"The Revolution [May] Not Be Televised" (film)

The Revolution Will Not Be Televised is a remarkable documentary about the 2002 coup attempt which briefly deposed Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez. How was it filmed?

A television crew from Ireland's national broadcaster RTÉ happened to be recording a documentary about Pres. Chávez during the events of April 11, 2002. Shifting focus, they followed the extraordinary events as they unfolded.

During their filming the crew recorded images of the coup attempt that contradict explanations given by the opposition to Chavez's pro-people reform: a private mainstream media, the US State Department, and former White House Press Secretary Ari Fleischer. The documentary shows that the coup was the result of a conspiracy between various old guard and anti-Chávez factions within Venezuela and the United States.
