No, don't change! I need you to stay the same or I'll suffer! Go back to being the same!!

When life changes, stop clinging to it - Alan Watts on the philosophy of Yūgen
(T&H - Inspiration & Motivation) Here is a powerful and profound speech on our changing world by Zen Buddhist/Hindu/Taoist explainer Alan Watts.

Original audio sourced from “Out of Your Mind 11: The World as Emptiness (Part 1).”

Whaddya mean "let go"? I need this thing!
Clinging (upādāna) is a very terrible habit in Buddhism. It is rooted in delusion/ignorance (moha) and often accompanied by fear/aversion (dosa). We grasp at things we think will bring us pleasure and relief, not realizing we are taking up suffering and dooming ourselves to disappointment. Not learning from one catastrophe, we go on to another and another, life after life. When an awakened teacher points to a solution, some see it. Most of us miss it.

“The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance,” explained spiritual entertainer Alan Watts (1915–1973) when he came from Britain to live in California.
