Imagine a Bodhisattva vow taken by most of the members of one of the three great world religions (Mahayana Buddhism), which has about a billion uncounted members in officially communist China. The three world religions are Catholicism (Christianity), Islam (Shia and Sunni but not so much Sufi), and Buddhism (Theravada, Mahayana, and Vajrayana), the oldest being Buddhism, which began as a missionary religion in proto-India before there was a "Hinduism" at the time of Brahmins and their Vedas (ancient "Knowledge Books"). Buddhism spread from the historical founder, Siddhartha Gautama the supremely "Awakened One," north to Tibet (Vajrayana) and China (Mahayana) then to all of Asia and most of the world. The Dalai Lama-loving Beastie Boys (New York Jewish-Buddhist hip hop rappers) give the vow a new spin from their classic album, Ill Communication.

Famous JuBu and dedicated supporter of Tibet and the Dalai Lama Adam "MCA" Yauch, 47, died today.

(CNN) He was a founding member of the pioneering rap band Beastie Boys. He died Friday after a nearly three-year "battle" with cancer, the band's publicist said. 

• Of course, nearly no one dies of cancer nowadays; they die of violent allopathic cancer treatment -- chemo, pharmaceuticals, surgery, and radiation. Even framing the effort to heal as a "war" on cancer, a "battle," a "fight" is utter foolishness. Love the body. Cancer is there for a reason. It is no mistake. Remove the reason, remove the cancer. There are many cures, many ways of reversing the condition, many ways to put it into remission.

• Did the Beastie Boy resort to alternatives that have been scientifically shown to reverse cancer? No, he underwent surgery. 

Yauch converted to Buddhism in the 1990s after visiting Nepal and hearing the Dalai Lama speak in Arizona, he told the Buddhist magazine Shambhala Sun in 1995. "It just seemed like Buddhism, especially Tibetan Buddhism -- because that's mainly what I've been exposed to -- was a real solid organization of teachings to point someone in the right direction," the magazine quoted him as saying. "Some real well thought out stuff. But I don't know, like, every last detail about Buddhism." The conversion led him to have second thoughts about the bawdy party-boy image the band portrayed in the 1980s, he told the Boston Globe in 1998. "I didn't realize how much harm I was doing back then and I think a lot of rap artists probably don't realize it now," the newspaper quoted him as saying. "I said a lot of stuff fooling around back then, and I saw it do a lot of harm. I had kids coming up to me and saying, 'Yo, I listen to your records while I'm smoking dust, man.' And I'd say, 'Hey, man, we're just kidding. I don't smoke dust.' People need to be more aware of how they're affecting people." As a Buddhist, Yauch became an advocate for Tibetan freedom. He founded the Milarepa Fund, which helped raise money for the effort, and organized charity concerts involving the Beastie Boys and other acts, including the first Tibetan Freedom Concert in 1996.

DHARAMSALA, India – A longtime supporter of Tibet and member of the Beastie Boys, Adam Yauch, has won his 18 month long battle against cancer.

The singer, also known as MCA, was diagnosed with cancer in July 2009 after which the band’s album "Hot Sauce Committee, Part 1" was delayed indefinitely. Yauch underwent a surgery in July 2009 to remove a cancerous tumor from his left parotid gland.

In September 2009, he visited Dharamsala, the headquarters of the exile Tibetan government and the home of the Dalai Lama. During his visit, Yauch consulted Tibetan doctors of traditional Tibetan medicine.

In an email update to the Beastie Boys' official fan list in 2009, Yauch said, "I'm taking Tibetan medicine and at the recommendation of the Tibetan doctors I've been eating a vegan/organic diet."

He was spotted at a teaching of the Dalai Lama during the same trip. A Buddhist and supporter of Tibetan causes, Yauch has lent his popularity to raise awareness about the Tibet issue. More>>

(AFP) Buddhist hip-hop outfit the Beastie Boys have delayed their upcoming tour and album release after founding-member Adam Yauch was diagnosed with cancer, the band said today.

What causes cancer? Chemicals such as pharmaceuticals (allopathic medicines), toxins in the diet and poor digestion, recreational elements, and fear, worry, anger (aka, unchecked dosa).

Are there cures for cancer? Yes, many, but you won't hear about them. Doctors in the AMA are only permitted to promote invasive surgery and controlled-poisoning ("chemotherapy"). One must search for a cure (see earlier postings), which is simply too much trouble in our "Give me convenience or give me death" culture.
