Moss People: real forest-dwelling fairies

Hi, I'm Kate Moss. I just love green; there's no relation.
Kate MOSS, yes, she sounds familiar and related to us, all waifish, skin all lichen-like (crepey).
.
Don't look at me. I'm not a Moss!
Trees are greening, flowers are blooming, birds are nesting – why? Spring is in the air! Despite the happy days this brings, be wary of what else may be lurking in deep, dark forests. From German folklore, let's explore the world of the moss people.

In German folklore, moss folk resemble dwarves (called kumbhandas in Buddhist cosmology and gnomes in much of Europe), nearly the size of human children. But they are covered in green moss, with skin that looks gray, and a lot of hair like lichen.

The mossy frog of Vietnam shows off its moss camo

I may be small and love green...
Their arms and legs appear as “knotted maple bark.” Centuries ago, humans considered them part of the fairy realm dedicated to trees and the forest in general.
.
For unknown reasons, the moss people population consisted mostly of females. These “fairies” were known to borrow things from humans and, at other times, ask for help from them.

Maiden (Kettle Quill/Deviant Art)
Occasionally, they would ask humans for breast milk to feed their own moss babies. They repaid their benefactors with good advice or bread.

However, one had to be wary of their quick tempers. If one gave them caraway bread, for instance, they would become very angry and cry, “Caraway bread, our death!”

Some tales describe them as behaving like changelings in that they would sometimes steal very small human children. Female moss people, called Mossfraulein (“moss women”)... More: Moss People creeping out of forests

Captive ETs alive at Sandia Labs (Gaia)

We capture, kidnap, take captive visiting ETs with help from other ETs as part of our SSPs.

Captive ETs at Sandia Labs in New Mexico
(Gaia) April 9, 2025: The Secret Space Programs (SSP) are willing to extract information by any means necessary, but is there a limit?

Sébastien Martin, a perception-based intelligence specialist (remote viewer), exposes the secretive depths of Sandia Labs, revealing the dire conditions of humanoid beings incarcerated within glass cells.

Surrounded by gas chambers and deprived of their telepathic abilities, these captive space beings endure a distressing environment, manipulated and observed as mere subjects for human analysis (overseen by more powerful ETs).

As Martin unveils the harsh realities faced by humanoid ETs, one must question: In the SSP’s relentless pursuit of technological advancement, has all morality been sacrificed?

Americans fear bad gov't more than ghosts

Anna P. Kambhampaty, The New York Times, Oct. 28, 2021; Eds., Wisdom Quarterly

.
Many Americans believe in ghosts. Do you?
Belief in paranormal phenomena may be a way of grappling with the unknown.

There are a number of different ways to quantify belief among Americans in so-called paranormal phenomena. One way is to ask a selection of people representative of the population if they believe in ghosts. In a 2019 IPSOS poll, 46 percent of respondents said they did.

Another is to ask what they fear. In 2019, according to the Chapman University Survey of American Fears, about 9 percent of 1,035 adults surveyed said they feared ghosts, and the same amount said they feared zombies; many more people said they were afraid of government corruption, the coronavirus or widespread civil unrest.

The last time Gallup surveyed people about ghosts, in 2005, 32 percent of respondents said they believed in “ghosts or that spirits of dead people can come back in certain places and situations.” When Gallup asked the same question in 1990, the result was 25 percent.

Such beliefs have pervaded American culture and media for centuries. But some researchers are now studying whether their rise may be tied, in part, to the rise over the last few decades of Americans claiming no religious preference.

“People are looking to other things or nontraditional things to answer life’s big questions that don’t necessarily include religion,” said Thomas Mowen, a sociologist at Bowling Green State University.

For a continuing study on religion and paranormal belief, for example, Mr. Mowen said he is finding that “atheists tend to report higher belief in the paranormal than religious folk.”

‘This Supernatural Interest’
They're in here. Beware.
Last year, the share of Americans who belong to religious congregations fell below 50 percent for the first time in more than 80 years, according to a Gallup poll released in March. And the percent of people claiming no religion nearly tripled from 1978 to 2018, according to the General Social Survey.

Still, even as religious frameworks for thinking about the meaning of life and death have become less popular in the United States, the big existential questions inevitably remain.

The General Social Survey found that as religious affiliation declined over four decades, belief in the afterlife remained relatively steady: In 1978, about 70 percent of those surveyed believed in the afterlife, and about 74 percent reported the same in 2018.

As Joseph Baker, the co-author of the book “American Secularism: Cultural Contours of Nonreligious Belief Systems,” put it: “People are outside of organized religions, but they still have this supernatural interest.” More

NPR: Bones in cave may rewrite human history

(NPR,; CC Liu, Seth Auberon (eds.), Wisdom Quarterly
Archaeologist Armand Salvador Mijares was digging in this island cave in 2007 when he discovered an ancient bone unlike a modern human's (Callao Cave Archaeology Project).
.
Ancient bones and teeth found in a Philippine cave may rewrite human history
The realm of the Mountain King (Edvard Grieg)
An unusual species of human [Hobbit?] apparently lived on the island of Luzon in the Philippines as recently as 50,000 years ago.

Based on teeth and bones found there, scientists suspect that these early humans probably stood less than 4 feet tall and had several apelike features.
Trolls and fairy princesses were real.
Yet, the researchers say, the bones are distinctly human -- from a previously undiscovered species.

The first clue was a bone that surfaced in 2007. Archaeologist Armand Salvador Mijares was digging in a cave on the island of Luzon and found a toe bone.

He says it didn't look like a modern human bone. "There's something peculiar with this bone," he recalls thinking. But one bone wasn't enough to say for sure who or what it belonged to. More

"Darby O'Gill and the Little People" (video)

Dhr. Seven (ed.), Wisdom Quarterly; Robert Smith (video)

Who but children can believe in these aliens?
Darby O'Gill and the Little People is a 1959 Walt Disney Productions feature film starring Albert Sharpe, Janet Munro, Sean Connery, and Jimmy O'Dea, in a tale about a wily Irishman and his battle of wits with leprechauns.

Ireland, aerial view (wiki)
The film was directed by Robert Stevenson and its screenplay written by Lawrence Edward Watkin after the books of Herminie Templeton Kavanagh.

The film's title is a slight modification of one of the two Kavanagh books, Darby O'Gill and the Good People. This book and her other book, The Ashes of Old Wishes and Other Darby O'Gill Tales, were the sources for this beloved Irish fairy tale movie. More

Woodland FAIRIES are real (video)

John Walker (Noah's Dove); Dhr. Seven, Pat Macpherson, A. Larson (eds.), Wisdom Quarterly

Fairy-human hybrids?
[In Buddhism this diverse class of more subtle beings -- often shapeshifters with the "power of transformation" -- are called devas, garudas, kumbandhas, nagas, petas, narakas, asuras, rakshasas, yakkhas, or shining ones or elementals, nymphs or avians, dwarfs or gnomes, dragons or reptoids, ghosts or ghouls, hellions, titans or giants, demons or inimicals, ogres and wildmen, and so on.]

Fairy Faith: Evidence, Reality, Origin Theory
John Walker (Noah's Dove, Oct. 8, 2015)
Noah's DoveIn the lore of Ireland (sidhe), Scandinavia, and Scotland, when God cast out the arrogant angels from heaven, they became the evil spirits that plague humankind, tormenting us and inflicting us to harm.

Disney has done harm and good by its depictions.
The ones who fell into hell and into caves and abysses became devils and death-maidens.

However, those who fell onto the earth became goblins, imps, dwarfs, thumblings, alps, noon-and-evening-ghosts, and will-o'-the-wisps.

Those who fell into the forests became the wood-spirits who live there: the hey-men, the wild-men, the forest-men, the wild-women, and the forest-women.

Finally, those who fell into the water became water spirits: water-men, mermaids, and merwomen. These angels were condemned to remain where they were, becoming the faeries of seas and rivers, the earth, and the air (sacred-texts.com/neu/celt...).

III. IN SCOTLAND
The Fairy-Faith in Celtic Countries by W.Y. Evans-Wentz, 1911, pp. 85-86, Intro. by Alexander Carmichael, Hon. LL.D. of the Univ. of Edinburgh; author of Carmina Gadelica
Water maiden, sea devi, Golden Mermaid on Prince Frederick's Barge, 1732 (wiki)

The belief in fairies was once common throughout Scotland -- Highland and Lowland. It is now much less prevalent even in the Highlands and islands, where such beliefs linger longer than they do in the Lowlands. But it still lives among the old people, and is privately entertained here and there even among younger people; and some who hold the belief declare that they themselves have seen fairies.

Various theories have been advanced as to the origin of fairies and as to the belief in them. The most concrete form in which the belief has been urged has been by the Rev. Robert Kirk, Minister of Aberfoyle, in Perthshire.

Another theory of the origin of fairies I took down in the island of Miunghlaidh (Minglay); and, though I have given it in Carmina Gadelica, it is sufficiently interesting to be quoted here. During October 1871, Roderick Macneill, known as 'Ruaraidh mac Dhomhuil, then ninety-two years of age, told it in Gaelic to the late J. F. Campbell of Islay and the writer, when they were storm-stayed in the precipitous island of Miunghlaidh, Barra:--

Faeries by Brian Froud and Alan Lee
The Proud Angel fomented a rebellion among the angels of heaven, where he had been a leading light. He declared that he would go and found a kingdom for himself. When going out at the door of heaven the Proud Angel brought prickly lightning and biting lightning out of the doorstep with his heels. Many angels followed him -- so many that at last the Son called out, "Father! Father! the city is being emptied!" whereupon the Father ordered that the gates of heaven and the gates of hell should be closed. This was instantly done. And those who were in were in, and those who were out were out; while the hosts who had left heaven and had not reached hell flew into the holes of the earth, like the stormy petrels. These are the Fairy Folk--ever since doomed to live under the ground, and only allowed to emerge where and when the King permits. They are never allowed abroad on Thursday, that being Columba's Day; nor on Friday, that being the Son's Day; nor on Saturday, that being Mary's Day; nor on Sunday, that being the Lord's Day.

God be between me and every fairy,
Every ill wish and every druidry;
To-day is Thursday on sea and land,
I trust in the King that they do not hear me.

On certain nights when their bruthain (bowers) are open and their lamps are lit, and the song and the dance are moving merrily, the fairies may be heard singing lightheartedly:--

Not of the seed of Adam are we,
Nor is Abraham our father;
But of the seed of the Proud Angel,
Driven forth from Heaven.

Winged humanoid found in Mexico (video)

Express.co.uk; Mexican-American newsman Jaime Maussan, paranormal investigators Brien Foerster and L.A. Marzulli (C2C); CC Liu, Dhr. Seven (eds.), Wisdom Quarterly

This very odd creature was seen in an office in Mexico City in January 2016. Trained biologist Brien Foerster has had a hard time thinking it fake. More: lamarzulli.net

Body of bizarre winged humanoid found
That's one of the bad ones.
A group of paranormal researchers are attempting to determine the nature and origins of a strange winged creature [Latin American/Iberian duende, Filipino duwende, or Buddhist kumbhanda?] discovered in Mexico.

The tiny oddity boasts what appears to be a humanoid body along with a set of wings, causing some to suggest that it could be a fairy or an alien [or a goblin or elf judging by the head and vicious teeth].
Creature preserved in a jar in a lab
Brien Foerster says that he spotted the bizarre creature floating in a specimen jar at an office in Mexico back in January.

Since then, it has been subjected to X-ray and DNA analysis, which showed that the organic form contains an inner skeleton [and buckshot indicating that it was shot out of the sky and killed by a human].

In the video, which unveiled the creature, author L.A. Marzulli speaks with a man who appears to be the scientist who conducted the tests.

They conclude that the oddity could not be a hoax because the X-ray scan would have revealed it as such if it were a doll or some other fabrication.

Buddhist "fairy" = Earth devi.
In light of the bone structure found inside the creature, researchers hope to extract and analyze DNA from it to learn more about what it might be. [The first test was inconclusive because it had sat too long in formaldehyde].

Despite the fantastic nature of the creature, it would be best to exercise caution before leaping to a paranormal conclusion, since a number of previous "alien bodies" have been disproved in the past.

Nonetheless, it is hoped that future tests on the mysterious discovery will show whether it has a terrestrial or extraterrestrial origin. More

BBC: Is Asian Bigfoot human?

The Hobbit like Humanoids of South East Asia BBC documentary 2015.

Asia DocumentariesThe Hobbit-like humanoids of Southeast Asia known as Homo floresiensis ("Flores Island Man," nicknamed Hobbit and Flo) are an extinct human species, yet people still see them in the forest.

What are they seeing? There are miniature "Bigfoot" creatures, a Wild Man or warm weather Yeti, living in Asia. Others like Bigfoot, the Skunk Ape of Florida, Yeren of China, Yowie of Australia, Mande Barung, Yeti of the Himalayas, Almas of Georgia and Russia, and Barmanou.

Native Americans call them Sasquatches but varieties are distributed throughout the world.

Buddhism describes many fellow creatures, which are humanoids but living remotely in forests and jungles, mountains and waterways, as well as underground and in the sky (space, out there in the akasha).

Orang Pendek

Orang Pendek (Indonesian for "short person") is the most common name given to a cryptid, or cryptozoological creature, that reports say  inhabits remote, mountainous forests on the island of formerly Buddhist Sumatra, Indonesia.

It has allegedly been seen and documented for at least 100 years by forest tribes, local villagers, Dutch colonists, and Western scientists and travellers. Consensus among witnesses is that the creature is a ground-dwelling, bipedal primate that is covered in short fur and stands between 30 and 60 inches (80 and 150 cm) tall... More

Hobbits
I'm human.
Hobbits are kumbandhas, dwarfs, gnomes, duendes, tiny humanoids (aboriginals), possibly a kind of yakkha, a creature with more attuned powers than humans and higher than animals.

Science has now confirmed that they were around 13,000 years ago with evidence of them going back 700,000 years ago. Archeological remains show that they hunted komodo dragons, the largest lizards in the world today. They have been around, of course, much longer as have "modern" humans, according to Michael Cremo.

There are many, many kinds of "human" on this planet and others

Buddhism

The live in the southern quarter, and Virūlha (D.ii.257) is the great sky king in charge of them. In the Vidhurapandita Jātaka (J.vi.272), Kumbhīra is mentioned as one of their chiefs. They have characteristically large bellies (kumbhanda = gourd), and their genitals are as big as pots (kumbho viya), which gives them their name (D.iii.198; DA.iii.964).

Hobbits: 700,000-year-old mini humans (audio)

Christopher Joyce (NPR); CC Liu, Seth Auberon, Ashley Wells, Wisdom Quarterly  UPDATED

(NOVA with Robert Krulwich) "The Little People of Flores" - The best thing about the "Hobbits" [Buddhist kumbandhas, Spanish duendes] of Indonesia is that they still exist! Guest: Dr. Jared Diamond (UCLA).

Kumbhandās are a class of beings (gnomes) in Buddhist cosmology classified with yakkhas (ogres, yetis), rakkhasas (demons, killer yetis), asuras (titans, giants), and others. Virūlha is the regent sky-king overseeing them. They have large bellies (kumbhanda=gourd), and their genitals are also large like pots (kumbho viya), which is how they get their name (D.iii.198; DA.iii.964).
Fossils suggest that island life shrank our "Hobbit" relatives

Christopher Joyce 2010
Modern ape C. Joyce
It's easy to think that evolution led inevitably to modern humans, the cleverest of apes. But there were some strange excursions along the way. Take, for example, the Hobbits.

That's the nickname for a 3-foot-tall human relative that once lived in what is now Indonesia. A new discovery suggests that it was island life that created this dainty creature.

A reconstruction of Homo floresiensis by Atelier Elisabeth Daynes.
Hobbit: human or ape? (Kinaz Riza/Nature)
[But this is a ridiculous excuse that hides the truth of super ancient human roots and diversity. Forbidden archeology is a name for ignored and hidden evidence for human antiquity, the existence of many offshoots, some of them giants others robust and our presence as Homo sapien sapiens, said to be 30K years old when we go back perhaps 300M years, as Michael Cremo explains to the consternation of gatekeepers promoting Darwinian evolution that is demonstrably mistaken. Because the physical evidence cannot possibly be explained by the favored theory, it cannot possibly exist, but it does, so it is forbidden.]
  • Assuming Hobbits are not human but apes, a reconstruction of Homo floresiensis by Atelier Elisabeth Daynes will add hair and ape features to a human body (Kinaz Riza/Nature).
Anthropologists first found the bones of the Hobbits in 2004 on the Indonesian island of Flores. Their scientific name is Homo floresiensis.

They were chimp-size, with tiny brains and long arms, but they had stone tools and teeth much like ours. They lived about 60,000 years ago [but new mainstream science evidence pushes back that date to 700,000 years]. Who were they?

One idea had it that larger human ancestors from Africa -- likely Homo erectus -- ended up on this island. Then they shrank [a ridiculous explanation but scientists are desperate explain away the evidence], because on islands, animals sometimes evolve to become smaller.

But up to that point, there was no evidence that this "island dwarfism" applied to human ancestors, and people had a hard time accepting it.

"For some reason," says Aida Gomez-Robles, an anthropologist at George Washington University, "when we saw that the same thing can happen to us, to humans, this is when people started to think, 'Oh, my God, this is not possible.'" In fact, some scientists believed Hobbits were just modern humans with some abnormality, like microcephaly, that changed their head shape and made them smaller.

Scientists have now found more tiny, Hobbit-like bones on Flores. Some teeth and part of a lower jaw. Shockingly, the bones date back 700,000 years -- way older than the first Hobbits and predating [accepted dates for] modern humans by hundreds of thousands of years.
Here is a short video on the Homo Floresiensis, a small hobbit like creature that is more like a human being than originally thought...

Gerrit van den Bergh from Wollongong University in Australia says clearly, this was a long-standing population of very different human relatives.

"Human diversity could have been far greater than we have ever realized," he says. Writing in the journal Nature, van den Bergh suggests that ancient human ancestors, probably Homo erectus, traveled from Africa to Asia. They reached this island, perhaps carried by a tsunami. He notes that the tsunami in Indonesia in 2004 did something like that.

"A week after that event," he says, "several people were picked up out from the sea, some floating 60 kilometers from the coast, and they were just clinging to a tree."

Once the Hobbits got to Flores, van den Bergh surmises, island dwarfism set in -- they slowly got smaller. Scientists found fossil elephants on the island that also did that over time.

This aerial image taken in October 2015 shows the Mata Menge site on Flores where bones dating back 700,000 years were found.
This aerial image taken in October 2015 shows the Mata Menge site on Flores where bones dating back 700,000 years were found (Kinez Riza/Nature).

Despite their small brains, the Hobbits were smart enough to make stone tools. But Adam Brumm from Griffith University in Australia says they didn't seem to get any smarter.

"This technology, whatever it was used for, essentially stayed the same for hundreds and hundreds of thousands of years on this island," he says, "which is intriguing to say the least."

SEX with Elna, pygmies in Burma (video)

Prophet Joseph Smith, can you forgive her?
A young woman recounts the difficulty of being a clean cut Mormon in New York City, which somehow Mittens Romney is able to do even in dirtier, weirder Washington, D.C. Young Elna Baker is a writer and comedian, whose book The New York Regional Mormon Singles Halloween Dance was published by Penguin in 2009. She currently resides in NY, but this disclosure was not the highlight of one night at The Moth.

Alan Rabinowitz with The Taron (NatGeo)
That honor goes to Alan Rabinowitz and his amazing story of hiking in Buddhist Burma in a far off part of the country where the world's only surviving group of Mongoloid pygmies (a kind of human, possibly the kumbhanda of Buddhist lore, going extinct, The Taron) were said to have been spotted by an earlier explorer. He guides his companions in and finds the remnants of the tribe.
