In photographs: Hiroshima and Nagasaki after nuclear attacks
(Euronews) It was 76 years ago today that the US military thought it was a good idea to ruin the world by imagining and carrying out a crime against humanity. Today marks 76 years since the US devastated Hiroshima and Nagasaki with nuclear weapons. The US dropped atomic bombs on people in these cities on August 6 and 9, 1945, almost completely destroying them. Between 130,000 and 226,000 people — nearly all noncombatant civilians — had their lives taken from them. These archive photographs show the scale of the devastation the nuclear weapons caused. Use the slider tool below to compare the photographs of Hiroshima before and after the atomic bomb was dropped by the US Air Force. More
