According to Buddhism, particularly the Agganna Sutta or "A Buddhist Genesis," life on this planet is not currently evolving but devolving from the extraterrestrials who alighted on became coarser and coarser from their sensual life here and their declining karmic standards and activities. In the future, evolution again takes place, and the whole cycle repeats. Human life on Earth came here, then devolved here, and here we are -- through various generations or iterations with extraterrestrial intervention all along.
