Cowboy Carter: Beyonce in LA (4/28)

Beyoncé’s ‘Cowboy Carter’ album snubbed by the CMA Awards and folks like her are fuming

I got 'em all blackmailed. They best get me free
The Illuminati has two more weeks to reign and rule before P Diddy's trial gets underway and stars as big as Jay-Z and Beyonce get named as possible co-conspirators, dragged into court to defend themselves after being implicated by Sean Diddy Combs, who suddenly ends up indisposed in his maximum security cells while under watch. He apparently placed a sheet in his [blank] and drained himself of all fluids, succumbing to a kind of "dehydration" that only seems to happen in the Hollywood press when stars do something papers like Variety do not want to mention or name by its name. Queen Bey was shunned by the country music spectacle that is Stagecoach in the neighboring county when Lana Del Rey and even Ke$ha go attention, not to mention all the top rappers going gay country for the stay.
Fans saddle up for kickoff of Beyoncé’s ‘Cowboy Carter Tour’
Our God (the Devil?) will take care of us.
(TODAY) April 28, 2025: Beyoncé is set to kick off her highly-anticipated "Cowboy Carter Tour" tonight, Monday, in Los Angeles. But Ticketmaster’s handling of concert prices is drawing criticism from fans once again with other artists like Katy Perry, The Weeknd, Oasis, Bruce Springsteen, and Lady Gaga also set to hit the road. [Check tickets. Seats have been forcibly reassigned.

You trying to throw shade my way, Ms. Swift?
Traffic is horrible due to two other events, a Latin artist in the neighboring venue and Japanese Heritage Night at Dodger Stadium, meaning downtown Los Angeles (DTLA) is at an impasse. Plan ahead. Get a WaymoUberLyft and do not plan on being home anytime soon. Doors at 5:00 pm, show at 7:00 pm, tickets still available for as low as $50.] NBC’s Kaylee Hartung reports for TODAY. #beyonce #ladygaga #concert

Punk rock Vandals for Xmas? (12/21)

They won't actually vandalize things, will they?
It is strange how some days on the calendar have too much going on. We have to parties to choose from when we were expecting to enjoy the annual punk rock festivities at the Disneyland House of Blues. California life is tough. Not all SoCal punk bands held up, but the Vandals sure have. Their line of classic singalong songs are a strange juxtaposition to all the capitalist holiday fluff and fanfare. Outside the club, in Disney Town, there's endless shopping, eating, and baby-raising; meanwhile, inside, there will be a festive pit, moshing, jumping around, yelling and screaming the lyrics, and see what insane thing the bassist gets up to. Our personal favorite Vandals' song is "Urban Struggle" (aka "I Want to Be a Cowboy"). It's like, what's the use of Halloween if one can't let loose? Kwanchannukkmas is worse, tinsel for the masses, so this is a fun annual event to consider: The Vandals 29th Annual Christmas Formal | House of Blues Anaheim, OC

Dad rock: Limp Bizkit covers Ludacris' "M*ve B*tch," "Smells Like
Teen Spirit" live in the Netherlands where Fred Durst is persona grata

ALTERNATIVES: Of course, there's a yoga studio event for the Winter Solstice and Portal Dance in LA and a vegan potluck in the Valley and our big end-of-year yoga vegan potluck kirtan celebration. See Dharma Buddhist Meditation for details on other things to do.

Karma Class: Five Precepts, Eightfold Path

Shwe Zan Aung, Mrs. Caroline A.F. Rhys Davids (trans.) via SuttaCentral.net, Kathavatthu 22.7, "Of Correlation by Repetition"; edited by Dhr. Seven, Eliza Darcey, Wisdom Quarterly

Doggie karma (Dan Piraro)
Theravada Buddhist: But was this not said by the Exalted One [regarding the Five Precepts Buddhists undertake to observe]?

The Five Precepts
The Buddha: “Meditators, the (1) taking of life -- when habitually practiced and multiplied -- is conducive to rebirth in the purgatories (the long but impermanent Buddhist "hells"), among animals, and/or hungry ghosts. In its slightest form it results in and is conducive to a shortened life on the [precious and rare] human plane.”

And again: “Meditators, (2) theft, (3) sexual misconduct, (4) perjury, slander, uttering harsh words, useless talk [the four of which are collectively called "false speech"], and (5) intoxication leading to heedlessness -- habitually practiced and multiplied -- are each and all conducive to rebirth in the purgatories (among naraka beings/denizens/hellions), among animals, or hungry ghosts.
  • The slightest theft results in and conduces to the destruction of one's property;
  • the slightest sexual misconduct gives rise to retaliatory measures among humans (i.e., in the human world, on the human plane of existence, which is NOT limited to earth);
  • the lightest form of perjury exposes the perjurer to false accusation among humans;
  • the mildest offense in slander leads to a rupture of friendships among humans;
  • the lightest result of harsh words creates sounds jarring on the human ear;
  • the slightest result of useless talk is speech commanding no respect among humans;
  • the mildest (heedlessness/harm due to) intoxication conduces to want of sanity among humans.”
The Noble Eightfold Path
We adhere to the Five Precepts, sir. That's enough. Why do you follow the Noble Eightfold Path when the Five Precepts are enough? - I do it to realize nirvana and make an end of ALL suffering.

And again: “Meditators, wrong view, wrong intention (thought, aspiration, motivation, purpose), wrong effort, wrong speech, wrong action, wrong livelihood, wrong mindfulness, and wrong concentration each and all -- if habitually practiced, developed, and multiplied -- conduce to rebirth in the purgatories, among animals, among hungry ghosts.”

And again: “Meditators, right views, right intention, [and so on for all of the factors of the Noble Eightfold Path] -- habitually practiced, developed, and multiplied -- have their base and their goal and their culmination in the Deathless [amata, (i.e., nirvana)].”
  • *Kathavatthu: "Points of Controversy," another odd inclusion in the Abhidharma, this book contains questions and answers that were compiled by Ven. Moggaliputta Tissa in the 3rd century BCE in order to help clarify points of controversy that existed between the various Hinayana or "Lesser Vehicle" schools (like the Sarvastivada but not the Theravada, which had not yet come into existence] of Buddhism at the time. English translation: Points of Controversy, translated from Pali by S.Z. Aung and C.A.F. Rhys Davids (Oxford, Pali Text Society, 1915).

Eat meat = die of cancer (W.H.O.)

AP via mail.com; npr.org; Ashley Wells, CC Liu, Seth Auberon, Wisdom Quarterly
My daughter and her friends will eat me like I do. I don't what "science" says!

WHO: Processed meat linked to cancer; red meat is risky too.
I'll kill animals, die.
PARIS, France - It's official: Bacon, hotdogs, ham, sausage, boloney, and other "processed" (embalmed, cured, chemically preserved, smoked, sugar coated, salted, treated, irradiated, altered) meats can lead to colon, stomach and other CANCERS -- and red meat (like hamburger and steak) is probably cancer-causing, too.

I'm full of embalming chemicals. Yum.
While doctors have long warned against eating too much meat, the World Health Organization (WHO)'s cancer agency gave the most definitive response yet today about its relation to cancer -- and put processed meats in the same danger category as cigarettes or asbestos.

There's a hair in my bloody flesh!
A group of 22 scientists from the WHO's International Agency for Research on Cancer in Lyon, France evaluated more than 800 studies from several continents about meat and cancer. Based on that evaluation, they classified processed meat as "carcinogenic to humans" and red meat as "probably carcinogenic."
Meat industry groups protest the classification. The North American Meat Institute [N-a-MI or "enemy"?] argued in a statement that "cancer is a complex disease not caused by single foods" and stressed the importance of lifestyle and environmental factors.

Momma, they're not going to kill us in an abattoir, embalm us, wrap in plastic to eat?
Pus, antibiotic, chemical contaminated milk and carcinogenic baloney, fattening bread (wiki).
.
Doctors have warned that a diet loaded with red meat is linked to cancers, including those of the colon and pancreas. The American Cancer Society has long urged people to reduce consumption of red meat and processed meat [or go vegetarian and avoid this cancer risk altogether].

Perhaps THIS will refresh your memory!
The researchers defined processed meat as anything transformed to improve its flavor or preserve it -- including salting, curing, and smoking [or filling it with embalming chemicals, red dyes, toxins, and so on to make it look like it was killed recently and had not already turned gray].

They noted that [in addition to cancer-causing chemicals known to science] red meat contains important nutrients [that are also available from cleaner foods] but said red meat is associated with cancers in several studies.

Eat it. - I would eat this cr-p; look at these worms. You can't even see the carcinogens.

Clean your colon. Baking soda cures cancer.
Their report said grilling, pan-frying, or other high-temperature methods of cooking red meat produce the highest amounts of chemicals [acrylamides, burned proteins lke the acrylamides that form on browned whte bread, french fries, and starches] suspected to cause cancer. More

I don't want to be like unhealthy my mom. I want to be vegan, happy, cancer-free!
Meat production for flesh consumption ruins the environment. Care. Go vegan (DN).
Please don't kill me or eat my baby daughter. I'm not "hamburger"; she's not "veal."
Eat meat and fried foods then come to the annual Cancer Convention in search of a cure.

There are MANY cures for cancer. But the American Medical Association will not allow anything to cut into the cancer "treatment" industry's massive profits. Try cancerous and expensive radiation, chemicals (chemo), and/or surgery. It makes A LOT of money. Or go to CancerControlSociety.com

The NBA, BLM slave owners (cartoon)

Pat Macpherson, Pfc. Sandoval, Wisdom Quarterly  (SPORTS COMMENTARY)
A woman scorned: Is she a gold digger who set up her Jewish billionaire boyfriend?
"Rancher Bundy and His Cows" (Tom Tomorrow/thismodernworld.com)

I can't believe what you did to me. - I can.
Racism is alive and well in America. First the federal government's BLM (Bureau of Land Management), which is eager to get its share of the 25,000,000 gunshot rounds the U.S. government's DHS has requested, used heavy handed tactics on a rural bumpkin who stepped in the poop, then a cosmopolitan white supremacist came down with Foot in Mouth disease.

Armed property owner reports trespasser, gets charged with felony assaultEver since 2012 things are being revealed. Last week revealed a racist cattle exploiter and cow killer ("rancher") thinking out loud about how Blacks might not be better off as slaves instead of dependent on government subsidies. Listen to his egregious statements:

Massive Raid By Federal agents, Rangers and F.B.I. On Bundy Ranch Imminent?Cowboy Cliven Bundy apologized but refused to retract the statements. Why? Because "if a man can't say things like that, then Martin Luther [King Jr.] has failed!"

Militia Mobilization Under Way For *OPERATION AMERICAN SPRING*Now, Commissioner Silver has slammed Sterling, the Jewish "owner" of a "team" of Black men who do what he says...but are not slaves. Don't call them "slaves," not even "wage slaves," because that would be racist. And if there's one thing the mainstream media will not tolerate is racism, when it feels like it.

(TMZ) Magic Johnson, Shaquille O'Neil, and Doc Rivers react. LA Clippers owner Donald Sterling told his "girlfriend" he does NOT want her bringing Black people to his games... including Magic Johnson. It's ALL on tape.
Wisdom Quarterly/KFI AM, April 29, 2014
"The one editorial cartoon about Donald Sterling you have to see" says The Washington Post's Missy Khamvongsa: Pulitzer Prize-winning editorial cartoonist for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution Mike Luckovich sums up the Sterling debacle pretty succinctly. More

"Don't bring Black people to Clippers games"
From NY, the commissioner has spoken: The NBA is banning Los Angeles Clippers billionaire owner Donald Sterling from the Clippers' organization for life after racist comments attributed to him went public.

He is also being fined $2.5 million.  The penalties come just hours before the Clippers are set to host the Golden State Warriors in Game Five of their playoff series in Los Angeles.

An audio recording of an exchanges, or exchanges, with his "delicate" half-Latina and half-Black "girlfriend" was leaked over the weekend.

Trafficking in USA, too (freetheslaves.net)
In it Sterling is allegedly heard telling her not to associate publicly with African-Americans or bring them to Clippers games. [She seems to bait him into incriminating himself further and revealing his true colors. Many have jumped in to add this was mild in comparison to many things the 80-year-old has said in the past]. More

Who is Sterling? What's his past?
CC Liu (ed.) Wisdom Quarterly; KPCC/SCPR.org
  • He was born Donald Tokowitz in Chicago, Illinois, in 1934,
  • Only son of immigrant produce peddler (Sports Illustrated).
  • Left Chicago for Boyle Heights, now a Latino enclave in East Los Angeles but then a poor Jewish enclave (SI).
  • School: He graduated Cal State Los Angeles near Pasadena and Southwestern Univ. School of Law (SI).
  • He changed his last name to "Sterling" in his 20s because it “instilled confidence in people” (Dave Zirin, KPCC interview).
  • Practiced law in Boyle Heights then Beverly Hills (SI).
  • He became a real estate mogul, buying multiple apartment buildings in L.A. and Sterling Plaza.
  • He bought the Clippers in 1981 for $12.7 million (ESPN).
  • Net worth: $1.9 billion, ranks #328 in US (Forbes 2013).
How racist is Sterling's racism?
BeforeItsNews.com, April 28, 2014 (edited by Wisdom Quarterly)
Racism is deplorable. Most Americans now will not stand for it. But many of us don't even realize we're doing it.! Yes, some are too sensitive, BUT most of us are too insensitive.

This is not the first time he is accused of race-based discrimination. Sterling was previously sued in a case that revealed that he ran the Clippers like a "Southern plantation owner." This is only the most recent example of Sterling’s well-documented hostility toward other races, particularly Blacks and Latinos. But this time the story and video went viral just as ballplayers and rights defenders wanted.

Do something: Free the Slaves!
In a racial discrimination suit, former General Manager Elgin Baylor charged that Sterling ran the Clippers with the “vision of a Southern plantation-type structure” asking him to create a team of “poor black boys from the South and a white head coach.”

When interviewing one prospective white coach, Sterling reportedly asked, “I wanna know why you think you can coach these n**gers.”

Despite complaints from [basketball] players, Sterling has made a disturbing habit of bringing women into the locker room and saying things like “look at these beautiful Black bodies.”

[Remember, White plantation owners used to rape and sell Black children, boys and girls, their mothers and fathers, all of whom were their legal property -- a little discussed consequence of European-style slavery in America.

Billionaire modern-"slave" owner Sterling is a ruthless, bigoted slumlord: In 2009, he settled a case with the Department of Justice after paying out the largest settlement ever obtained in a government housing discrimination suit:

He was accused of systematically denying rental opportunities to prospective Black and Hispanic tenants across his Southern California properties. In court documents, he stated that "Black tenants smell and attract vermin." More

Cow escapes slaughterhouse, new adventure

(WATCH VIDEO) Actor Ricardo Montalban plays an elegant cow escaping slaughter on the Family Guy episode "McStroke" (Season 6, Ep. 8). Peter suffers a stroke from eating meat and sets out to expose the horrors of the fastfood hamburger industry.

BILLINGS, Montana – Five years after a cow dubbed the "Unsinkable Molly B" leapt a slaughterhouse gate and swam across the Missouri River in an escape that drew international attention, the heifer has again eluded fate, surviving the collapse of the animal sanctuary where she was meant to retire.

This Jan. 9, 2006 photo shows Famous bovine Molly B. at Mickey's Packing Plant after escaping the slaughter house and leading authorities on a chase
Molly B (AP/Great Falls Tribune/Rion Sanders)

Molly B was among an estimated 1,200 animals removed from the Montana Large Animal Sanctuary and Rescue in recent weeks as part of a massive effort to

bail out its overwhelmed owners. Animal welfare groups said they were forced to euthanize dozens of starving and ill cattle, horses, and llamas found on the 400-acre sanctuary in rural Sanders County.

The bovine celebrity herself -- an overweight black Angus breed said to be sore in the hoof but otherwise relatively healthy -- was removed to a nearby ranch and is headed this week to a smaller farm sanctuary. More>>

Ban the Burger, Save the World

David Gorn
Hamburgers and pizza disap-peared from scores of univer-sity and corporate cafeterias across the country today — all in the name of saving the planet, one bite at a time.

In honor of Earth Day, there was no beef or cheese on the menu at places such as the University of San Francisco dining hall.
Executive chef Jon Hall, who supervises the kitchen crew, says the one-day ban is designed to raise awareness about the effect food has on the environment.

"We don't do it every day," Hall notes. "It's not like we never have hamburgers — there'd be a revolt."

But students will be eating a lot fewer burgers if Helene York has her way. She's the manager of a nationwide low-carbon campaign for Bon Appetit, a food-service company based in Palo Alto, Calif. Her program reaches more than 400 cafeterias and cafes across the country. All of them trimmed out beef and cheese for the day. More>>

Cows with Gas: India's Global Warming

Madhur Singh, New Delhi (TIME)

Indolent cows languidly chewing their cud while befuddled motorists honk and maneuver their vehicles around them are images as stereotypically Indian as saffron-clad holy men and the Taj Mahal. Now, however, India's ubiquitous cows -- of which there are 283 million, more than anywhere else in the world -- have assumed a more menacing role as they become part of the climate change debate.

By burping, belching, and excreting copious amounts of methane -- a greenhouse gas that traps 20 times more heat than carbon dioxide -- India's livestock of roughly 485 million (including sheep and goats) contribute more to global warming than the vehicles they obstruct.

With new research suggesting that emission of methane by Indian livestock is higher than previously estimated, scientists are furiously working at designing diets to help bovines and other ruminants eat better, stay more energetic and secrete lesser amounts of the offensive gas. (See pictures of India's largest ruminant: the Asian elephant.) More>>

Lots of Meat Leads to Illness

"Study: Lots of red meat increases mortality risk"
CHICAGO -- The largest study of its kind finds that Americans who eat large amounts of red meat and processed meats face a greater risk of death from heart disease and cancer. The federal study of more than half a million men and women bolsters prior evidence of the health risks of diets laden with red meat like hamburger and processed meats like hot dogs, bacon, and cold cuts.
