'Becuz' (Because of You) Sonic Youth

Wish I could change the way that you feel
Standing with him you feel more real

Looking so sweet with all your might
Trusting in him to fully ignite

Holding his hand like a brand new kite
Blue eyes sparkle, open, alright

Wish I could see the girl who'd fight
Playing and laughing and trying to show it

Running and falling and dying to know it
Staring you down with her gaze hold it

Wish I could free you
but I can't don't blow it

Angel, gonna show it
Lord
The Devil, go on, hold it
Angel, gonna show it
Lord
Blow it

Because of you, because of you, because of you, because of you
Because of you, because of you, because of you, because of you
Because of you, because of you, because of you, because of you
Because of you, because of you, because of you, because of you

Wish I could free you, but I can't, don't blow it
Wish I could free you, but I can't, don't know it

The Buddha on politics: Early texts (video)

Doug Smith, Doug's Dharma, Secular Buddhist Association, March 20, 2017; Bhikkhu Bodhi; Seth Auberon, Pfc. Sandoval, Dhr. Seven (eds.), Wisdom Quarterly

The Buddha on Politics and Society

(Doug's Dharma) Politics and Society. Let's look at what the historical Buddha had to say about politics and society. He had a very interesting approach and some unique insights to provide.
This is the third Doug's Dharma YouTube video, so it's a bit rougher than some of the later ones. His apologies. Check out his Patreon page: dougsseculardharma. Some posts on Early Buddhism and politics at the Secular Buddhist Association:

The Buddha's Teachings on Social and Communal Harmony: An Anthology of Discourses from the Pali Canon
By Bhikkhu Bodhi with foreword by the Dalai Lama, Kindle Edition
The Buddha's Teachings on Social and Communal
Harmony: Anthology Discourses from Pali Canon
This anthology of translated Theravada Buddhist discourses (sutras) has 4.8 out of 5 stars with 197 ratings. It is part of the series The Teachings of the Buddha (10 books).

In a world of conflict and strife, how can we be advocates of peace and justice? In this volume, acclaimed American Buddhist scholar-monk Dr. Bhikkhu Bodhi, Ph.D., has collected and translated the Buddha’s teachings on
  • conflict resolution,
  • interpersonal and social problem-solving, and
  • the forging of harmonious relationships.
The selections, all drawn from the Pali canon, the earliest record of the historical Buddha’s discourses, are organized into ten thematic chapters. The chapters deal with such topics as
  • the quelling of anger,
  • good friendship,
  • intentional communities,
  • the settlement of disputes, and
  • the establishing of an equitable society.
Each chapter begins with a concise and informative introduction by the translator that guides us toward a deeper understanding of the texts that follow.

In times of social conflict, intolerance, and war, the Buddha’s approach to creating and sustaining peace takes on a new and urgent significance.

Even readers unacquainted with Buddhism will appreciate these ancient teachings, always clear, practical, undogmatic, and so contemporary in flavor.

The Buddha’s Teachings on Social and Communal Harmony will prove to be essential reading for anyone seeking to bring peace into their communities and into the wider world.

Dark Side of Porn featuring Lana Rhoades: 3 Girls 1 Kitchen
(Lana Rhoades) On this episode (18) of 3 Girls 1 Kitchen, the [hosts] dive deep into the dark side of the porn industry, sex work, with former pornstar Lana Rhoades opening up about her traumatic experiences during her career of which she’s never spoken before. Tune in to learn about the harsh reality of how pornography impacts men and women.

How porn changes the brain: Neurology experts explain
(Fight the New Drug) Over the last decade, an overwhelming amount of science and research has come out on the topic of pornography and its harmful effects on the viewer.

Hundreds of studies by experts show how viewing porn develops neuropathways that can change our brains and impact individuals, including:
  • how it can become habit-forming,
  • become an escalating behavior,
  • change how we view other humans, and
  • even impact our mental health.
The good news is that we can retrain and rewire our brains to return to a healthier state. In this episode, experts Dr. Simone Kühn, Dr. Donald Hilton, and Dr. Andrew Dohm share the science behind porn’s impact on our brains.

This episode is part of the Truth About Porn series. Truth About Porn is a growing database dedicated to research on the harmful effects of pornography. Learn more at truthaboutporn.org.

ABOUT: Fight the New Drug is a non-religious and non-legislative organization that exists to provide individuals the opportunity to make an informed decision regarding pornography by raising awareness on its harmful effects using only science, facts, and personal accounts. Threat and Danger of 5G (video)

Sacha Stone/debunkified; Science Friday; Pfc. Sandoval, S. Auberon (eds.), Wisdom Quarterly

5G Apocalypse: The Extinction Event
I want demand an even faster connection.
(April 5, 2019) This full-length documentary by Sacha Stone exposing the 5G threat to humanity in ways never imagined possible. Do local bureaucrats, technocrats, health practitioners, local and federal government agents know about his? Do family and friends? Even NPR's "Science Friday" explains why the high-intensity bombardment by wi-fi microwave towers on every block is bound to do something to the human body that should not be done. But it's coming for the sake of phone reception, data transfer, and streaming convenience so we can be spied on more easily and more thoroughly.

In this documentary weapons experts, molecular and cellular biologists, blood screeners, activists, as well as a few good leaders on the frontlines have something to say. We know what this technology is. We know how it was conceived. And we know where it is intended to take people and the planet. So we are drawing the line here and doing so in full consciousness. Science Friday: The Future of 5G
(NPR, April 19, 2019) The next generation of wireless is on its way. Experts explain the science behind the new technology. Why are some cautioning a slower rollout? Last week, Trump announced a new initiative to push forward the implementation of 5G, the fifth generation of wireless connectivity for smartphones and other devices. Under the plan, the FCC will auction off sections of high-frequency radio spectrum and put more money into rural broadband connectivity -- all in the name of an international race to build wireless networks to be up to 100 times faster than the current generation, 4G LTE. Bikram Yoga loses $7 million sex lawsuit

RT.com, Jan. 28, 2016; Ashley Wells, CC Liu, Crystal Quintero, Dhr. Seven, Wisdom Quarterly
Mr. Bikram Choudhury, who lost his lawsuit and has to pay $6.5 million, seen creeping around in sweaty Speedos in a packed Bikram Yoga class (Luis Sinco/Los Angeles Times).

Bikram yoga founder to pay over $7million in damages following sexual assault trial
Bikram Choudhury, the egotistical business-founder of “Bikram Yoga, Inc.” has been ordered to pay more than $7 million in damages by a Los Angeles, California court for the sexual assault of a former employee.

Bikram was sued by his former legal advisor, Minakshi Jafa-Bodden, who told the court that the 69-year-old sexually assaulted her while she was still his employee.

Jafa-Bodden, who worked for Bikram at his Los Angeles yoga school between 2011 and 2013, also said her boss fired her after she refused to cover up an investigation she had launched into allegations that he had raped a yoga student. Bikram denied all claims.
Bikram kicks ass, like Trump yells.
Bikram, who first taught yoga for money to Pres. Nixon, now owns a mansion in Beverly Hills and a fleet of over 40 cars. [What other Indian gurus does that sound like, Maha Mahesh Yogi, Guru Shri Rajneesh, Osho?]

Bikram refused to tell the court how much he was worth, saying the lawyers would have to ask his accountant about the state of his finances, the Los Angeles Times reported.

He explained, however, that due to the accusations, his yoga business had suffered financially and that he was nearly bankrupt.

"I have to borrow money from my family and friends," he told jurors. "I have no money."

The jury did not believe the India-born guru, however, and on Tuesday [Jan. 2016] ordered him to pay Jafa-Bodden almost $6.5 million in punitive damages in addition to the nearly $1 million the jury had awarded her on Monday in compensation.

"I feel vindicated, I’m elated," Jafa-Bodden told the LA Times, describing Bikram Choudhury as "a dangerous, dangerous predator."

Six other women have lodged similar lawsuits accusing Bikram of sexual assault. His lawyers have branded all the claims as "false."

Choudhury allegedly "created" "Bikram Yoga" in India before moving to the U.S. in the 1970s. The Bikram practice consists of 26 poses performed over a 90-minute session in a room which is heated to 105F (40C). Source

If we could testify against Bikram
Wisdom Quarterly (OPINION)
@frau.loft
Here Bikram Choudhoury (right) "handles" a model on stage while using headband to conceal his balding scalp, normally covered by a ridiculous fedora (@frau.loft/Instagram).
.
The story goes that Bikram took 26 poses in the public domain from a centuries-old collective yoga tradition.

He then patented the sequence and heat in the room and used his lawyers to intimidate and sue any yoga studio that dared to advertise "heat," hot yoga, or any part of the sequence he appropriated.

This was his plan to build an empire, well, this and charging exorbitant sums to teach the sequence before anyone can work in a Bikram studio, those studios being franchises with ongoing licensing fees and new trainings to send their employees to, and leading a lavish lifestyle while sexually harassing and ridiculing students and anyone attending his classes in LA at a studio he calls the "Yoga College of India."

Creep do the creep as they sing "The Creep" then go over to Bikram's. Good times.
Creepy Bikram Choudhury standing on a woman's pelvis in class (yogajournal.com).
.
He is the opposite of what one expects in a yogi. He is the Donald Trump of yoga, a meat eater (which is quite against the sattvic way of yoga), a vulgar sexist, an extravagant materialist who violently disagrees with using yoga to meditate or bliss out.

Instead, he promotes competition in yoga as in business, even trying to remake yoga as an Olympic sport.

All of this, far from alienating crowds, drew Westerners like a magnet. Stay as you are AND follow an "Eastern" path, or at least one watered down enough for you to not notice it's hardly different from how you're already living.

Western students in go-go (imbalanced pita dosha) Los Angeles couldn't get enough of it, couldn't get enough of his bravado and derring-do.

We made him rich, with his cuckold Indian wife in tow, as he openly courted sexual relationships but conducted them in secret. We at Wisdom Quarterly saw it ourselves.

This Bikram scam is a lot like that guy/guru John Friend and his Vinyasa Yoga scam like they, angry Mara and Co., practice over at Mission Yoga in South Pasadena.

SO YOU GUYS LIKE IT?

We do. Bikram Yoga is fun, BUT it is not yoga. It's a perversion of so many yogic principles, so much of what Patajali and other great yogis taught. It's like Tang when you're thirsty for orange juice. If sexual harassment or rape are wanted, try Bikram Yoga. If healing is desired, try Hatha Yoga. Want a cult like atmosphere? Try Kundalini Yoga. If looking for a workout, try Flow Yoga (K. Patabhi Jois' new ashtanga style). Real yoga is called Yoga Philosophy or "Royal," Raja Yoga (originally called Ashtanga or Eight-limb Yoga); it is much more than poses (asanas) and breath-control (pranayama). The real goal of yoga is to facilitate meditation and making the body supple and strong (sthirasuka) to sit with ease.

Go with the flow, go against the stream? (sutra)

Ven. Thanissaro (trans.) Anusota Sutra (AN 4.5); Dhr. Seven, Amber Larson, Wisdom Quarterly
(QOTSA/Queens of the Stone Age/~Eagles of Death Metal dead in Paris) "Go With the Flow"

[Thus have I heard. The Buddha taught:] "There are four types of individuals that can be found existing in the world. What four?
  1. The individual who goes with the flow,
  2. the individual who goes against the stream,
  3. the individual who stands fast, and
  4. the one who has crossed over, gone beyond, who stands on firm ground, a superior person.
1.
Hi. Rupert and I go with thee flow, lol.
"Who is the individual who goes with the flow? In one case an individual indulges in sensual passions and does harmful deeds. This is the individual who goes with the flow.

2.
"Who is the individual who goes against the stream? In another case an individual does not indulge in sensual passions and does not do harmful deeds.

Meditation (AgainstTheStream.org)
"Even though it may be with pain, even though it may be with sorrow, even though one may be crying, one's face in tears, one lives the high life that is perfect and pure. This is the individual who goes against the stream (goes against the flow of the world).

3.
"Who is the individual who stands fast? In one case an individual, with the total abandoning and ending of the first five fetters, is due to be reborn [in the Pure Abodes], there to become enlightened and gain nirvana, never again to return [by rebirth to this world] from that world. This is the individual who stands fast.
We go for guidance (sarana) to the Buddha, the Dharma, and the Sangha (Bugphai/flickr).

4.
With compassion comes wisdom.
"Who is the individual who has crossed over, gone beyond, who stands on firm ground, a superior person?

"In this case an individual, by bringing about the end of the mental effluents (outflows), enters and remains in the taint-free liberation by wisdom, having known and made them manifest for oneself here and now.

"This is the individual who has crossed over, gone beyond, who stands on firm ground, a superior person.

"These are the four types of individuals that can be found existing in the world."

Summary in verse
Those unrestrained in sensual passions, not yet free of passions, indulging in sensuality, they return again and again to birth and aging -- seized by craving, going with the flow.

Thus an enlightened one, with mindfulness established here and now -- not indulging in sensuality and harm, though it may be with pain [of restraint] -- would abandon sensuality. They call such a person one who goes against the stream.

Whoever, having abandoned the first five defilements, is perfect in training, not liable to fall back, skilled in consciousness, with faculties composed: Such a person is one who stands fast.

Even a person of 7-y.o. can become enlightened.
In one who, having known that qualities high and low have been eradicated, gone to their end, do not exist, such a person is called a master of knowledge, one who has fulfilled the high life, gone to the world's end, gone beyond, gone [altogether] beyond.

Are VACCINES safe or even effective?

Pat Macpherson, Pfc. Sandoval, Wisdom Quarterly; Dr. Sherri J. Tenpenny, MD
It should be a crime to poison children if done with good motives, but it's not.

Like many conscientious consumers, Dr. Sherri Tenpenny, MD is concerned about the grave dangers of vaccines.

The controversy blew up in Australia recently, when venues canceled her upcoming seminars to discuss the science, due to small cells of a pro-vaccination lobby group. Who is funding this attack on freedom of speech and open discussion of medicine? The industry that makes money from vaccines, Big Pharma, a government agency? Her visa to visit Australia may be revoked, Dr. Tenpenny says, lamenting that free speech is being quashed even in scientific circles.

What do vaccines do?
STOP THE SHOTS and do some research first!
At best when they are not purposely contaminated with excipients (extra ingredients such as mercury, thimerosal, ethylene glycol, toxic preservatives, growing media for the virus, and other carrier compounds that do not serve the primary function claimed on the label) all vaccines do is provoke antibodies.

But this has NOT been demonstrated to help anything. A benefit has not been scientifically established, yet it is all a vaccine is confirmed to do in terms of benefit. Exposure to disease provokes antibodies (think of AIDS and HIV and malaria). What about what vaccines do in terms of HARM? We are not allowed to hear about that.

Iatrogenesis (harm or death from correctly following medical treatment instructions) is not allowed to be discussed at all. For example, the prescription drugs cause more deaths today than do any other drugs -- when used correctly and as prescribed!

And if the government or any secretive agency adds an additional ingredient, in collusion with the money-making industry promoting vaccination for everything, who is protecting consumers from that? Inject me and my children with mystery substances? I don't think so.

Few know that the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program in the U.S. has awarded damages for autism in children in at least 12 cases -- "and autism is just the most extreme form of vaccine injury," with brain inflammation listed as a possible side effect on most of the vaccines, the doctor states.

Who is this MD?
Dr. Sherri J. Tenpenny, MD
Dr. Tenpenny is an osteopathic medical doctor, board certified in three medical specialties. From 1986 to 1998, she was a full-time emergency medicine physician and the Director of the Emergency Department in Findlay, Ohio. In 1996, she opened the Center for Integrative Medicine now located in Middleburg Heights. Patients have come from nearly all 50 states and 14 other countries to get well using a combination of conventional and alternative therapies.

Beyond her recognition in the field of integrative medicine, she is the most knowledgeable and outspoken physician on the negative impact vaccines can have on health. Dr. Tenpenny has invested more than 18,000 hours documenting the serious problems with vaccines.

NO! Who would allow or ask for their kids to be injected with known toxic compounds?
.
She is the author of several books and a contributing author for several more including Textbook of Food and Nutrients in Disease Management (Johns Hopkins Univ. Press). Her articles about vaccine hazards have been translated into more than 10 languages.

In addition to being a guest on hundreds of radio and national television programs (including the Dr. Oz Show), Dr. Tenpenny is the medical consultant for Parker Hannifin, a Fortune 200 company with 60,000 employees in 48 countries. She is helping to develop health-conscious and holistic programs for the company’s locations in the U.S. and around the world. She is also the medical correspondent for WHDT TV with a daily health segment called, “Common Solutions for Common Health Problems.”

DRTENPENNY.COM STANDS FOR:
  • We oppose the one-size-fits-all public health policy imposed by state rules and enforced by physicians, hospitals, and public health employees.
  • We oppose public health policies that demand the rights of the individuals must be secondary to rights of individuals to refuse the injection of products that can have long term, even deadly, consequences to their health.
  • We support the freedom to refuse any medical procedure, including vaccination.
  • We support fully informed consent, which means admitting to the harm that vaccines can cause and allowing the person time for consideration.
  • We believe that vaccines can cause more harm to the health of the individual -- and subsequently to the community as a whole -- than the good vaccines are claimed to do by vaccine proponents.
Vaccine Research Library
(VaccineResearchLibrary.com) Making vaccination decisions is an important personal responsibility that should not be left to any medical or scientific "authority." Parents and consumers must educate themselves about infectious diseases, vaccines and their potential outcomes to the extent that they feel absolutely confident and well prepared for taking full responsibility for the consequences of their decisions. KARMA
I don't know about these shots (Laila Re).
What is bad karma? It is acting out of greed, hatred/fear, or delusion. We say our motive is "good" because we care, but because we are motivated by delusion, ignorance, or wrong view, we are making bad karma.

Our motive for doing something, if it is deluded, is not a "good" motive...even if we pat ourselves on the back for doing what the TV or the pharmacist told us to do because that's what those sources were told to say.

Anger, Madness, and Destructive Behavior

Dr. Stephen A. Diamond, Secrets of Psychotherapy (IV): Change or Acceptance?
What is the ultimate goal of psychotherapy?
Let's start with a simple word association experiment: When thinking about psychotherapy, what is the first word that comes to mind to describe what therapy is all about?

Take a few seconds. Got it? For many,my guess is that one, if not the very first, of those words was change. But what if I were to say that psychotherapy is really at least as much about acceptance?

When Sigmund Freud made the oft-cited and misunderstood statement that the purpose of psychoanalysis is to "transform neurotic misery into common unhappiness," he was speaking of change.

But how is even such seemingly modest change accomplished in therapy? So much of the changes that happen in psychotherapy parallel a gradual process of acceptance: acceptance of life as it truly is, as opposed to the way we wish it to be.

Acceptance of past childhood trauma and its pervasive unconscious influence in the present. Acceptance of ourselves for who we are, rather than who we are not.

Freud's off-the-cuff comment may seem cynical. But when seen in the light of his own personal suffering from oral cancer during the final 15 years of his life and how he stoically faced that terrible fate, it is a mature and sober commentary on the absolute necessity of acceptance.

Rather than reflecting his profound pessimism about the human condition, as many mistakenly conclude, Freud's remark recognizes deeply and personally the need for courageous acceptance of physical and emotional suffering and, moreover, the high price we pay for trying to avoid or deny life's tragic aspect. Sexual Misconduct or Adultery?

There's something strange about "sexual misconduct" (kamesu micchacara). In Buddhism and in Asia it means having sex with someone who is off limits. That is, the other person's state is what matters. Ten people are off limits.

But in Christianity and in America sexual misconduct is often translated as "adultery," which has the opposite meaning! There the perpetrator matters, not the accomplice. Whether one is involved in a committed relationship matters. In fact, we often think the accomplice is quite innocent (since it wasn't that person cheating on his or her partner).

For example, if Tiger Woods cheats on his spouse, we think it's "cheating" because he's married. We might also ask if the other woman, his accomplice, was off limits in a Buddhist sense.
  • Who is "off limits"? Anyone under the protection of mother, father, parents, spouse, family, guardians, religious community, law, or those betrothed, or promised for marriage.

The meaning seems to be anyone who is not independent. Nowhere does it say that the actor is any of these things. So Tiger's mistresses are engaging in sexual misconduct, which is a very heavy karma, because he is married. Surely he has done something as well?

The consequence is that by engaging in sex, others will be hurt and harmed -- usually the partner (the cuckold or cuckquean) but also families, children, and society. To have sex one should first ensure that one is independent and not involved in a relationship that precludes dating others.

What is the Consequence of Adultery?
The Workings of Kamma (Pa Auk Sayadaw)
MAHAPADUMA'S PICTURE
Then there is the picture painted by Mahapaduma ("Great Lotus"), the pacceka (nonteaching) buddha-to-be. In the time of Kassapa Buddha’s dispensation, "Mahapaduma" was a monk. He had already developed the enlightenment-perfection (parami) for becoming a nonteaching-buddha over an unimaginably long period. And as a monk in Buddha Kassapa’s dispensation, he further developed this perfection.

One of his wholesome karmas (actions capable of bearing a result) functioned as productive karma to produce rebirth as the son of a treasurer in Varanasi, India. He also became a treasurer, and in that life he committed "adultery." [This is a Buddhist story more likely to mean unspecified "sexual misconduct" than "cheated on his wife"].

At death, an adultery-karma functioned as productive karma to produce rebirth in a hellish world. And when he eventually escaped from hell, an indefinitely-effective wholesome karma functioned as productive karma to produce rebirth: But now he was reborn as a treasurer’s daughter!

While "she" was in her mother’s womb, an adultery-karma functioned as an unwholesome frustrating karma so that she and her mother suffered many burning sensations. She always remembered this suffering. Furthermore, even though wholesome karma produced for her a beautiful appearance, it was frustrated by adultery-karma. So she met much hatred, even from her parents.

Later, when her hand was given in marriage, the adultery-karma again functioned as frustrating karma. Although she was beautiful, intelligent, and stoic, her husband also hated and did not care for her.

Therefore, always remember this story. For the sufferings she met reflect exactly the sufferings of those who are victims of adultery.

One day owing to his hatred for her, her husband went to the fair with another woman. In tears, she said to him: "Even if a woman were the daughter of a universal monarch (a ruler of the world), she would still live for her husband’s happiness. What you do breaks my heart! If you do not want to take care of me, please send me back to my parents. But if you love me, you should take care of me. You should not behave like this!"

She begged her husband to take her to the fair, and he told her to make preparations. She did, but on the day of the festival, she heard that her husband had already gone to the fair without her. So she followed him with her servants, bringing food and drink that she had prepared.

On the way, she met a nonteaching-buddha who had emerged from the cessation attainment (a meditative experience called nirodha samapatti). She descended from her carriage, took his bowl, filled it with food, and offered it to him. When her offering was accepted, she took hold of a bundle of lotuses, and painted a picture:
  1. Venerable Sir, in every future life, may I be reborn in a lotus!
  2. In every future life, may I be the color of a lotus!
  3. In every future life, may I become a man!
  4. May everyone who sees me love me as they love lotuses!
  5. May I know the Dharma that you know!

Why did she make these aspirations? She wanted to be reborn in a lotus because she had already undergone much suffering in her mother’s womb. She wanted to have the color of a lotus because she liked the color. Her life as a woman had caused her much misery, so she wanted to become a man. Nobody had loved her, not even her parents, so she wanted to be loved by everybody who saw her. Lastly, she had developed sufficient spiritual-perfection to become a nonteaching-buddha, so there was a strong desire to become one.

In this way, she painted the picture of a perfect man complete in all his features on the canvas of Samsara, the round of rebirth. The [massively] wholesome karma of her offering functioned as presently effective karma (ditthadhamma vedaniya kamma) that intercepted the frustrating adultery-karma and produced its own results. Her husband, who suddenly remembered her, sent for her. From then on not only he but everyone showed her much love.

The wholesome karma of her offering functioned also as subsequently-effective karma to give her rebirth as a male deva in a lotus in the deva world. There he was called Mahapaduma. He was reborn in the deva worlds over and over again, sometimes highborn, sometimes lowborn. In his last birth, at the suggestion of King Sakka, he was born in a lotus in a pond in the park of the King of Varanasi, whose queen was childless. She saw the lotus in the pond, picked it up, and found the child inside as if in a casket. She adopted him and brought him up in great luxury.

Everybody who saw him loved him very much. The king issued a proclamation that any harem which could feed the baby, Prince Mahapaduma, would receive 1,000 coins. For that reason there was much commotion in the palace as countless women entertained him.

Prince Mahapaduma’s rebirth into the royal family was again one of his offering-to-a-nonteaching-buddha karmas that functioned as productive karma. And all of these different types of happiness were identical karmas that functioned also as reinforcing karmas.

When the prince was about 13, he became disenchanted with the entertainment. His perfections (parami) for the attainment of the status of a nonteaching-buddha were now mature and ready to produce their results.

One day while playing outside the palace gate, he saw a nonteaching-buddha. He warned him not to enter the palace as anyone who entered would be forced to eat and drink. The nonteaching-buddha turned away. Afterwards, he was remorseful in case he had caused offense. So he went by elephant to see him and to ask for forgiveness. Approaching, he descended from his elephant and went the remainder of the way on foot. Closer to the nonteaching-buddha’s dwelling, he dismissed his attendants and went alone.

But he found the nonteaching-buddha’s hut empty. So he sat down, developed insight, and became one. All taints were destroyed. Permanent liberation of mind was achieved. Such are the workings of karma. So the Buddha reiterated:

"Therefore, monks, one should reflect repeatedly upon one’s own mind: ‘For a long time this mind has been defiled by lust, by hatred, and by delusion.’ By mental defilement, monks, beings are defiled. By mental purification, beings are purified" (Gaddula·Baddha Sutra).
