(KTLA 5) May 1, 2024: Police were noticeably absent when violence erupted on the campus of the University of California Los Angeles Tuesday night amid dueling protests over the Israel-Hamas war. Dozens of pro-Israeli protestors, many wearing white masks and flags around their shoulders, arrived around 10:45 p.m. and began attempting to dismantle the encampment, deploying fireworks and what may have been bear spray. At least one person was injured and was seen being carried away.

Many younger Jews are increasingly critical of Israel and less supportive of Zionism.
Simone Zimmerman, one of the protagonists of the film and a co-founder of the group IfNotNowMovement.org, says she grew up being told that supporting Israel was central to her Jewish identity.
But that collapsed once she visited the illegally Occupied Palestinian Territories [where Jews steal land in the name of Israel with the protection of armed Jewish militants of the IDF] and saw the system of racist apartheid and systematic state oppression under which millions of Palestinians live.
“It’s so deeply contrary to our values as Jewish people to support this disgusting oppression and denial of freedom,” she says.
Democracy Now! is also joined by Erin Axelman, co-director and one of the producers of Israelism, who says Zimmerman’s journey mirrors their own and those of many other young Jews who realize they “must fight for the freedom and equality of Palestinians while also fighting antisemitism.”
The film is on a 40-city screening tour in Canada and the United States after previous efforts to ban the screenings on several campuses.

Who cares about guns in the hands of a few when we are putting weapons of war in the hands of the many? We pay taxes for it, vote for it, and suffer for it.
How can we stop? We must divest our society from weapons manufacturers in the U.S. and Israel.
Divesting or pulling out of the business of war, rejecting the "war machine," means no longer investing our money in companies that make a killing on killing.
Some corporations purposely profit from military interventions and expansions. They are "war profiteers" in government and industry. Divest from War campaign will:
Empower individuals, institutions, and communities to change their investments and support peace and sustainability
Instead of war, death, and destruction we want life, health, and sustainability
Highlight how the war machine is in our streets and in our communities impacting us all
Expose how the war machine is taking precious resources away from good programs
Industries that support us, from education to housing to the environment, that are being deprived
Amplify the cost of war at home and abroad.
Making peace makes more sense than war.
Let's re-prioritize human need over military spending. The war machine has resulted in a system that expands violence and waste.
It results in death, maiming, PTSD, moral injury, poverty, and environmental destruction.
Our U.S. is constantly preparing for war and scaring us to do it. That is the money-making "job" of the mainstream media.

It is draining resources from programs that support human, animal, and plant life on our planet. Let's invest in diplomacy and life.
Let's divest ourselves of war money. This is a call to radically re-evaluate our/US priorities.

Pink Floyd co-founder, singer, bass player Roger Waters (the British musician who wrote "The Wall" and now lives in the US) has in recent years become one of the most prominent musicians supporting the BDS Movement:Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions against Israel.
BDS targets Israel because of its genocide and daily mistreatment of Palestinians. Waters is scheduled to play this weekend in Long Island, New York, despite attempts by Nassau County officials to shut down the concerts citing a local Anti-BDS bill.

Today Scott Horton had on a guest who explained how Israel continues to commit crimes and atrocities against Palestinians without Americans much noticing or caring. Horton pointed out that most Jews in the U.S. oppose Israel's mistreatment and oppression of non-Jews in Palestine/Israel.

Ruebner explains how the act would criminalize U.S. corporations and
individuals for supporting or furthering the impact of a boycott-divest-sanction (BDS) movement against
Israel.
Despite obvious major free speech restrictions the bill has
support from both Democrats and Republicans, many of whom are already
backing off their commitment to the bill.
What’s really disturbing about
the bill according to Ruebner is that companies could be criminalized
even if their business decisions had the effect, but not intent, of
furthering a boycott of Israel. Beyond that, if the bill became law,
Attorney General Sessions would have the power to jail someone ostensibly for their political beliefs.
Ruebner explains how the
bill has already created blowback against AIPAC and Israel: Constituents
are pressing members of Congress on this issue for the first time and
the progressive wing of the Democratic party is feeling more emboldened
to speak out in support of the Palestinians, making it clear that the
base of democratic voters no longer on board with Israeli policy of the
past.
Finally, Ruebner discusses the necessary conditions for a
political solution between Israel and Palestine and how the BDS movement
has successfully convinced companies to divest from Israel.
