Marry me, Ficus. I love trees! |
- Two Florida women "married" a giant ficus tree at a Fort Myers, Florida park.
- The tree has been in the park for more than a century, but city officials wanted to kill/cut it down because its roots extend to a neighboring lot, on sale for US $1 million.
- In an effort to save the tree, Karen Cooper and Dana Foglesong decided to marry the tree at a ceremony in front of 50 people.
- City spokeswoman Stephanie Schaffer said city officials are now moving forward to save their new husband.
