Check multiple maps. India's big yet shown small.
"India Syndrome" is a psychosis that’s said to affect Westerners seeking some sort of spiritual enlightenment in India. It is identified as the cause for a suicide and disappearance of two Westerners called to India and ultimately led astray there.

Enlightenment Trap (Carney)
Here are some scary stories to make you rethink a trip. Sure these stories ignore the millions of Americans and Europeans who have traveled to India on a spiritual quest and loved it.

Then there was our friend Vanessa W. from Noah Levine's Against the Stream, Los Angeles, who went bonkers near Dharamshala in the Himalayas because of the spirit of the Mountain, as she described it, and the full Moon (Luna).

Gaffer Vanessa went Hollywood (Amazon).
She had been involved with Robert Thurman's Tibet House but became possessed by Shiva Nataraja. Not a joke.

So go with a friend or let karma bring you a traveling companion there. It happens. We have done it. Like magnets each Western traveler will meet others. All that's needed is money account and a copy of Lonely Planet. Go.
