Zen: ordering life Taoist way (Lao Tzu)

(Flowing Void) The simple path to put our life in order again | Taoist Wisdom

Zen Comics (Ioanna Salajan)
The root of Zen "Buddhism": Taoism is a philosophical and religious tradition indigenous to China, emphasizing harmony with the Tao 道, the way of non-interference, going with the flow.

With a range of meaning in Chinese philosophy, Tao has been translated as "way," "road," "path," "technique," generally understood as "natural," an enigmatic process of transformation underlying ultimate reality [2, 3].

Where Chinese came from: DNA evidence

Zen Comics (I. Salajan)
Taoist thought and tradition have informed the development of various practices like Zen, including forms of meditation (cultivation), astrology, qigong (moving chi), feng shui (arrangement of our environment), and internal alchemy [4].

A common goal of Taoist practice is self-cultivation, a deeper appreciation of the Tao (akin to the Vedic concept of Brahman, GOD, or Nature), and a more harmonious existence.

Taoist ethics generally emphasize virtues of effortless action (wu wei), naturalness (ziran), simplicity, and the three treasures of compassion, frugality, and humility. [It seems that most of what Western practitioners is Zen Buddhism is actually rooted in Taoism and Confucianism.] More
Chinese Buddhism is a blend of three traditions
The Yellow River Civilization (黃河文明 or Huanghe Valley Civilization): Hwan‐huou Civilization is an ancient [proto-] Chinese civilization that prospered in the middle and lower basin of the Yellow River [1]. Agriculture (particularly millet cultivation) was started in the flood plain of the Yellow River, and before long, through flood control and the irrigation of the Yellow River, cities were developed and political power found reinforcement. One of the "four major civilizations of the ancient world," it is often included in textbooks of East Asian history. But the idea of including only the Yellow River Civilization as one of the four biggest ancient civilizations has become outdated as a result of the discovery of other early cultures in China, such as the Yangtze and Liao civilizations. The area saw the Yangshao and Longshan cultures of the Neolithic era and developed into the bronze ware culture of the Shang and Zhou dynasties. More

Wise sayings for better living: Simple Life

The Art of Not Forcing
Wisdom Quarterly
Why even carry a sword? The art of kyudo
What is wu wei? It is the art of not forcing things, non-interference, effortless action, non-doing, non-resistance, the path of least resistance, going with the flow, the way of water, acting in harmony with the way life actually moves.

Once upon a time two great martial arts masters traveled the land, unbeaten, taking on all challengers and triumphing in each case. Then one day, by chance, they met at the creek. And one said to the other, "So we finally meet? Today shall be the day we see who the greater sage is, the warrior to vanquish all warriors, the Undefeated."

"Indeed, just as you say."

Then the first drew his sword with a resonant schwing and stabbed it into the water. It stood glimmering. Then he took out a piece of paper and placed it onto the water above the sword. The water carried the paper down, and his sharp sword sliced it in half down the middle just as it flowed by. At this, the first warrior shouted: "Behold!"

The second warrior drew his sword and stabbed the creek with his longer, stronger sword, shimmering more brightly on the surface of the water.

The first warrior trembled in anticipation, his confidence beginning to slip.

The Art of War

The second warrior took out a piece of paper, placed it above the sword on the surface of the water. And the current carried it down to the blade, going around the sword just as it passed.

The first fell to his knees, defeated, understanding too late, of course, that it is always wiser to avoid conflict and not fight. He cried out, "Indeed, master, we have settled it. And let it be known from this day forward, I am the inferior."

The other gently smiled and turned away.

Did it happen? Who knows. Could it have happened? Indeed! The Tao flows, wu wei, unobtrusive, doing nothing but leaving nothing undone. Forcing nothing but accomplishing everything. Behold, what we call Mother Nature!

Do people come into our lives by chance?

Zen story: People do NOT come into our lives by chance: Zen wisdom
(Miracles In Motion) April 15, 2024:  On this journey steeped in wisdom, motivation, and Zen history, we examine a spiritual path of personal growth. Through the fusion of personal and spiritual growth, we discover the transformative power of human connections on the path to individual development and enlightenment.

Let's dive into seven inspirational stories enriched by the profound wisdom of Zen and Buddhist traditions, exploring how these ancient Eastern philosophies can inspire our inner growth.

It is an exploration of Zen advice and little gems of wisdom to nourish a winning mind, promoting emotional balance and mental well-being. Let's analyze the spiritual motivation behind each significant encounter, offering enlightening insight for personal spiritual growth on our search for wisdom.

If we venture into stories of spiritual awakening to reveal how each chapter of our lives contributes to our journey as a whole, we may find a book that was worth living.

On a journey of self-discovery and emotional intelligence, we embrace the beauty of human connections as well as the ugliness to gain depth of growth. The goal is to discover what every encounter, every experience, has to offer as a precious piece of the puzzle that is our life.

In this way we illuminate our own path with spiritual awareness, which can motivate our progress.

Please feel free to share experiences and thoughts in the comments. #zenstory #zenwisdom, dare to do motivation channel, mindfulness, motivational video

You Eat Animals? (sci-fi ET comedy)

I think we're animals who love to hunt, kill, and devour others. - It's what God wants.
.
You Eat Other Animals? | Sci-Fi Comedy Short Film | Vegan Aliens
(Wily Films) Here is a sci-fi comedy in which two happy-go-lucky earthling human men are being taken to an alien planet of untold wonders and pleasures when their female vegan hosts learn a stomach-churning truth about earthlings. Starring Evanna Lynch, Anna Ballantine, James Eeles, and Michael Jinks, and an after-credits scene. Please refrain from pirating this film, which would be stealing from animal charities.

This short comedy was inspired by a claim that chickens were slaughtered towards the end of their natural lives. I tried to keep it fun rather than laboring points (like pigs being super smart and the most intelligent victims on the farm).

People seem keen to let me know when they think I've failed, but clips from the film have had tens of millions of views across socials, and at least one person stopped eating meat after watching it (the biggest win).

The reference to Chinese, like the reference to the Japanese and Canadians, refers to current inhabitants (specifically to the Yulin Dog Meat Festival) rather than the Han (the largest ethnic group in China).

Common arguments against veganism
This article explains why meat eaters feel the need to defend their behavior and attack vegans: psychologytoday.com/us/bl...

I didn't address these arguments in the film as I was unaware people used them to justify their support for animal suffering and slaughter (while the beautiful and advanced aliens are surprised earthlings would still eat animals).

"Other animals eat animals!"
Other animals have no choice, lack moral reasoning or agency, and act on instinct. Other animals routinely commit infanticide (eating others' babies), while some eat their young (their own babies). Should humans? I mean, why waste all that "protein"?

The logic of basing our behavior on what other animals do is clearly flawed, or we should have no compunction about killing and eating babies with our genitalia hanging out (which is frowned upon yet no one tells the other animals anything about it).

Here's a great drama short that imagines humans copying a "natural" animal behavior that is called rape by humans:
"We're meant to eat meat!"

So fair is fair and bears can eat humans?
We evolved as omnivores, but there is now no need to corral, kill, or consume meat. That's just a fact. Please read scientificamerican.com/ar... and edition.cnn.com/2024/04/30/af..., which address the "meat made us human" myth.

The scientific consensus is that a meat-free diet is the healthiest with research dating to the 1960s (Adventists). The Southern States also made similar arguments for maintaining slavery: that it's perfectly "natural" (Stephens). Slavery existed for millennia and the majority thought it fine so, clearly, neither a historical norm nor the majority view is necessarily the correct or moral one. Rather, your ethics are likely formed by cultural ethical relativism (Einstein referred to meat eaters as being imprisoned by delusion).

"Eating plants is no better!"

Be kind, Humans.
This runs along the lines of plants being "alive", "sentient" or having "feelings". Plants are alive but are not sentient and do not have feelings. If you can't see the difference between a cow and cowslip please read this paper - ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/arti... - which debunks the research that has led to some meat eaters claiming plant sentience in a desperate attempt at deflection (while ignoring that more human-edible crops go to feeding livestock than directly to humans). It is worth noting that trees bear fruit specifically to be eaten (no livestock wants us to eat them), while the argument that eating one life form is no worse than eating any other life form is to also argue people should be eating golden retrievers: calling vegans hypocrites for distinguishing between the plant and animal kingdoms while distinguishing between different orders of mammal is absurd. Indeed, this whole argument is so embarrassingly inane I'm surprised I have to address it. #evannalynch #vegan #scifi #comedy

"Animals are killed growing crops!"
Animals are killed harvesting crops though the data is poor (they count populations before and after harvesting so do not account for animals that simply leave when the combine harvester approaches). However, not only is killing animals not the purpose of arable farming (and tens of billions more animals are killed in animal agriculture each year) but more human-edible crops go to feeding livestock than (directly) to feeding humans, so meat eaters are still responsible for more of these deaths than vegans (even before the animals are slaughtered for their meat). If you're concerned about creatures being chopped up, veganism would be the best course.

Sex, drugs, 'n Amish parties? Rumspringa

Amish Mafia, DMAX 11/17/19; Dr. Phil Show; Pat Macpherson, CC Liu (eds.), Wisdom Quarterly
I can't wait for the future, when we move to a free land and get to do what we want. - Yeah.

Amish teens at hot party smoke the devil's lettuce or "green corn"! | Amish Mafia
(DMAX UK) Lebanon Levi is upset after he finds out that some people were smoking "green corn" (cannabis) in the hot party he organized and charged Amish young folk $20 to attend.

In the Amish settlement in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, keeping the peace and carrying out justice is the responsibility of Lebanon Levi. He doesn't hold the title of police chief, but he holds all the power of one and then some. Levi exists above the law and occupies the role of police, judge, jury, and executioner in a community that, untrusting of traditional law enforcement authorities, relies on a group of men for protection and justice. "Amish Mafia" depicts the work carried out by Levi and three of his young Amish assistants, namely keeping outside forces from infiltrating the Amish community, while keeping the principles and morality within the community in check. The Amish church, according to Discovery, denies the existence of this unique "police" force, so the network says some identifying information in the series has been changed and some scenes re-enacted.

Good Full Moon Friday the 13th! (video)

Dhr. Seven, Ashley Wells, Crystal Quintero, Seth Auberon, CC Liu (editors), Wisdom Quarterly

Friday is a happy day in the West, the end of the work week. Full moons are the most beautiful moons of the moonth: each month gets only one. What?

There are 13 months in a year. How? A week is seven days (7), a month has four weeks (4). 7x4=28. There are 13 months in a year (13), which has 365 days. 13x28=364. 364+Day Zero=365.
The Human Calculator Calendar has 365 days divided into 13 months of 28 days each and the first day of the year is the Zero Day. The 13 months are numbered 0-12. Every month has 4 weeks. Every date falls on the same day of the week every month (Scott Flansburg).
.
Pomona, Harvest Goddess
Just ask the creator (rediscoverer) of the Human Calculator Calendar, Scott Flansburg, "the Human Calculator."

But the Catholic Church with its world headquarters in the Vatican in the world's smallest country, the Holy See at the center of the former capital of the world/the Roman Empire wants us to be very afraid of 13 and the moon, the earth's natural timekeeper.

What if every month went back to having exactly 28 days, and every one of those days fell on the same day of the week, like every month beginning on a Monday, for example? That's how it was meant to be, and we can have it again.

Let's end the "fear of thirteen," triskaidekaphobia, a phobia inculcated in us by a corrupt priestly ruling caste, the modern Brahmins. Moreover, let's end the "fear of Friday the thirteenth," paraskevidekatriaphobia. Let's celebrate our Moon (Luna, Soma, Chandra), the weekend, and 13!

Earth's moon is an artificial satellite placed there.
In Buddhism the moon, Soma, is revered as a deity. It is the basis of the "sabbath" day, the uposatha or "lunar observance day" when
  • Buddhists go vegetarian,
  • observe the Eight Precepts,
  • meditate in earnest, and
  • stay overnight at the temple listening to Dharma talks and sutras and meditation instructions.
It's a weekly occurrence that at least gets observed once a month on the full moon and special holidays.

Think of the moon as a big clock face. Anyone can see what time of the month it is and what day of the month by its phases -- full, half, quarter, or new. It is constantly and unfailingly guiding us through the dark, chasing the sun in a circle above us as old maps show. We've been shown a whole other unbelievable story of what's really going on in front of us.

This is the Harvest Moon, closest to the autumnal equinox, the beginning of the fall season. Another one will not fall on a Friday the 13th until 2049, so enjoy the special micromoon in its brilliance tonight.
