Loneliness and the illusion of connection

Thich Nhat Hanh, Plum Village; CC Liu, Dhr. Seven, Ashley Wells (eds.), Wisdom Quarterly

The illusion many Mahayana Buddhists strive for is "oneness" or their interpretation of "non-duality" (advaita), the illusion of connection, of interdependence with all things -- rather than seeing that there is no separate self.

Reality already is what it is. Let it be. See it.
In the sense that we are all things "I" is not anything but ignorance and illusion. And that is all that goes away when we awaken together.

Yet if fans and students of Thay will not meditate (practice virtue for peace of mind to gain samadhi then develop prajna or higher-wisdom), they will do nothing but spin in endless spiritual fantasies of ego and a lack of fulfillment.
