Meditation with an American monk (video)

Jhāna with Venerable Suddhaso
(Buddhist Insights, July 29, 2021) The Buddha spoke over and over about the importance of entering "absorption" (jhāna) as the basic definition in one sense of "meditation."

Another word, "cultivation" (bhavana), is often also translated as "meditation." But bhavana has a broader definition of "self-development" in various senses.

One might develop moral-virtue or serene-calm or insight-wisdom as a pyramidal basis for meditation, the collecting of the mind into coherent wholeness (samadhi). In this way it can exhibit its innate super powers of penetration into ultimate truth for the sake of complete liberation from delusion and suffering.

Ven. Suddhāso explains what jhāna is, why it's important (some might argue crucial), and how to access it.
