Palestine becomes state: Israel says NO!

I'm sex symbol Gal Gadot, Israelien (Israeli-alien)/IDF tool, killing for my Ashkenazi Yisrael!

How three terrorist groups formed the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) | The Big Picture
(Middle East Eye) The Big Picture Podcast. Before the formation of the IDF or "Israel Defense Forces" in 1948, there were three underground terrorist Jewish groups known as Zionist militias (Ashkenazi European white supremacist racist militants), the Haganah, the Irgun, and the Lehi.

We kill in for our group in our God's name
They differed in tactics and beliefs and at times fought with each other, but together they terrorized Palestinian villages and executed attacks and bombings against the British to force them to give up control of occupied land so they could illegally occupy it.

They blew up hotels in Jerusalem, embassies in Europe, and assassinated a UN mediator.

After Israel was officiated as a "state" [which it has never officially become because to ratify all that is needed would mean agreeing on a constitution and being just another group (Ashkenazi European invaders) in a utopia-in-the-making until it can kill off enough of the indigenous "Arabs" to rule without hindrance from pesky human rights violations and an ethnically cleansed people suing for their legal "right of return"] -- the three militias would create the IDF -- and their leaders would go on to form Israel’s government, become politicians, ambassadors, and prime ministers.

And their dark history would be forgotten. This week on The Big Picture, we unpack that history. Subscribe and listen on all podcast platforms: thebigpicture.buzzsprout.com.

The system that controls us all

What if after all that suffering, all that listening to socially woke punk rock of the Eighties (like the Not So Quiet on the Western Front compilation by Jello Biafra's Alternative Tentacles Records), things suddenly became clear? Now they made sense. Now everything made sense. And all the pain and suffering that preceded came to fruition as understanding. It's possible. Here one brave person has a realization about the thing everyone else is missing. That is, what is controlling the illusion?

We choose our suffering (Edgar Cayce)

The struggle to meditate sucks. Being there, ah!
Edgar Cayce (A.R.E. or Association for Research and Enlightenment) conducted trance-channel readings that revealed a great deal more than he the man could have known. The council or collective that came through brought forth much understanding.

Our suffering is not necessarily accidental. While bad, offensive, and sometimes insufferable, there is something that could be learned if we would view it that way.

The Aggregates that experience are dukkha.
What is "suffering"? The Buddha often spoke of it long before Cayce, so it might be good to ask him, as this is a very misunderstood term. The ancient term is dukkha, "disappointment," "unsatisfactoriness," the range of the unpleasant between annoyance and agony. The Buddha defined suffering this way:

An Exploration of Anicca, Anatta, and Dukkha in Buddhism – Indo-Buddhist Heritage Forum
.
Suffering is much more than one thing.
"Rebirth is suffering, aging is suffering, death is suffering; sorrow, lamentation, pain, grief, and despair are suffering; contact with what is disliked is suffering; separation from what is liked is suffering; not getting what one wants is suffering. In short, the Five Aggregates clung to as self are suffering [unsatisfactory, disappointing, unable to fulfill, associated with pain]" (SN 56.11).
  • Hey, why talk about it? Why doesn't the B shut up already? Yeah, yeah, yeah, we suffer. Got it. That's clear enough. We're doing everything we can to AVOID it. So the less we talk about it, the better we'll feel. Duh! Become a hedonist. And shut yer yapper, O Great One.
Sadly, this view has been prevalent since before the time of the Buddha, so when the Buddha, the Awakened One, bothered to mention this ugly word, dukkha ("suffering"), were people or devas happy to hear it? No way. That's the last thing they wanted to hear about.

Pain is inevitable, but suffering's optional.
This is where the misunderstanding begins, and it could end here if hearers would just put away their aversion and LISTEN. A doctor comes in with the results of your scan and examination. Want to hear what's wrong? No way, just get right to the cure! Let's only talk about perfect health. What's it going to take? It's going to take all that? Forget it. I'll keep my illness. Why, I never... It's only when we see how bad and big the problem is that we adopt the right view about it and are open to the cure.

Hacking of the American Mind
The Buddha would have had a much nicer time to only speak positively and in an "airy fairy" sort of way, doling out magic, bliss, sprinkles, blessings, smiles, good cheer, good news, and the energy of a modern motivational speaker. He could have just told everyone who came to him in pain, confused, or ignorant, "That's right, you're doing great, attaboy, right on, keep it up!" They would have been so happy to hear it. But because he understood and was willing to show us the awful truth, he came to be called the Master Physician. He never met a kind of pain he couldn't cure. The first step? Recognition. Second step? Cause or diagnosis. Third step? Assessment or prognosis. Fourth step? (This is the best one!) The cure, solution, course of treatment, the way to fix what's broken as described in the first step.

"Suffering"?
I can take it because I'm a bodhisattva. Ouch!!!
No single English word captures the range, depth, and subtlety of the ancient Pali and Sanskrit term dukkha. Many translations try ("disappointment," "suffering," "unsatisfactoriness," "stress," etc.) Each captures part of the meaning in a given context. There is value in realizing more than one term is needed because the thrust of Buddhist practice is broadening and deepening the understanding of a term so important to the Buddha that he often claimed to only teach two things -- what is dukkha and what is the elimination of dukkha. Until its roots are finally exposed and eradicated, we will not understand why he focused almost as much on the problem as its solution. When landing on the single best English translation, think again. No matter how we translate dukkha, it's always subtler, deeper, and less satisfactory than that.

Blogisattva Award finalist and winner

What are awards for?
We have a 20-year archive, from the time we were a print edition to expanding worldwide by going digital, Wisdom Quarterly: American Buddhist Journal has been at it to make the Dharma known in the West. The Blogisattva Awards (blogisattva.org) were often the golden ring to strive for. Wow, what if we could wrangle one of them by talking about Dharma and rock and rap music, or sex and morality, or the most subtle philosophical concepts and a good workout for a fit body for a bodhisattva to endeavor? That'd be something.

Bodhisattvas ("persons bent on enlightenment") are by definition not enlightened.
The Buddha was the original Bodhisattva; it is how he referred to himself prior to it.

If readers enjoy Buddhist blogs of any variety, there are two gentlemen who did a lot of work to bring this gift to the online Dharma community, Kyle of The Reformed Buddhist (X/@ReformedBuddha) and Nate Demontigny of Precious Metal (X/@PreciousMetal). Blogisattva Award winners, when they're announced, if they're announced, are announced in December. We'll keep our fingers crossed.

Wisdom Quarterly is the leading independent journal of Buddhism in the West, where it continues to be the most incisive and outrageous, possibly even the most widely read platform for the spreading of Buddhist points of view and liberal values. We cover all schools and sects, while trying to cleave to the original texts of the historical Buddha for final answers, yet recognizing that all teachers, traditions, and lineages must have something good or they would not persist.

There's a broader culture and a more Buddhistic point of view on how to face the challenges of the world with hope and the ambition of bringing compassion and enlightenment or at least rancor (fomenting controversy) and exploring the counterintuitive to get at Truth. Norway, Ireland, Spain: STATE of Palestine

Joe, stop them, condemn them, sanction and punish them before they ruin our plans!

Yoohoo, Netanyahu! Shoot US missiles this way.
Norway, Ireland, and Spain said they are recognizing a Palestinian state in a historic move that drew condemnation [outrage, anger, hurt, fury] and plans for exacting revenge] from [and by genocidal] Israel and jubilation from the Palestinians [who are currently being tortured and exterminated].

(THE ASSOCIATED PRESS, May 22, 2024) Spain, Ireland, and Norway said Wednesday (May 22) that they would recognize a Palestinian state on May 28, 2024, a step toward a long-held Palestinian aspiration to be recognized as an official state.

This has come amid international outrage over Israel's war crimes, atrocities, and crimes against humanity in indiscriminately killing civilian and alleged combatants in waves of collective punishment.

The death toll and humanitarian crisis Israel is causing by its offensive in the Gaza Strip is inexcusable in spite of Israel’s propaganda and psyops campaign amid sits offensive attacks and escalations.
Say NO to Genocide Joe (Shoresh/IG)
The almost simultaneous decisions by two European Union countries and Norway may generate momentum for the recognition of a Palestinian state by other EU countries and could spur further steps at the United Nations, deepening warmongering colonial Israel’s isolation.

Currently, seven member of the 27-nation European Union officially recognize a Palestinian state. Five of them are former east bloc countries who announced recognition in 1988, as did Cyprus, before joining the bloc.

Sweden announced recognition in 2014. The Czech Republic, an EU member, says that the 1988 recognition by the former Czechoslovakia — of which it then formed a part — does not apply to the modern state.

Slovakia’s Foreign Ministry says that the two sides confirmed their recognition as Slovakia was becoming independent in 1992-93, and that the Palestinian state has a fully-functioning embassy in Bratislava since 2006. More

Life is full of stories. Sometimes one small story gives a glimpse of a far larger one. Last week I was in Prague to speak to executives at one of Europe’s largest lottery and online gaming groups. The industry is being buffeted by negative attitudes towards gambling, a ton of regulation, and the shift online. And these people want to know what to do about it.

Every so often one shows an example to an audience and gets a visceral response. That happened this time when I talked about how Chinese technology giant Tencent has started using camera-enabled facial recognition to restrict the amount of time young people spend inside the multiplayer video game Honor of Kings. *Cue gasps then wry laughter.* For those in the room this example was nothing more than a momentary glimpse of the world’s largest video game market. Japan Recognizes Indigenous Group

Did the Ainu come from Siberia? As indigenous North Asians living on the disputed island of Sakahlin they could have easily traveled betwen the Kuril Islands that lead down to Japan. (Invasion of the Kuril Islands, Sea of Okhotsk).

The Ainu are an indigenous people who have recently been recognized by the Japanese government. The group has come a long way since the Japanese government tried to assimilate it by force. The Ainu are now seen as a model of humans [like Native Americans and other aborigines around the world, with the possible exception of Easter Island] living in harmony with nature. More + AUDIO

Overcoming difficulties: Let it R.A.I.N.

Tara Brach [adapted from her book True Refuge (Bantam, 2013)]; Wisdom Quarterly

Tara Brach (examiner.com)
Years ago some American Buddhist teachers began to share a new mindfulness tool that offers in-the-trenches support for working with intense and difficult emotions.

Called RAIN (an acronym for the four steps of the process), it can be accessed in almost any place or situation. It directs our attention in a clear, systematic way that cuts through confusion and stress.

The steps give us somewhere to turn in a painful moment. And as we call on them more regularly, they strengthen our capacity to come home to our deepest truth. Like the clear sky and clean air after a cooling rain, this mindfulness practice brings a new openness and calm to our daily lives.

I have now taught RAIN to thousands of students, clients, and mental health professionals, adapting and expanding it into [True Refuge]. I’ve also made it a core practice in my own life. Here are the four steps of RAIN presented in the way I’ve found most helpful:
  • R Recognize what is happening
  • A Allow life to be just as it is
  • I Investigate inner experience with kindness
  • N Non-Identification.
RAIN directly de-conditions the habitual ways in which we resist moment-to-moment experience. It doesn’t matter whether we resist “what is” by lashing out in anger, by having a cigarette, [by sex, drugs, rock 'n roll or rap], or by getting immersed in obsessive thinking.

Our attempt to control the life within and around us actually cuts us off from our own heart and from this living world. RAIN begins to undo these unconscious patterns as soon as we take the first step.

Recognize what is, accept that it is, investigate what's going on inside, and realize that there's no reason to identify with situations. More

CIA's "Facebook" tanking before IPO

Facebook Traffic Drops For a Second Month In a Row - Is The Funfair Over?
iLo Ivy (Technocrati, June 13, 2011)
Inside Facebook reported, for the first time, a consecutive monthly drop in traffic figures, making this a slower growth than usual. The U.S. fell to 149.4 million users in May, while Canada lost 1.52 million. The U.K., Norway, and Russia also reported losses of over 100,000 users, according to today’s morning tech wrap on Forbes. The question is, what could be behind this dramatic fall? Invariably, short-term factors will always influence Facebook’s traffic from country to country. Yet, could this perhaps have something to do with the recent cyber security breaches on the networks of other major sites and big corporations like IMF's? More

Facebook's facial recognition: CIA jackpot!

Lauren Effron (Nightline, ABCNews.com, June 10, 2011)
User browses the social networking site Facebook that now identifies "friends" in photos automatically without their permission (Chris Jackson/Getty Images).

Oh, Facebook, here we go again. The social media giant is facing a new wave of concerns over privacy protection after launching its latest feature:

It "allows" [forces unless one opts out] users to identify their friends automatically in photos without their permission.

The photo tagging tool, called Tag Suggestions, was put into place in December. But it was listed as unavailable until recently. Here's how it works:

When a user uploads new photos to his or her Facebook profile, the new feature then scans them with [police-approved] facial recognition software to match the people in the photos with other photos in which they might have been previously tagged.

The feature also offers "group tagging," which allows [pressures] users to type in a person's name and "apply it to multiple photos of the same person," according to Facebook's blog post on the subject. The problem is that users can do this without their friend's permission. More

Ex-Agent: CIA Seed Money Helped Launch Google
An ex-CIA agent has gone further than ever before in detailing Google's relationship with the Central Intelligence Agency.

He claims sources told him that CIA seed money helped get the company off the ground and has for the first time named Google's CIA point man.

Robert David Steele, a 20-year Marine Corps infantry and intelligence officer and former clandestine services case officer with the Central Intelligence Agency, is the CEO of OSS.net.

Speaking to the Alex Jones Show, Steele elaborated on his previous revelations by making it known that the CIA helped bankroll Google at its very inception.

"I think Google took money from the CIA when it was poor and it was starting up and unfortunately our system right now floods money into spying and other illegal and largely unethical activities, and it doesn't fund what I call the open source world," said Steele, citing "trusted individuals" as his sources for the claim.

"They've been together for quite a while," added Steele....

Mindfulness: 6 R's

Easy to Understand Mindfulness
By the American Buddhist monk Bhante Vimalaramsi (Annapolis, Missouri)

Meditation is “observing how mind’s attention moves moment-to-moment in order to see clearly and precisely how the impersonal process of Dependent Origination occurs.” Seeing and under-standing how the mind’s attention moves from one thing to another is the main thrust of Buddhist meditation.
-
This is why Dependent Origination is so important in seeing and understanding. It develops an impersonal perspective with regard to all arising phenomena and leads the meditator to see the true nature of existence.
-
Successful meditation needs a highly developed skill of mind-fulness. The “6R’s” training taught at Dhamma Sukha Meditation Center is a reclaimed ancient guidance system to develop this skill.

1. RECOGNIZE
The first R is to recognize when your mind is distracted. Before that, the meditator must recollect or re-ignite his or her power of observation (mindfulness) for the meditation-cycle to begin running. Mindfulness is fuel. It’s like gas for an engine. Without mindfulness, everything stops. Being persistent with this practice relieves suffering of all kinds. To begin the cycle smoothly, one must start the engine with lots of gas (mindfulness) in the tank.

Mindfulness recollects how the meditator can recognize and observe any movement of the mind’s attention from one thing to another. This observation notices any movement of the mind’s attention away from the object of meditation, such as the breath or the sending out of metta (loving-kindness), or performing any task in daily life.

One can notice a slight sensation of tightness/tension as the mind’s attention just barely begins to move toward any arising phenomenon. Pleasant or painful feeling can take place at any of the six sense doors. Any sight, sound, odor, taste, touch, or thought might cause this pulling sensation to begin. With careful non-judgmental observation, the meditator may notice a slight tightening sensation. Recognizing early movement is vital to successful meditation.

2. RELEASE
One then continues on to release. Relax. When a feeling or thought arises, the meditator releases it, lets it be without giving any further attention to it. The content of the distraction is not important at all. But the mechanics of HOW it arose are. Just let go of any tightness around it; let it be there without placing attention on it. Deprived of attention, the tightness passes away.

3. RELAX
Mindfulness then reminds the meditator to relax. After releasing the feeling (painful or pleasant sensation), and allowing it to be without trying to control it, there is a subtle, barely noticeable tension in the mind/body. This is why a tranquilizing step is emphasized. It’s easy.

Lighten up, have fun exploring, and smile. Smiling leads us to a happier, more interesting practice. If the meditator forgets to release and relax, rather than punishing or criticizing him or herself, be kind, re-smile, and start again. Keeping up one’s humor, sense of fun, exploration, and re-cycling through these phases is important. After re-smiling, mindfulness recalls the next step.

4. RETURN
Gently return your attention to the object of meditation (the breath and relaxing, or loving-kindness and relaxing), continuing with a gentle, collected mind to use the meditation object as a “home base.” In daily life, having been pulled off task, is where one returns attention -- releasing, relaxing, and re-smiling before again taking up the task.

Sometimes people say this practice-cycle is simpler than expected. Often simple things became a mystery because of small omissions and changes. Reclaiming this practice develops more effective focus on daily tasks with less tension and tightness. Mind becomes more naturally balanced and happy. The meditator becomes more efficient at whatever he/she does. People actually have more fun doing everything that once seemed like drudgery.

Mindfulness helps us remember to apply the Buddha's meditation instructions. REMEMBER THIS STEP. To leave it out would be like forgetting to oil a car and expecting the motor to run smoothly. Without performing this relaxation step every time in the meditation-cycle, the meditator will not experience a close-up view of the cessation of tension caused by craving or feel the relief when the tightness unclenches.

Note: craving always manifests first as tightness or tension in the mind and body. One has a momentary opportunity to see and experience its real nature and the relief that comes from cessation (of tightness and suffering) while performing the release/relax steps.

5. RE-SMILE
Mindfulness moves on with a recollection to re-smile. If you have listened to the Dharma talks at http://www.dhammasukha.org/, you may remember hearing about how smiling is an important aspect of this meditation. Learning to smile -- slightly raising the corners of the mouth -- helps the mind remain observant, alert, and agile.

Getting serious, tensing up, or frowning causes the mind to become heavy and one’s mindfulness to become dull. One’s insights become more difficult to see, thus slowing one’s understanding of Dharma (phenomena and the Doctrine).
-
Imagine for a moment, the young Bodhisatta Siddhartha resting under the Rose Apple tree as a boy, years before he became the Buddha. He was not serious and tense when he attained a "pleasant abiding" (jhana) and experienced deep insights with a light mind.

6. REPEAT
Repeat the entire practice-cycle to attain the results the Buddha said could be reached in this very life. Repeating the “6R’s cycle” over and over again eventually replaces old, habitual suffering as we see and experience for ourselves what suffering actually is.

Notice the cause, which is becoming involved with the tension or tightness in any way. Experience its cessation by releasing and relaxing. And discover how to exercise the direct path to the cessation of suffering that we ourselves cause. This will happen each time you release an arising feeling, relax, and re-smile. Notice the relief.
