Pagan origins of Adam and Eve story

Adam and Eve as kundalini energy (Artofit)
Is there a Buddhist parallel to this popular Western story of a Garden, a first human couple, a Wisdom Tree, and a tricky shapeshifting Serpent? There is. One need only look at the Agganna Sutta, "A Buddhist Genesis," a discourse given by the Buddha "On Beginnings."

But first it may be better to question the Sumerian, Jewish, Christian version -- made silly by its oversimplification over the millennia. The Christian version makes next to no sense, the Jewish interpretations a little more sense, and the much older Sumerian roots from texts like the Epic of Gilgamesh the Enūma Eliš. All of these are creation myths rooted in some kind of history.

Sadly, many readers misunderstand the Buddhist version of "Genesis." The Buddha is in no way explaining how life began. It is preexisting. He is merely explaining how it came to Earth and how karma (deeds) impacts the environment. As people become so, too, the world declines. We are not evolving so much as devolving from a Golden Age (Satya Yuga), and it is all cyclical. It happens again and again.

This is an echo of the older Vedic (Hindu) and Shramanic (Jain) versions, and that is because "Buddhism" does not begin with the historical Buddha. He is constantly referring back to previous buddhas (Great Heroes or Ford-makers as Jainism calls them, avatars and sages in the Old Vedic Religion that became Brahmanism and much later Hinduism).

But here's some insight in these themes from Urgyen Jigme (Mel Pine) in Melting Pot Dharma inspired by Amie Zor in Adam & Eve (& the Self):

Adam, Eve, and Mara (Buddhist story)

Don't touch that fruit! - But I need wisdom!!
At their pure inner core, all beings know that they are not separate from one another. In that state of mind, it is as if they live in a Garden of Eden, where they have no need for shame, no need to differentiate friend from foe, good from evil, and no need to imagine a creator god to oversee their behavior.

They have no expectations that their lives should be other than they are.

It's all me. I created everything. - Even us?
But something in our nature likes to delude us into forgetting this oneness [or unity] of all things and into believing that life should be fairer than it is.

We give that demon a name, Mara [Death, the Obstacle to Enlightenment], to help us identify it.

Suppose that, a very long time ago, the first two human beings evolved from earlier beings. We’ll call them Adam and Eve. Their inner core, or Buddha-nature [or natural state of only dreaming and soon to awake], was pure, and they had no fear of other beings, no sense of good and evil, no self that was separate from other beings and from whatever force brought them into being.

Adam and Eve did have a sense, though, that one of the trees in their garden bore intoxicating [entheogenic] fruit that they should stay away from.

That was the Tree of Duality. Looking for an opportunity to trick Adam and Eve into believing they were distinct separate beings, Mara [the Deceiver] took the form of a snake to talk with them.

No beings had ever lied to Adam and Eve, and they had no way of knowing that the snake was not really a being, so they listened as the demon Mara told them how much fun it would be to become intoxicated on the fruit of the Tree of Duality.

Zarathustra, Iran (Persia)
So Adam and Eve ate the fruit and became drunk with duality. They began to see the world as a conflict between good and evil [as taught in the novel Near East religion of Zarathustra called Zoroastrianism].

They decided that only a cruel god would create such an unfriendly place, so they invented the god of the Old Testament and then hid from him.

Because Mara had taken the form of a snake, they feared and despised all snakes. They made distinctions everywhere: friend and foe, human and animal, smart and dumb, handsome and ugly, strong and weak, rich and poor. They began to see old age, sickness, and death as unfair, as burdens, as suffering.

Four prophets: Mani, Zoraster, Buddha, Jesus
They thought child-bearing was punishment. So that was how Mara, for thousands of years to come, deluded human beings into forgetting that they could return to the Garden of Eden.

Every parable is supposed to have a moral. I’d say the moral is: Some believe in an original sin that requires salvation. Other believe in a delusion that requires awakening. — Mel Pine (Urgyen Jigme)

Idiocracy: Wisdom is Disappearing

Dr. Robert Lustig figured this out and wrote a book about it (The Hacking of the American Mind: The Science Behind the Corporate Takeover of Our Bodies and Brains), comparing dopamine to serotonin, quick payoff to the slow burn.

"Explores how industry has manipulated our most deep-seated survival instincts."
—David Perlmutter, MD, author, #1 New York Times bestseller, Grain Brain and Brain Maker

The New York Times–bestselling author of Fat Chance reveals the corporate scheme to sell pleasure, driving the international epidemic of addiction, depression, and chronic disease.

The Hacking of the American Mind
While researching the toxic and addictive properties of sugar for his New York Times bestseller Fat Chance, Dr. Robert Lustig made an alarming discovery—our pursuit of happiness is being subverted by a culture of addiction and depression from which we may never recover.

Dopamine is the “reward” neurotransmitter that tells our brains we want more; yet every substance or behavior that releases dopamine in the extreme leads to addiction.

Serotonin is the “contentment” neurotransmitter that tells our brains we don’t need any more; yet its deficiency leads to depression.

Ideally, both are in optimal supply. But dopamine evolved to overwhelm serotonin—because our ancestors were more likely to survive if they were constantly motivated—with the result that constant desire can chemically destroy our ability to feel happiness, while sending us down the slippery slope to addiction.

Extraterrestrial mystery above Cusco found? - What are these ancient handbags?

In the last 40 years, government legislation and subsidies have promoted ever-available temptation (sugar, drugs, social media, porn) combined with constant stress (work, home, money, Internet), with the end result of an unprecedented epidemic of addiction, anxiety, depression, and chronic disease.

And with the advent of neuromarketing, corporate America has successfully imprisoned us in an endless loop of desire and consumption from which there is no obvious escape. More

Nvidia loses $589 billion in a day

Predicting the market's hard, beating it impossible

The Number One business in America used to be Apple Corporation, the iPhone, iPad, iTamp slave factory owner, but it was shoved out of the way by the computer chip company Nvidia. That is until yesterday, when China released DeepSeek, a very cheap A.I. search function. That release by the CCP crashed Nvidia, taking it down the farthest a company has ever fallen financially since the last time Nvidia fell (about $250 billion that time). That's what Wall Street calls volatility. To invest or not invest? Hotshots have the most exposure to upswing, but the down draft burns them up when they crash. At least Apple is stable, however irresponsible or amoral the corporation may be. What's GM up to? What about other war stocks? Big Pharma? There's another "flu" on the horizon, and if we call it a "Covid," that means big money for companies already making big money on new allopathic drugs like esketamine ("Spravato"). Caveat emptor.

Google, Facebook spying on citizens

Welcome to the Surveillance State, Winston. - I didn't sign up for this, Big Brother! - Don't you remember clicking on the consent form? - That gobbledygook of Legalese? - It's legally binding. We sell your data to government agencies, so they protect us.
.
Big Brother (MZ) is always watching.
Want to freak out? Let’s look at just how much of our information evil corporations like Mark Zuckerberg's Facebook and a corporation's Google scan and store about us without us even realizing it.

Google knows where we’ve been. Google stores our location (if we have location tracking turned on for convenience and functionality) every time we turn on your phone (even though it listens and can hear perfectly well when "off").

We can see a timeline of where we’ve been from the very first day we started using Google on our phone, which does not come as a choice on Android. [Tracking by Apple, Inc. is done with Safari and other programs.]

Google spying: tracking me throughout Ireland
Anyone can click on this link to see his or her own data: google.com/maps/timeline? Here is every place I have been in the last 12 months in Ireland. Spies can see the time of day that I was at each location and how long it took me to get to that location from my previous one. More: organicallyhuman.com

Apple Corporation's Steve Jobs, sociopath

The Infographics Show, 11/30/23; Seth Auberon, CC Liu (eds.), Wisdom Quarterly

The Ugly Truth About Steve Jobs
Revenge of the Nerds: Bill Gates and Steve Jobs
(The Infographics Show) The founder of Apple Inc. may have revolutionized the way people communicate and connect with their screens, "smart" phones, laptops, and music devices, but Steve Jobs is not the hero [most people foolishly seemed to believe he was when he died and they were singing his praises, imagining he was entering some Buddhist heaven for all his good deeds on earth when it was obvious he was in cahoots with American intelligence agencies like the FBI, CIA, and NSA to sell users out and destroy the outdated concept of "privacy" for a new generation and incorporating a strategy of "planned obsolescence" into his sturdy devices that would physically outlast their functionality to make Apple a trillion dollar company] might think he is. Check out this epic video to learn the dark truth about Steve Jobs.
[And imagine a future where the same video is made about Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak, Google/Meta menace Mark Zuckerberg, Elon Musk, and child molesting Epstein Island fan Bill Gates, and other tech billionaires who sold us all out and their souls for riches and influence.]

Apple iPhone: 16 years of spying, radiation

Amnesty.org; Ashley Wells, Seth Auberon (eds.), Wisdom Quarterly

Here, it's for you. - Who would be calling me?
India: Damning new forensic investigation reveals repeated use of Pegasus spyware to target high-profile journalists.

Amnesty International, in partnership with The Washington Post, has unearthed shocking new details about the continued use of NSO Group’s highly invasive spyware Pegasus to target prominent journalists in India, including one who had previously been a victim of an attack using the same spyware.

Our latest findings show that increasingly, journalists in India face the threat of unlawful surveillance simply for doing their jobs, alongside other tools of repression including imprisonment under draconian laws, smear campaigns, harassment, and intimidation Head of Amnesty International’s Security Lab Donncha Ó Cearbhaill.

Forensic investigations by Amnesty International’s Security Lab confirmed that Founding Editor of The Wire Siddharth Varadarajan and the South Asia Editor at The Organised Crime and Corruption Report Project (OCCRP) Anand Mangnale were among the journalists recently targeted with Pegasus spyware on their iPhones, with the latest identified case occurring in October 2023.

It's Israel versus the world.
The use of Pegasus, a type of highly invasive spyware, developed by Israeli surveillance firm NSO Group, comes amid an unprecedented crackdown by the Indian authorities on freedom of peaceful expression and assembly, which has had a chilling impact on civil society organizations, journalists, and activists.

“Our latest findings show that increasingly, journalists in India face the threat of unlawful surveillance simply for doing their jobs, alongside other tools of repression including imprisonment under draconian laws, smear campaigns, harassment, and intimidation,” said Head of Amnesty International’s Security Lab Donncha Ó Cearbhaill.

“Despite repeated revelations, there has been a shameful lack of accountability about the use of Pegasus spyware in India which only intensifies the sense of impunity over these human rights violations.”

Forensic evidence reveals Pegasus activity Amnesty International’s Security Lab first observed indications of renewed Pegasus spyware threats towards individuals in India during a regular technical monitoring exercise in June 2023, a number of months after media reported that the Indian government was seeking to procure a new commercial spyware system.

In October 2023, Apple issued a new round of threat notifications globally to iPhone users who may have been targeted by “state-sponsored attackers.”

More than 20 journalists and opposition politicians in India were reported to have received the notifications.

As a result, Amnesty International’s Security Lab undertook a forensic analysis on the phones of individuals around the world who received these notifications, including Siddharth Varadarajan and Anand Mangnale.

It found traces of Pegasus spyware activity on devices owned by both Indian journalists. The Security Lab recovered evidence from Anand Mangnale’s device of a zero-click exploit which was sent to his phone over iMessage on 23 August 2023 and designed to covertly install the Pegasus spyware.

The phone was running iOS 16.6, the latest version available at the time. A zero-click exploit refers to malicious software that enables spyware to be installed on a device without requiring any user action from the target, such as clicking on a link. More

Are we DREAMING right now? Yes. (audio)

Cheryll Jones (Coast to Coast, 9/29/22); Pfc. Sandoval, Ashley Wells (eds.), Wisdom Quarterly

Investigative reporter Cheryll Jones
Investigative reporter Cheryll Jones interviewed doctoral researcher Karen Konkoly on new scientific studies that open the doorway to two-way communication between lucid dreamers (people who realize they're in a dream) and a waking person.

Sleep researchers at Paller Lab at Northwestern University watch brain signals of sleeping participants in the lab in hopes of refining communications so that complex conversations may one day be possible.

I know I'm dreaming, and life is dreaming.
Recent experiments were conducted with subjects in REM sleep, who were asked simple questions. In successful cases, subjects moved their eyes in a certain direction for the number of times that corresponded to the answer they wished to give. During the REM state, all but the eye and a few facial muscles are paralyzed.

Konkoly tells the reporter that their experiments corresponded with work being done at several other labs around the world. Paller Lab incorporates a "target memory activation" technique to induce lucid dreaming. Subjects listen to a 20-minute recording in which a specific sound becomes associated with the idea of becoming lucid. The sound is then played while subjects are asleep.

The researchers have been able to induce lucidity. This technology is available as an Android app used in combination with a Fitbit device. (An iPhone version will be released later). AUDIO
