Los Angeles Protests U.S. War in Iraq

LA Daily News Staff photographer John McCoy (Hollywood, CA 3/21/09)
Peace activists stage "die in" by lying down in the middle of Hollywood Blvd. The sounds of bombs were amplified through a sound system. Citizens, students, veterans, activists, and union members joined together to promote peace in the White House and Iraq. They seek an end to military force by the U.S. around the world on the sixth anniversary of the U.S. war (John McCoy).
Ron Kovic is a Vietnam veteran and author of the book Born on the Fourth of July. Along with citizens, students, veterans, activists, and union members, he gathered to protest the U.S. war in Iraq. They were there to protest other military actions the U.S. is involved in around the world as well.

Crowds gathered at the intersection of Hollywood Blvd. and Vine. After some speeches, people proceeded to march to the intersection of Hollywood and Highland to stage an elaborate demonstration in front of the Kodak Theater.

Mock coffins draped with Iraqi, Afghani, Palestinian, and U.S. flags represented the casualties of war. March 21 is the sixth anniversary of the U.S. war in Iraq.

"Peace is Patriotic" -- pass it on.
