Kung Fu (The CW) trailer
(TV Promos) Watch the premier tonight (April 7, 2021, 8:00 pm Hollywood time) as The CW launches a new TV series based at least in part on the classic Kung Fu.

Now Kung Fu is a kickarse gal in the New West
A quarter-life crisis causes a young Chinese-American woman, Nicky Shen (played by Olivia Liang), to drop out of college and go on a life-changing journey to an isolated Shaolin Chan ("Zen") Buddhist monastery in China.

But when she returns to San Francisco, she finds her hometown is overrun with crime and corruption and her own parents (Tzi Ma and Kheng Hua Tan) are at the mercy of a powerful Triad.

Olivia Liang stars in Kung Fu 2021.
Nicky will rely on her tech-savvy sister (Shannon Dang), pre-med brother (Jon Prasida), assistant district attorney and ex-boyfriend (Gavin Stenhouse), and new love interest (Eddie Liu), as well as her martial arts skills and Shaolin values to protect her community and bring criminals to justice.

She'll do all this while searching for the ruthless assassin (Gwendoline Yeo) who killed her Shaolin mentor and is now targeting her.

The Classic Kung Fu

David Carradine in Kung Fu (1972)
Kung Fu is an American action-adventure martial arts Western drama TV series starring David Carradine as "Kwai Chang Caine," a Shaolin Buddhist monk.

He travels through the American Old Wild West, armed only with his spiritual training and his skills in martial arts. The series follows his adventures as he seeks "Danny Caine," his half-brother.

Don't cross me. I have Shaolin Buddhist skills.
Many of the aphorisms used in the series are adapted from or derived directly from the Tao Te Ching, a book of ancient Taoist philosophy (which along with Confucianism melded with Buddhism in China) attributed to the sage Lao-tzu. More
