Saddest Day of Year: 'Blue Monday' (1/19)

"Those who fail to plan PLAN to fail"

Capitalist salesman Kevin Trudeau says he was initiated into uncle's "The Brotherhood"

Feel the feelings without clinging to them.
There is a saying we should all know. For by knowing it, we can love it and live it. Kevin Trudeau [Hevin' True Dough?] the miracle way to happiness is to take 100% responsibility for everything that happens to us.

"Well, that's impossible!" we may exclaim. "I can't be responsible for what others do to me!" Are we going to wait for them and react accordingly? Wouldn't it be better to act as if everything that happens to us were our fault?

"The buck stops here." If it stops here with me then it starts here with me, too. That is a good and useful way to approach "karma" -- the POWER OF OUR DEEDS TO PRODUCE RESULTS (eventual fruit and immediate mental resultants), now and in the interminable future.

Rather than wasting time wondering if everything is our fault, the advice given to successful Trudeau was to act as if everything were our fault. Love it. Live it. Because when we do, we will see a miracle.

There's no more waiting for the universe or others or anything to do things. It's just us.
  • Blue Monday is on Jan. 19 this year: Blue Monday is the name given to the third Monday in January by former Cardiff University health psychologist [1] Cliff Arnall in 2005 [2, 3, 4]. Prof Arnall is a current member of The British Psychological Society (BPS) [5]. It is said by UK travel company Sky Travel to be the most depressing day of the year. It takes into account weather conditions and only applies to the Northern Hemisphere temperate zones. More

Brppke's Lagoon
For example, say a gal were lost on a desert island in the middle of the sea. Should she wait for lunch, or ruminate about who's to blame for her getting there? Is there anything to learn from being there? Are those coconuts just going to climb down?

Get up, dig for fresh water, find a way to scramble up the palm tree, bring a broken rock to cut down a coconut, which provides purified drinking fluid full of electrolytes and protein rich healthy fats in a delicious gel. Keep the shells. They'll come in handy for lots of things. Take a dip in the sea and gather some seaweed. Lay it out in the sun, which will make it very taste. Then the herb, root, fruit, and vegetable hunt begins. There's gathering to be done. Fire and cooking will come soon, and this forsaken wilderness will be converted into a paradise, a Blue Lagoon (based on the novel The Blue Lagoon).

Oh, but doesn't it feel so much better to feel sorry for ourselves?

What is Blue Monday?

Each January, a certain Monday carries a reputation for being the year’s most emotionally difficult day.

Known as "Blue Monday," it’s often linked with low moods, depleted motivation, and a post-holiday slump.

While the idea started as a publicity stunt, it has since become an annual reminder of something real and important: Mental health matters – especially when days are short and emotions feel heavy. In 2026, Blue Monday falls on January 19th.

Ram Dass (Dr. Richard Alpert) in India, meets guru

What is it? Blue Monday 2026 is observed on the third Monday in January and is often described as “the saddest day of the year.”

The label may be more symbolic than scientific, but the feelings it points to are common. After the holidays, many people experience a dip – financially, emotionally, and physically.

Cold weather, shorter daylight hours, and pressure to stick to resolutions can all contribute. More

Trump fails to win the Nobel Peace Prize

It's time to send in the jackals.
And the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize goes to indefatigable peacenik and activist...from the country Trump is killing so many people in: Venezuela's opposition leader Machado wins Nobel Peace Prize, dedicates it to Trump [so he won't have any hard feelings and will maybe stop bombing her country, extrajudicially killing its citizens, and threatening to invade so that the CIA can keep dealing cocaine unimpeded by the current administration]. Why would a leader in opposition to Venezuela's duly elected leader thank Trump? They're on the same team attempting to depose and destabilize the country until it falls under U.S. control in accordance with the regime change policies of the CIA as detailed in John Perkin's Confessions of an Economic Hit Man (3rd Edition)

If Trump doesn't deserve a Nobel Peace Prize, who does?
[Ironic] Opinion by Rex Huppke, USA TODAY, 10/10/25
Like Trump, I was also a misunderstood hippie.
I’ll always remember where I was on Oct. 10, 2025, the day Donald J. Trump was viciously denied the Nobel Peace Prize and the world stopped making sense.

He clearly wanted the Nobel Peace Prize like a hungry dog wants a biscuit, and how did the Norwegian Nobel Committee members reward his selfless self-promotion? They gave the prize to someone I’ve never heard of, Venezuelan opposition activist María Corina Machado. I don’t think she’s even an American!

Jesus never existed, a literary invention

Five forgotten incarnations of Christ (Osiris, Krishna, [Vishnu], Zarathustra, Sophia)
and our own potential for Cosmic or Christ Consciousness as understood by Gnostics
Cosmic Consciousness
Cosmic Consciousness
A Study in the Evolution of the Human Mind is an attempted scientific study of illuminated individuals. Author Richard Maurice Bucke provides three dozen very consistent examples of "cosmic consciousness." Some of these are the usual suspects, and others are contemporary case-histories which Bucke collected. He proposed that these enlightened figures are evolutionary jumps, the predecessor of a more advanced species.

Historical figure versus divine fantasy
Church exaggerated me into God
There's another distinction, the small and nearly insignificant historical figure (Jesus the Nazarene of Bethlehem) used as the core of a lot of ancient mythology and astrotheology, which Dr. Reza Aslan calls the fantasy version or "Jesus Christ." It is easy to take a questionable person, like William Shakespeare, and make a superman out of him until one wonders if there ever was a root figure to begin with, one stripped of all the additional mythology grafted onto him.

I'm a professional academic Bible scholar
Zealot: The Life and Times of Jesus of Nazareth
is a historical account of the life of a possible person, Jesus, that analyzes religious perspectives on the figure and the creation of Christianity. Prof. of Religion Aslan, Ph.D., argues that Jesus was a political rebel and eschatological ("end times") Jew, whose proclamation of the "coming kingdom of God" [not the genocidal figure in the Old Testament Bible but rather the Gnostic real God] was a call for regime change, for ending Roman Empire hegemony over Judea and the corrupt and oppressive aristocratic Jewish priesthood. The New York Times bestseller has been optioned by Lionsgate and producer David Heyman with a script co-written by Aslan and screenwriter James Schamus. More

Buddhist Thailand BANS cannabis

Thailand legalized non-prescription cannabis sales in 2022 but has reversed (Reuters/Jorge Silva)
BANGKOK (AP) — Thailand is further tightening control of cannabis by banning sales of the plant to those without prescriptions. Thailand became the first country in Asia to decriminalize cannabis in 2022, in a move that boosted Thailand’s tourism and farming, and spawned thousands of shops. But the country has faced public backlash over allegations that under-regulation has made the drug available to children and caused addiction. Health Minister Somsak Thepsutin signed an order Monday that bans shops from selling cannabis to customers without a prescription. It also seeks to reclassify cannabis buds as a controlled herbThailand further tightening controls on cannabis sales (AP News)

Meet DOGE, Elon Musk and his crew

Ann Arbor and Troy, MI, against Elon Musk
I attended two Tesla Takedown protests. The generation that showed up was the one I
least expected. "Tesla Takedown" protests have happened in cities around the country in opposition to Musk's DOGE work.

Demonstrators are calling for Tesla owners to sell their stock and cars. Some owners have seen their vehicles vandalized.

Tesla's stock price taken a hit this month, and some shareholders told BI they want to sell their shares. Criticism of Elon Musk has spilled out from the virtual walls of social networks and into the streets. Demonstrators have gathered in cities around the US in recent days and weeks to participate in "Tesla Takedown" protests of varying sizes.

Meanwhile, some Tesla owners have said they have faced insults or vandalism amid the Musk criticism. Participants of the protests have called for a boycott of the EV giant in response to Musk's involvement with the Trump administration and DOGE's efforts to decrease the size of the federal workforce.

SpaceX, please send Elon Musk to Mars
The "Tesla Takedown" effort started on BlueSky, a competitor to Musk's X platform, and now has a dedicated website (teslatakedown.com). The site calls for Tesla owners to sell their vehicles and stock in an effort to "stop Musk now."

The website's organizer, "Bill & Ted" actor and filmmaker Alex Winter, wrote in a Rolling Stone op-ed that demonstrations have happened at over 100 Tesla showrooms and other locations.

Stop pretending racism is American patriotism
Tesla owner and shareholder David Abrams told Business Insider he's heard about multiple protests but wasn't aware of the "takedown" effort specifically.

Abrams said he added "Anti Elon Tesla Club" and "I Bought This Before Elon Went Crazy" stickers to his car window and is hoping that's enough to keep it from getting vandalized.

"I absolutely want to sell my car and my shares," Abrams said, adding that he's waiting for the stock price to go up and would have sold his car already if it made financial sense. More

Best Friend died of addiction: creators react

TODAY, 11/1/23; CC Liu, Sheldon S. (eds.), Wisdom Quarterly

EXCLUSIVE: Friends creators speak out on [drug addict] Matthew "Chandler" Perry’s death: ‘Utter shock’
(TODAY) In a TODAY exclusive, Friends creators Marta Kauffman and David Crane speak out about the death of severely drug addicted actor Matthew "Chandler Bing" Perry to remember his life and legacy. Kauffman spoke to Perry two weeks before his death and says, “He was in a really good place, which is why this seems so unfair.” Crane saw him in the past and remembers him as being "so alive" but is now, strangely, somehow dead. #matthewperry #celebrity #friends
Spent 7 to 9 million dollars to get sober, but doctor-prescribed opioids brought him down
What? Drugs? (radaronline.com)
Breaking news is that what killed Matthew Perry was getting into a hot tub on Suboxone, a replacement for opioids. In an effort to ease his addiction -- which he had spent millions trying to sober up from -- he was on a pharmaceutical, some of the deadliest drugs available, so deadly they need a prescription. Worth an estimated $120,000,000 and out on a date with a model 29 years younger than him, he sinks into the jacuzzi and never comes up. What an awakening in the afterlife, hungry ghosts laughing and prodding him, or angelic voices and devas escorting him "home" to a heavenly abode or immediately finding himself in another womb, human or animal, it had to be illuminating to the Friends star.

I'm tired of meditating! What else ya got?

Neuroscientists: Never lack willpower again!
Walk to enlightenment
(Mindset) Neuroscientists and Stanford Health Psychologist Dr. Kelly McGonigal, Ph.D., teaches what influences us to procrastinate or why we fail to resist temptation. We can learn small interventions that can have large, positive outcomes. And we don't need to cross our legs in full lotus to achieve it. It's an internal effort of "surfing the urge" and riding out rough emotions, intrusive thoughts, and the craving at the root of habits we no longer want to want.

Lighter explodes in dryer: man cheats death

(Sky News Australia
Cloud-chasing toxic vapor smoke screen e-cig
) April 4, 2023. A laundromat in Spain explodes after someone unmindfully leaves a [USB (lithium battery) device] cigarette lighter in dryer. Sky News Host Chris Kenny reviews and has a good chuckle about the Spanish laundromat that exploded after someone left a cigarette lighter in the dryer. “It just blew the shop front out,” Mr. Kenny said.

Mindfulness
If Jesus had been a white teen, would he be bad?
(WQ) That mindfulness (sati, dispassionate presence of mind, vigilance, wakefulness, disinterested bare awareness) comes in handy, the Buddha said, whatever one is engaged in, good or ill.

Even in wrongdoing it is of benefit. When pursuing merit and progress in meditation, it is invaluable. It serves as the support for concentration (samadhi) and concentration supports it in a mutually beneficial way.

Leave a lighter when tossing wet clothes into a staticky dryer? Prepare for the boom. This man would have been killed or burned alive.

The concussive force was so great it blew out the windows before starting a fire and gutting the building. Fortunately, it was all caught on security cam or it would have been labelled a suspicious bombing.
