What Aztecs were eating before European invasion and occupation
(Weird History)
The Aztecs or Aztecas thrived in the area corresponding to modern Mexico between the 14th and 15th centuries, until they were crushed by a Conquistador from Spain named Hernán Cortés in 1521. This complex Mesoamerican (not Central American, not South American) culture revolved around growing and consuming delicious foods, particularly maize (what is now known as corn [which was actually considered a famine food, not as nutritious or widespread as amaranth]) -- but what else did the Aztecs eat? What did they grow? What did they eat for dessert? How did they prepare their food? Did they really invent chocolate? #Aztecs#Mesoamerica#WeirdHistory
