The Dali Parton: Dolly Bodhisattva?

.
The Backwoods Barbie Doll Dolly
At dollypartonsamerica.com, thanks to Jad Abumrad of Radio Lab, there is a 9-part series of interviews on America's favorite bra owner, The Dali Parton, Goddess of Kindness, a kind of cultural icon and bodhisattva (a "being destined for enlightenment/awakening" by the marriage of compassion and wisdom) for the benefit of us all. Feminist, activist, Buddhist Rebecca Solnit says it quite well:
Who cares about this American singer? She's just a singer! Or was she much more? (FB)
In praise of Dolly Parton, 1946-2026, our Goddess of Kindness (Rebecca Solnit)

This is the only chance to experience it in SoCal until next year. And who knows if there'll be a next year, what with all those meteors, UFOs, Israeli nukes, Iranian retaliations, and Trump implosions coming. So join RenFaire for one last Huzzah!

Tickets at renfair.com/socal/tickets. BUY TICKETS NOW. IF ALREADY PURCHASED, USE THEM OR LOSE THEM! If there are still tickets for this season in pocket or purse, please plan to join in for some fun before the final day of this season. Tickets are non-refundable. Please click here to learn how to exchange them for any remaining 2026 Faire day.

NOTE: If a date is sold out, no one will be able to exchange tickets to that date. Make exchanges ASAP! As the Faire heads into its final weekend, a quick reminder to help keep things running smoothly for all: Tailgating, outside alcohol, and cannabis/marijuana are not permitted on the Faire grounds, inside the Faire, or in the parking lots of the Santa Fe Dam Recreation Area. The Faire appreciates everyone's cooperation in creating a safe, welcoming experience for every guest. It can’t wait to celebrate one last magical season with all! For safety, everyone is encouraged to drive into the Santa Fe Dam. Climbing over the rock wall is not advised, as there is an increased number of biting rattlesnakes on the rock wall. Pedestrian traffic in the roadways impedes vehicle traffic, so please stay on sidewalks if walking the 1.5 miles into the Dam.

Pro Tips to Enter and Exit the Santa Fe Dam: Follow the directions of the traffic team, and please be patient. Bring $15 cash in exact change for the park entrance fee. Watch for bicyclists and please yield! When leaving, take the asphalt road to Peckham Gate, or take the dirt road closest to the dam wall. That road leads to Arrow Highway. Exit right to get to the 605 and 210 Freeways. Find all directions and parking tips here.

The science of breast size (Mythbusters)

They've done nothing for me. I mean, not that I know of.
I'm not going to buy more fruit just because she's pretty and in a skimpy top though, you know, I may make conversation and, come to think of it, I do need more oranges.

Reverse true for males: flatter=better?
Let's get one thing straight. Breast size doesn't matter at all, not a bit. They affect nothing, certainly not attention, stares, tips, comments, date requests, marriage proposals, catcalls, jeers, backaches, or popularity. There is no Boobie Industrial Complex (fashions, bikinis, braziers, stuffing, silicone cups, tape, wires, pulleys, wonder pills, creams, exercises, surgical augmentations, lingerie sales, saline implants, Erin Brockovich rentals...) supporting them. It's only a myth! Discovery's Mythbusters conducted a scientific test.

Bigger tips breasts equal bigger tips?
Yet again, science confirms that life imitates art just as consumers imitate mainstream media.
I'm not jealous or envious. I'm just curious. How can she stand being such an attention whooer?
.
SCIENCE: busting the myth of bust size

(MythBustersDiscovery) Kari Byron and crew put the "bigger boobs better tips" hypothesis through a rigorous scientific social science experimentation with silicone mammalian augmentations that will ascertain the consumer capitalist engagement of a subset of the population of restaurant diners where tipping is obligatory. The conclusion has a twist that may come as a surprise to viewers. Who's actually doing the covert leering and paying for the privilege?

This anecdotal test attempts to see how long viewers will watch without understanding a word of what's going on simply because the fruit-buying influencer hired a bouncy sidekick to play along.

Apple iPhones are spying on bras and breasts!

Kelly Ani, Ashley Wells, Seth Auberon (eds.), Wisdom Quarterly; diyphotography.net
I knew that piece of s**t iPhone was spying on me! Damn Apple Inc. and US spying agencies!

I don't like this, don't like it at all!
Apple’s Photos [spying] app is capable of detecting almost 4,500 different scenes and objects [like breasts and nude photos] using image-recognition technology.

But recently, a user discovered that the app also knows what a bra looks like.

So it recognizes and tags all your photos in a bra, making them all viewable in one place. Since no AI is perfect, this one isn’t either.

Some users have reported that the app also placed their nude or sexual photos in the “bra” category.

The Twitter user @ellieeewbu discovered this on her iPhone and posted about it, which resulted in almost 15,000 retweets, nearly 29,000 likes, and over a thousand replies:

As you can see, the trick is to type in “brassiere,” and you’ll get to see all the photos in a bra. In the replies, you can see some users sharing their results, and it seems the image recognition tech is generally quite accurate. [It knows what a t*t is.] However, a few girls reported that the tag was also applied to their nude photos and photos of them having sex. It turns out this category has existed for over a year now. More.

Stealing breast pics from the cloud, iPads...

Lana Del Rey bra, no iPhone
Apple isn't saving bra photos for itself -- but your iPhone is looking at your boobs (thenextweb.com, Oct. 31, 2017 ...The world discovered yesterday that the iPhone, which sorts pictures to categories all by itself without being asked, has a folder specifically for brassiere pictures. It should say breasts because there are bikini shots, heavy cleavage, even nudes of YOU in it.

Why Apple automatically catalogues the bra photos on your iPhone (telegraph.co.uk) Apple's iOS Photos app automatically catalogues photos of bras and... Check with the photo album search bar and see what photos of you Apple has saved...

OMG, they'll say I'm a w...
Apple has been categorizing all your "brassiere" photos for over a... (theverge.com) in the Photos app on iPhones categorizes photos featuring bras... Anyone can see them and your breasts because your photos are stored on the cloud, [which is easier to hack than your borrowed or stolen phone].

Apple catalogs bra photos on iOS 10 (dailycaller.com) Several iPhone owners are starting to notice that Apple has been spotting, segregating, and storing YOUR bra-related photos... guys wtf this is so scary[!]

I spy with my iPhone. So do you.
iPhone does NOT have a secret folder of your sexy selfies [oh, wait, yes it does, sort of] (express.co.uk) Some iPhone, iPad, and iOS users were left fearing there's a folder of all the pictures they've taken in their bra and lingerie [and sexting, and nudes, and Apple knows what else] stored on the cloud or their phone...

From burning bras to hot... (Int'l Women's Day)

From Burning Bras to Hot Debate: Is feminism doing right by women today?
Women Under [Early] Buddhism (GR)
(KPCC) Who qualifies as "feminist" nowadays? The days of bra burning may be gone, but there’s still plenty of fire around feminism now.

Take the unretouched Lena Dunham and body-less Mindy Kaling fashion mag covers: Were they beautiful or boo-worthy? Or Beyoncé, a pop star so beloved by men and women alike that she's called "Queen Be": Is she all about Woman Power or just a powerful brand?

Even First Ladies can’t escape the heat, applied equally to matters grand and, very often, small: Are Michelle Obama’s arms and Hillary Clinton’s sags and Twitter tag praiseworthy, problematic, or something else altogether?

Not in my police state you don't, missy!
Heated debate over these questions plays out all over media. This isn't necessarily bad if it's leading to more conversations and awareness. But the flip side is that too many different voices make solidarity impossible and could hurt (or even doom) “the movement.”  In 2014, is there even a movement anymore?

If yes, what is it now? If there’s no single, unified feminism, should there be one? Who qualifies to be feminist at all?

Do we take feminism for granted?
On Thursday, March 27, 2014, join Wisdom Quarterly at KPCC’s Crawford Family Forum for some lively talk about pop culture, politics, and doing/being women “right.” There will be an audio-visual show of items with the most recent media buzz. Panelists will give their insights, and audience Q&A is invited to dive into what’s going on with American feminism today. Moreover, how is it likely to play out in the future?

Men are a vital part
You're invited, Peter. Put away the toy.
Male allies, non-sexist men, enlightened guys, and precious children with a chance of being raised beyond patriarchy are vital to the world movement for gender equality. If women hate men, stay home; it only harms the cause. We are ALL upset with patriarchs, sexists, rapists, and brutes. Nowadays, most males can at least behave in a fair way. Let's make it the norm, the natural way of thinking, of feeling, of working together as one humanity. Come stand up for freedom, for sexual equality, and for fairness.

Beckhams turn to Buddhism

Beckhams turn to Buddhism
NEW DELHI, India - Football ace David Beckham and his wife Victoria (aka Posh Spice) have reportedly embraced Buddhism. Sources have revealed that the couple, who live in Los Angeles with their three sons, can be seen chanting every morning to help themselves deal with their hectic lifestyles, reports chinaview.cn.
Women's Proper Bra Sizing
The mysterious determination of the proper bra size has been a matter of confusion for ages. In fact, a study estimates that 80% of women are wearing a bra of the wrong size and type, resulting in style disasters, discomfort, or worse (breast cancer). Whether you want an extra boost in the bust, or want to get rid of those pesky bulges in your back, or just want more support, here are some tips to find the right bra size. More>>
