Who is the Buddhist Goddess of Compassion? Kwan Yin (the deva Avalokiteshvara) |
What DMT taught me about the nature of time
What is "time" in the eternal now? |
The Stoned Ape Theory of Terence McKenna? What if humans began as monkeys (or some great ape like bonobos) who found and took a "fruit" (a mushroom being the literal fruiting body of mycelia) and then came to "tree of the knowledge of good and evil" like that ancient Sumerian, Mesopotamian, Judean, Christian Book mentions in passing in Genesis in the Garden of Eden? (Paul Stamets explains a time when mushrooms were the first trees).
There was also a mushroom, though not a psychedelic one, in a Buddhist Genesis (the Agganna Sutra) on "Knowledge of Beginnings." It freely fed us throughout the world until our collective karma made getting food harder. There was once a time when the only diseases were craving and hunger, the maddening pest of always wanting pleasure and the need to find nourishment (the need to eat something).
But more bad karma made other diseases come to be. This is a repeating cycle, not an ultimate first point. And the Buddhist version explains how human life began on Earth not how all life anywhere began. That other life pre-existed, and even now the universe in 10,000 directions is full of life.
