Accepting Life as It Comes - B Wisdom


To practice equanimity (Pali upekkhā, Sanskrit upekṣā) is to be unwavering or to stay neutral in the face of the "eight worldly conditions" (aṭṭha loka dhamma) [1]:
  • loss and gain,
  • good-repute and ill-repute,
  • praise and blame,
  • sorrow and happiness [2].
In the description of meditative stillness and super-consciousness (samādhi), equanimity is present in the third and fourth meditative absorptions (jhānas). More
