Burning Man floods: rain, mud, trap (video)

Burning Man: Attendees ordered to shelter in place, conserve food, water, and fuel

(KHOU 11) Saturday, Sept. 2, 2023, raw video: Flooding across Nevada -- the Black Rock Desert in particular -- has trapped Burning Man festivalgoers. They are locked down, and no one is being allowed to leave the weeklong festival, which will lead to missed flights, lost jobs, and emergency measures. Full story: khou.com/article/news/nat...

Burning Man can survive (anything but rain)
It used to just be the dust, wind, and heat
Well, there are problems in Paradise. First, those darn climate activists tried to block our entrance to Burning Man 2023. It was hot, they were chained, and no one was in a mood to be delayed. Second, bad karma and mojo: Burners busted down their blockade. On second thought, maybe we should've listened to them instead. Third, it was hot but then turned into a deluge of unexpected rain across this corner of the Southwest. There's supposed to be a heat dome bubble over the middle of the country! But hurricanes and tropical storms south in the Gulf and over the Atlantic are coming up into the States and showering us. A heatwave is coming, the news is sayings, warning New Yorkers, and Angelenos are getting rained on again.

In the meantime, Burners are locked down. No one is allowed to leave this dangerous mud pit desert. Is Burning Man cancelled due to inclement weather? Can we have our entrance fee back? That wouldn't cover most of the costs of coming and building this city only to be flooded out, but it might get us home through the mud. And, boy, is there a lot of MUD!
