Octopuses are the smartest aliens on Earth

Octopus intelligence experiment takes an unexpected turn
(Octolab TV, 5/27/19) This octopus with a twist top bottle that contains a delicious snack. The bottle has a small opening that allows him to get one of his arms through the hole in order to touch and taste the fish.

How smart's an octopus? (A World Unseen/OSU)
However, due to the small size of the opening, the octopus is unable to pull the fish through. The only way it can access its food is to unscrew the top of the bottle. It was able to find another way into the bottle that was not foreseen by its human handlers.

It’s always fun when an experiment takes a turn no one expected. In order to understand the force applied to pop the white top off, experimenters tried to replicate this.

They were able to pop the lid off outside of the tank, but when the bottle was inside the tank, no one was able to duplicate what the octopus did. Even when a tremendous amount of force was applied, no one was able to do what it did inside the water.
