Dr. Nikki Mirghafori, Ph.D. (UC Berkeley, Standford University, Insight Meditation Society) is of Persian (Iranian) descent. This interview by Jon Krop (Sit-Heads Meditation Club) was recorded on February 18, 2021. (Conversation begins around Minute 12:30). Offer dana to Dr. Nikki (nikkimirghafori.com/support).

The Burning of Persepolis (1890)
[The word Iranian is cognate of Aryan or "noble one," which the Buddha used when referring to the lineage of enlightened practitioners running far back into prehistory, none of which seems to concern Dr. Nikki in the slightest. See Rhys Davids' translation of The Story of the Lineage. See also Dr. Ranajit Pal's historical account for more details about this area of the world, which seems to be Buddhism Majjhimadesa or "Middle Country" that births all buddhas. Dr. Pal provides a non-Jonesian history to counter Western misconceptions of the region and Persians.]
