UCLA: Free Mindfulness Meditation Sessions

UCLA's MARC; Ananda (Dharma Buddhist Meditation), Dhr. Seven, Jen B., Wisdom Quarterly
What's "mindfulness"? It is bare awareness without identifying with or attaching to experience.

Los Angeles' jewel "uckla" has reopened.
There are FREE 30-minute drop-in sessions are led by Diana Winston, Dr. Marvin Belzer, and other MARC (
Mindful Awareness Research Center) teachers.

They are open to EVERYONE, not just current students, interested in learning how to live life more in the "present."

Psych now ignores the Buddha on mindfulness
Mindfulness (sati, "bare awareness," "presence of mind," "vigilant attention," "bare witnessing," or "dispassionate observation," "detached attentiveness") is the moment-by-moment process of openly accepting and dispassionately observing our physical, emotional, and mental experiences free of our customary
  1. clinging (with greed) to the pleasant
  2. rejecting (with hatred) to the unpleasant
  3. confounding (with delusion) to the neither pleasant nor unpleasant in reaction to them.
"Right mindfulness," which the Buddha called samma sati, has scientific support. It reduces stress, improves attention, boosts mood and immunity, reduces emotional reactivity, and promotes health and well-being. But it can be harmful when done incorrectly.
