Visit to Turkmenistan, Central Asia (video)

There is a Gateway to Hell, a major tourist draw in Turkmenistan (Darvaza gas crater),
The dictator upstairs is limiting tourists to the entrance, I hear. Here he is. Let's ask him.
  • World-famous Afghan Buddhas of Bamiyan
Buddhism in Central Asia may sound strange, but Buddhism really began in Central Asia (a place some might call the Stans), where the Buddha was born and raised: Scythia, Saka, Gandhara. While legend has him in Nepal, Dr. Ranajit Pal and archeology corrects that notion.
  • Ancient Gandhara is some modern Stans
The largest Buddhist monuments and monasteries in the world are in modern Afghanistan, and they did not arrive there via the Silk Road transmission but had already been there even as Bihar was populated with so many Vihar's that it got its name as an Indian state. They were celebrating their native son, who returned seven years after he set off on his quest. There was no "India" at that time, only Magadha and other independent kingdoms that were united two centuries later by Buddhist Emperor Ashoka. In these strange and little-known countries there are Buddhist artifacts that make little sense until one places "Scythiamuni" Buddha in his proper context, in a land from in and around Indo-Saka-stan.

Secret Society: Euro hippie commune (video)

Yes Theory, Feb. 13, 2022; Pat Macpherson, Dhr. Seven, Amber Larson (eds.), Wisdom Quarterly

Inside the secret underground society of Damanhur
(Yes Theory) This idea originated from Yes Theory's friend Lexie Alford (@LexieLimitless), the youngest person to travel to every country, who also joined us on this trip.

Her travel adventure videos are incredible, and we highly recommend checking out her channel (youtube.com/c/LexieLimitless). This was definitely one of the strangest experiences we’ve ever had.

Traveling to the Damanhur community (Federation of Damanhur) in Italy and being allowed to come document their world was a confusing and fascinating experience, leaving us with more questions than answers.

So we hope that viewers take everything in here with a grain of salt [which is not a particle but an archaic measure equivalent to 65 mg]. We got very close to not posting this story but feel we did our best to see represent our experience. Enjoy the ride.

MARC: "The Yes Brain" (UCLA workshop)

The Yes Brain with Dr. Daniel J. Siegel, MD and Dr. Tina Payne Bryson, PhD

The Yes Brain (amazon.com)
Join us at MARC for a talk inspired by Dr. Dan Siegel and Dr. Tina Payne Bryson's latest book, The Yes Brain.

When facing challenges, unpleasant tasks, and contentious issues such as homework, screen time, food choices, and bedtime, children often act out or shut down, responding with reactivity instead of receptivity.

This is what New York Times bestselling authors Daniel J. Siegel and Tina Payne Bryson call a "No Brain response." But our kids can be taught to approach life with openness and curiosity. Parents can foster children’s ability to say yes to the world and welcome all that life has to offer, even during difficult times. This is what it means to cultivate a "Yes Brain."
When kids work from a Yes Brain, they’re more willing to take chances and explore. They’re more curious and imaginative, less worried about making mistakes. They’re better at relationships and more flexible and resilient when it comes to handling adversity and big feelings.

They work from a clear internal compass that directs their decisions, as well as the way they treat others. Guided by their Yes Brain, they become more open, creative, and resilient.

Eckhart Tolle: The End of Suffering

Eckhart Tolle speaks of nirvana ("the end of suffering") from a unbiased spiritual perspective and how this is brought about through saying "yes" to what is. When resistance stops, one begins to live in the now, in this moment, just as it is. And that opens one up to enlightenment:
