Dark secret behind 'Black Irish' DNA
![]() |
| Perhaps Hollywood's most famous Black Irish lass. |
![]() |
| Everyone knows we're born of Tuatha Dé Danann |
(Stone and Bone) Who are the black-haired "Black Irish"? What was the Bell Beaker culture that came to the islands and left an imprint?
In the United States, the term "Black Irish" was initially used in the 19th century to derogatorily describe Irish refugees of the Great Famine [1] [a manmade event the British wrought on their hated neighbors].
It later shifted into a term used to describe people of Irish descent who have black or dark-colored hair, pale skin, dark or light eyes, or any other dark feature or coloration. This meaning is not commonly used in Ireland [1], where "Black Irish" more refers to Irish people of actual African descent [4].
The most common use of the term "Black Irish" is tied to the myth that they were descended from Spanish sailors shipwrecked during the Spanish Armada of 1588 [5][6][7][8][9][10] that came to attack England. However, no anthropological, historical, or genetic research supports this story.
Some theorists assert that the term was adopted in some cases by Irish Americans who wanted to conceal interracial unions with African Americans, paralleling the phrase "Black Dutch" which was also used in the United States to hide racial identity. More

Elon Musk to FIGHT Mark Zuckerberg (video)

| Dear Diary, I will kick the living h*ll out of that li'l punk *ss b*tch anytime anywhere... |
![]() |
| Who you call a "b*tch"? |
Twitter's Elon Musk (Tesla, PayPal, SpaceX) and Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg (Meta) have agreed to FIGHT in a cage match, after Musk jokingly suggested the bout in response to efforts by Meta to launch a Twitter competitor.
“I’m sure Earth can’t wait to be exclusively under Zuck’s thumb,” Musk tweeted on Wednesday in response to a post about Meta’s rumored Threads app.
The app, previously known inside Instagram as Project 92 and Barcelona, has been pitched to celebrities and influencers as a “stable place to build and grow” their audiences.

“At least it will be ‘sane,’” Musk added. “Was worried there for a moment.”
When a follower warned that the Twitter boss should watch his words around Zuckerberg, Musk responded: “I’m up for a cage match if he is lol.”
What could have been one of many half-thought-out tweets dashed off by Musk -- whose itchy posting finger has already brought him a libel suit from a British diver he labelled a “pedo[phile]” and an SEC demand for a lawyer to vet his missives after he falsely claimed to have “funding secured” to take Tesla private -- became rather more significant when Zuckerberg responded.
In a post on his verified Instagram account, Meta Chief Executive Officer Zuck shared a screenshot of Musk’s challenge with the caption: “Send Me Location.”
The danger for Musk is that Zuckerberg is, apparently, quite good at fighting. [He's been practicing to impress his Asian gal-pal, Priscilla, and/or to overcome his worldwide reputation as a wuss and dweeb.]
Both men seem to have limitless reserves of energy [and money], but where Musk applies that to running five separate companies at the same time, Zuckerberg prefers to get really, really serious about hobbies.
In the past he has spent periods learning Mandarin (Chinese), touring America (in what was widely seen as a dry run for an abortive presidential campaign), and only eating meat he killed with a bow and arrow [like Republican rocker Ted Nugent].
Recently, though, his hobby has been Brazilian jiu-jitsu (BJJ), and when he made his competitive debut last month, he won two out of three bouts.

One wrinkle is the combatants’ sizes. At an estimated 1.87 meters (6ft 1in) and about 85kg (13stone 5lb), Musk is several weight classes above Zuckerberg, who measures a mere 1.71 meters (5ft 7ins) and less than 70kg (11stone).
All else being equal, that would put Musk at an advantage, even after taking account of the 12-year age gap between the two.
![]() |
| Musk is MUCH bigger [3==D~] than Zuck. |
“I have this great move that I call ‘The Walrus,’ where I just lie on top of my opponent & do nothing,” he tweeted.
The ultimate question for the fight, if it does occur, is whether Musk takes it seriously or treats the whole thing as a joke.

"Pale Ink": Ancient China explored America
Henriette Mertz, Pale Ink (1972), Gavin Menzies (amazon.com); Christopher Nyerges (School of Self Reliance); Xochitl, Dhr. Seven, Pat Macpherson (eds.), Wisdom Quarterly
Reader book reviews
(Review: 5.0 out of 5 stars)
Jill Mattson (December 9, 2012) I'm still reading but am enjoying the thought-provoking information in the book. Why, when the information in this book has been available for years, is this information generally hidden away?
Lim Swee Hiong (March 10, 2014) This book met my critical needs of information about early Chinese travelers to America in ancient written records. Expecting more studies.
John Brookshire (May 8, 2015) Great. A must read if interested in history.
Shari L. Swedlund (January 23, 2013) Oh my! This book is long and really a great challenge. Makes me re-look at what I thought thanks again.
Diana D. Greer (October 24, 2007) Very interesting. Since I live and travel in the Western U.S., I find this book very interesting. I think it goes hand-in-hand with 1421: The Year China Discovered America by Gavin Menzies. It's time for historians to open their minds more to explorers other than those coming from western Europe. 1421: The Year China Discovered America
Gavin Menzies (amazon.com)
On March 8, 1421 the largest fleet the world had ever seen set sail from China to "proceed all the way to the ends of the earth to collect tribute from the barbarians beyond the seas."
When the fleet returned home in October 1423, the Chinese emperor had fallen, leaving China in political and economic chaos.
The great ships were left to rot at their moorings, and the records of their journeys were destroyed.
Lost in the long, self-imposed Chinese isolation that followed was the knowledge that Chinese ships had reached America 70 years before Columbus and had circumnavigated the globe a century before Magellan.
And they [and Buddhism] colonized America before the Europeans [and Christianity], transplanting the principal economic crops that have since fed and clothed the world. More

850 pale, underground creatures discovered
850 mostly blind, pale creatures discovered underground
LiveScience.com

Down under in Australia, down underground that is, scientists have found 850 previously unknown species living in subterranean water, caves, and micro-caverns. These insects, crustaceans, spiders, and worms are likely only about one-fifth of the number of undiscovered species the researchers think exist underground amid the harsh conditions of the Australian outback. Two species of blind fish and two of blind eels were also uncovered.

Two species of blind fish and two of blind eels were also uncovered. "What we've found is that you don't have to go searching in the depths of the ocean to discover new species of invertebrate animals — you just have to look in your own backyard," said researcher Andy Austin, an evolutionary biologist at the University of Adelaide in Australia. [Scientists say only a fraction of the species of plants and animals on the planet have been discovered.]
Only half of the species discovered have so far been named, the scientists announced today. Generically, the animals found in underground water are known as "stygofauna" and those from caves and micro-caverns are known as "troglofauna." More>>
