Girl fight: AOC v Greene, Congress catfight

BREAKING NEWS: All hell breaks loose when Republican Marjorie Taylor Greene directly insults Black Jasmine Crockett
(Forbes Breaking News) May 16, 2024: At tonight's House Oversight Committee hearing, [white] Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene's (R-GA) insult of [Black] Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) plunged the hearing into chaos, particularly when Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) jumped in and took sides against Greene. Then Crockett got in the best line of the night, openly mocking Greene in the form of a hypothetical question about badly bleached blond hair and a butch body. Ehem, Marjorie? Sadly, the old white men in charge did not understand the question.

MAGA Reps. Gaetz and Boebert get heckled at the Trump circus trial

Girls used to be so classy. Now it's all petty ego.
On Thursday, May 16, 2024, evening, a House Oversight Committee hearing intended to hold Attorney General Merrick Garland in contempt quickly devolved into a heated and disorderly exchange between Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Marjorie Taylor Greene.

The session was initially convened to address Garland's refusal to comply with a subpoena for an audio recording of Pres/ Biden's interview with a special counsel. However, tensions flared when Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene made a derogatory comment about Rep. Jasmine Crockett's appearance, prompting an intense response from [AOC] Rep. Ocasio-Cortez [who got all Puerto Rican or Cuban and New Yorker with a kind of, Oh no you diddent, aw hell no you diddent kind of vibe, made worse by the addition of "baby girl."

During the hearing, Greene interrupted Crockett with a personal attack, stating, "I think your fake eyelashes are messing up what you’re reading."

This remark led to audible groans in the chamber and a plea for order from Committee Chairman James Comer.

Ocasio-Cortez immediately called for Greene's words to be "taken down," a procedural move allowing the speaker to withdraw or amend the words if deemed inappropriate.

I'm from New York. I eat Greenes for lunch.
Greene's retort, "Are your feelings hurt?" was met with Ocasio-Cortez's sharp response, "Oh girl, baby girl! Don’t even play!"

Ocasio-Cortez insisted that Greene's comments were unacceptable and demanded a sincere apology to Rep. Crockett, rejecting any insincere or smarmy apologies.

Despite the heated back-and-forth, Greene eventually agreed to strike her words but refused to apologize, further insulting Ocasio-Cortez's intelligence.

You want some, B*tch? - Are you talkin to me?
The situation escalated when Rep. Jamie Raskin asked Greene again if she would apologize, to which she defiantly replied, "You will never get an apology out of me."

The contentious exchange highlighted deep divisions and personal animosities among committee members, drawing significant attention and criticism.

Rep. Crockett later expressed her frustration on social media, emphasizing the inappropriate and chaotic behavior displayed by some members of Congress.

Mean Girls Day+Nat'l Boyfriend Day (10/3)

Jen Bradford (Dharma Buddhist Meditation), Ashley Wells (ed.), Wisdom Quarterly
I fell in love with his fashion sense and love of cats. - I pretend to love cats with this tee for her.
Mean Girls launched Lindsay L.
October 3 has some odd observances and holidays associated with it. First of all, it's National Boyfriend Day. Who thought of that, some crafty boyfriend looking for a little loving or a hopelessly in love galpal?

Bet it was the boy because they fall harder and faster even though girls have the reputation as being the lovelorn victims.
Dr. Wendy Walsh on Demand | iHeart.com
Listen to Dr. Wendy Walsh and you, too, would know this. She's on iheart.com (KFI 640 AM Los Angeles) on Sunday nights and is a pretty balanced radio host compared to DJs like Delilah on the radio (or whoever does the dedication show nowadays that promotes the view that men and chivalrous and in love but just can't say it too well and/or women are devoted and not cheating).

What's a "soulmate"? My bestie-partner?

Men hunt. Women wait? That sucks.
They're probably cheating, guys, so man up for the shock. You may never find out, and what's better, to know or not to know? Get a home camera to find out. Ladies, you pick up what I'm putting down. Why?

Because it's Mean Girls Day today, too. We're petty, vindictive, and very competitive with one another while currying favor with the boss. The boss, who's the boss? The men. It's a man's world, not because it has to be -- not because it always was -- but because they've taken over and built a hierarchy called The Patriarchy.

Ask Ken. Or ask the Pope (Catholic), the Russian Patriarch (Eastern Orthodox), the Boogeyman (the "Grand Dragon" or whoever unofficially calls the shots in a Protestant Council of Elders). Someone, for example, decides even for Presbyterians, and "presbyrs" means something like "the people." So if the People's Church has a boss, the majority Christians are not just running wild, except maybe in the USA.

Boyfriend troubles? Female frenemies?
Cupid (Eros, Kamadeva, Mara Devaputra), who encourages "clinging" is evil.

Musick: Olivia tops Taylor, Irish Allie, Flo&Ed

TEAM S (eds.), Wisdom Quarterly; Olivia Rodrigo Anti-Swiftie; Scandalous Media; Chris Carter ("Breakfast with the Beatles, KLOS, 9/3/23, Flo & Eddie, "Keep It Warm," last.fm)

Style: 11 O-Rod outfits (Who What Wear UK)
Ha ha, schadenfreude ("delight in other's downfall") strikes again! Taylor Swift was toppled this morning from the Number 1 spot on America's Top 40 (on
KIIS-FM) with fay Ryan Seacrest.

Nazi Barbie has been on top thanks mostly to the hoopla with the Eras[e your mind] Tour, the new movie about it [to hypnotize everyone who couldn't afford tickets to be put under live].
New beauty queen with No. 1 hit!
But her hit song has been shoved aside, like "Karma" was, by young Latinx superstar Olivia Rodrigo.

Meanwhile, Queen B (Beyonce) is doing her level best to top Taylor's tour take in with an even bigger and more profitable tour. QB just finished a run in LA this weekend with less mesmerism but more talent on display. The schadenfreude about it all is that O-Rod beat Tay-Tay with a song about Taylor Swift, who's a: "bloodsucker, fame f*cker, bleeding [Olivia] dry like a goddamn vampire."
When did you first realize you were going EVIL, Taylor? - It's not easy to stay on top, WQ.
.
Did O-Rod write "Vampire" about T-Swift? (Uh, duh)
(Scandalous Media) July 20, 2023: After a huge fallout following the royalties' drama...Olivia Rodrigo seems to take a dig at her former heroine and pop idol, Taylor Swift, in her new song "VAMPIRE"! #taylorswift #oliviarodrigo #vampire [It's Britney Spears v. Christina Aguilera all over again! Oh you, Hollywood music business, always being all business!]

A Buddhist prayer for Taylor Swift
Beauty AND talent? Even Ed Sheeran couldn't manage that! T-Swift is more looks than songs
.
Oli adds Taylor as writer on 'Deja Vu' (People)
Hey, schadenfreude's bad karma, like, essentially the opposite of sending someone metta (loving-kindness). So let us pray for Taylor Swift:

"May Taylor be well.
May Taylor be happy.
May Taylor be free.
May she look after herself with joy and ease.
May no harm come to her.
May no problems come to her.
May she have a good, happy, and prosperous present."

The Buddha was right. We feel better already. Olivia is smart. She won't let Nazi Barbie The Devil Ms. Tay-Tay Swift get her down. Oli's bloodied but unbowed.

The inspiring story of Irish busker Allie Sherlock

(DW Euromaxx) Aug. 26, 2023: DUBLIN Ambitious, talented, and a rising star at just 18, Irish Allie Sherlock is one of Ireland’s most successful street musicians. Her renditions of songs by the likes of Ed Sheeran, Amy Winehouse, or Adele have not only given goosebumps to passersby, but have also captivated millions of fans on YouTube. DW visits Allie on Dublin's Grafton Street and follow her home to Cork County, Ireland, where she also works on original songs and talks about the tragic circumstances that music has helped her through, like the time she came to Hollywood, Los Angeles to be on ['orrible] Ellen's TV show.

LYRICS: "Keep It Warm" (Flo & Eddie)

Write another song for the money
Something they can sing, not so funny
Money in the bank to keep us warm

Stick another grape in [her] juicer
Or fill your guts with grease and get looser
You are what you eat, so eat it warm

Roll another joint for the Gipper
Get the Gipper high, he gets hipper
Stick it in his mouth and keep him warm

Elect another jerk to the White House
Gracie Slick is losing her Dormouse
Take her off the streets and keep her warm

Fight another war if they make you
Squeal on a friend or they'll take you
The future's in your lap, so keep it warm...

Warm, here in your arms, safe from all harm,
Where I belong, warm, cozy and calm,
Another dawn together warm...

My woodie's broken down by the beach now
And TM's gotten far out of reach now
Tell the Mahareesh to keep it warm

George is suing Paul, suing Ringo
All they need is love, to keep them warm

Kill another whale with your power
Or shoot a bunch of kids from a tower
Snipe them in their cars, blood keeps them warm

Make a better world from the old one
Make yourself a baby and hold one
Hold her in your arms and keep her warm

Keep her warm,
Keep her warm,
Keep her warm... [because blood is better warm]

It's summertime. The livin' ain't easy (video)

Ananda (Dharma Buddhist Meditation), Dhr. Seven, Jen Bradford, Wisdom Quarterly; Lana Del Rey ("Doin Time"); Leonardo DiCaprio (The Beach
A young Leonardo DiCaprio goes to Buddhist Thailand in the movie The Beach, scenes shown to Lana Del Rey's version of Sublime's "Doin' Time"

B*tch, please! Life has NO meaning. Let's party.
It's summertime, and the livin' ain't easy. Life still has no meaning! What is my passion? How will I make profits to have enough money to think about these deep questions in Buddhist and formerly-Buddhist:
That phony Christopher Howard came up with a great title, Turning Passions into Profits, but what is my passion? This monk wrote a better title and book called What the Buddha Taught.

According to that, I could figure this all out. I could set off on the Vimutti-magga, The Path to Freedom. I could get on the Visuddhi-magga, The Path of Purification, too.

We have to find a way to stop plastic debris ocean pollution: about.cleanomic.com/bags
.
Who cares what the Buddha said? He's not the Creator
I care. Here's why. Let's say we spend our whole life searching for the "meaning" of life.

Then, say, one day far in the future, science, religion, some genius, or the whole world comes to agree that the ANSWER to "life, the universe, and everything" is 42.

So what? What did it help? We'll say, "What the heck's that supposed to mean?" Then we'll go in search of the QUESTION. After a long time, we may find it, 10,000 generations from now. It was, "How many roads must a person travel?"

So what? What did it help? Nothing! The meaning of life wasn't the thing to be pursuing. That wasn't the problem, and it wasn't going to lead to the solution. All of our popular metaphysical/philosophical questions are dumb for the same reason.

The Buddha explained this beautifully in a powerful simile: Say a person gets shot by an arrow and seeks out a doctor. The doctor, seeing the arrow, goes to pull it out. But the person, being philosophical and a questioning sort says, "Wait a minute. Before I let you take it out, you have to answer some questions first."

"Really?" the doctor asks. "What are the questions?" "Well, for one thing, who shot me? Why did he shoot me? What did he shoot me with? What poison? What is this arrow made of? Yada, yada, yada."

"Let me take it out or, better yet, let me tell you how to take it out." "Hell, no, not until I get some answers."

"Well, even if I could answer, and I probably could, you would die long before you understood any of that stuff. Let's take it out, you live, and if you want, you pursue those fruitless things that won't even matter when you're better." "Hell, no! I need answers first." "Then it was nice knowing you," the doctor should say.

The Buddha is like the doctor in this simile. He provides the answer to the real problem. But we don't want to hear it. What's the problem? Suffering! Why do we suffer? Craving rooted in ignorance of how things really are. Is there a solution? Yes. What is it? The end of suffering (nirvana). How do we arrive at that direct realization? Broadly speaking, by the Ennobling Eightfold Path. "What's that?"

Now that's a good question. That question will lead us out of suffering. Then this whole thing will be like a dream (maya, an "illusion") when we awaken (bodhi), and the result will be blissful peace (nirvana). The Truth will set us free. So let's pursue the Truth and stop wasting time with questions like:

"What's the meaning of life? How did it all begin? Where did the ocean come from? Is the universe infinite or finite? What happens when we die? Will I be reborn? What was I in the past? What will I be in the future? Blah, blah, blah."

18-year-old girl fights cops (bodycam)

Let this be a lesson to all you kids. Mouth off to cops all you want. But don't. take. drugs. Because then you seem really stoopid. Drunk in public is bad but wasted on pharmaceutical pills, dirty heroin, or fentanyl-laced drugs is worse. The cops must love to choke people out and break their ribs from kicking them on the sides when the cameras are off. Here they are on their best behavior. And one gal is feeling dumb to see how dumb she looked on camera.

How can Wisdom Quarterly show BOOBS?!

Submitted by Jen Bradford (Dharma Buddhist Meditation), Ashley Wells (ed.), Wisdom Quarterly
OnlyClassics: sexy Sophia Loren caught staring at plain Jayne Mansfield (iconic US pinup)
Here, is that any better now? Wouldn't want to corrupt the viewers with circa 1957 US-smut.
.
Don't be nasty, be nice [like me]
I disagree with Mr. A (George Jackson). I don't mind [phalluses]. But shame on you for showing cleavage!! How dare you? I'm a single mother and [a mammal with ample boobs], and I don't want my son seeing things like that!! That's nasty!! We need to protect the childrens. I come to wisdomquarterly.com as a resource for peace, not nastiness and naughty pix of boobies bigger than mine!! I'm also a feminist and don't want nobody looking at me for objectificationment purposes. That's sick!! Can you imagine if my son could search the Web and find pix of breasts?! No thanks!! Take 'em down right now!! Show nuns doing good, not womens and how mean they are to women...
Renounce the world and stop fighting

LETTER TO THE EDITOR: response
Features Editor Ashley Wells and Wisdom Quarterly Private Donors and Editorial Board
Buddhist Goddess of Wisdom Prajna Paramita, Indonesia
Dear Anonymous: It's true. We should be ashamed. Shame will save the world. The Buddha advocated abashedness and moral dread (hiri-ottappa) as lynchpins keeping the world from spinning out of control. But is it right to feel shame and fear of the female body? As girls we are taught to be ashamed. As women we continue to shame each other and teach our sons to ashamed and shame.

Body image is a big subject for bullies. I hope you were not bullied or a bully. Our minds get colonized (with sexism, racism, and other -isms and become the very monsters that oppressed up). We need to decolonize our minds and hearts.

Penises are real, even if Mr. A will not face it as this truth manifests in Buddhist Bhutan and Thailand, and so are paginas. Let's continue to feel shame and oppression. The Vagina Museum of England be d*mned, as Mr. A suggests.

Sex positive, body positive, free love, these are foreign notions today. We aim to be different and innovative at Wisdom Quarterly: American Buddhist Journal. It's bound to raise some hackles, go against the grain, rub some readers the wrong way. Thank you for giving voice to their concerns as our daily numbers dwindle and spike, rise and fall.

The men at Wisdom Quarterly have much to answer for, submitting such stories. It's not appropriate reading for monastics, particularly celibate monks not yet attained to "right concentration" (samma samadhi, the joy of jhana and its supersensual pleasure or piti that makes the base village practice of sex so uninteresting), to say nothing of Buddhist nuns who must also struggle.

But this outlet is for American Buddhists, who are often jaded, postmodern, blase, and nearly nothing shocks us. From that point of view, we are presenting what is of interest to Americans interested in Buddhism.

We recommend Foundations of Buddhism: The Four Noble Truths by the Buddhist Publication Society. It's amazing what that small book was willing to tackle and discuss when there's so much "spirituality" we could be drowning in. We choose not to drown.

We are interested in tackling and giving our take on modern topics like sex, drugs, and rock 'n roll, not to advocate them but to deal with them maturely.

This is no longer the Sixties. It's a corrupted time, a Kali Yuga waiting for a Golden Age. It's a little recognized fact that with every additional million readers on our tally, boobs are featured on the post the day of that attainment. Boobs are very boring, yet they're so alluring that they are an industry unto themselves. They are used to sell everything, including spirituality (that transcends the sensual). We are not hedonists, atheists, agnostics, or moralists -- well, we're kind of moralists, but only lightly so.

We are not here to shame. We will be shamed, if need be. The world with its cultural norms, religious and pious superiority, beliefs, superstitions, and fears will come around one day. Until then, please take our offering more lightly. There's plenty of Dharma discussed. The rest is just this American life.

Please feel free to submit a story idea to Ms. Jen Bradford. [Anyone is invited to by using the Comments Section below.] Thank you for the suggestion we show nuns doing good things. I have forwarded two story ideas to our Dharma editors to talk more about the Buddha's sister and brother as found in Buddhist sutras. Metta to you.
