor Swift has been bizarrely accused of performing demonic rituals at her concerts by Boyzone 's Shane Lynch

How could anyone call me Satanic? Ask my sis Z
(Amelia Wynne, 2/27/24) Taylor Swift has been bizarrely accused of performing demonic rituals at her concerts by Boyzone's Shane Lynch. The Style hitmaker, 34, is currently touring the world on her sold-out Eras tour, with seven shows in Sydney and Melbourne. But now Shane, 47 (who is a Pentecostal born again Christian), has taken aim at the American pop star and other artists who perform "demonic" rituals without audiences "even realizing [what's going on]." Lynch told Ireland's Sunday World newspaper: "I think when you're looking at a lot of the artists out there, a lot of their stage shows are Satanic rituals live in front of 20,000 people without them realizing and recognizing [it]. You'll see a lot of hoods up and masks on and fire ceremonies." More:
